From what I heard the subtext was some manifestation of the collective neurosis japan has over the bomb/ww2.

In fact isn't there some manga where its, like, denial of the rape of nanking.

You could say that about 95% of anime in existence.

Yeah as I've mentioned, it's always hilarious when an animu involves Japan being the sole bulwark against some kind of global threat considering they have no military really.

Well, they have high-tech industry and were until very recently the second largest economy in the world. They also have a population a third the size of ours. It's not inconceivable for Japan to matter.

While it isn't anime I heard a webcomic was getting a live action weekly webcast. Or something like that.

I can think of..two..maybe three things where that wouldn't be horrible
And no I take that back they would be lame as "webcasts" instead of comics.

Did you hear about the thing that does the stuff? Yeah.

We have this. It's called Penny Arcade. Blaminations, specifically.

That and developing some sort of super secret weapon, usually a mecha of some sort, and all the super duper evil countries want it for themselves.

I did hear about the thing that does the stuff. The stuff that the thing did was so numerous and in some ways specific to a task.

Ok I think it's the comic called Dragon stone. Dragon wrath. IDk but it's got some good actors so far. I can't remember the name. and the blog I learned this from doesn't have a good archive?

Pretty much all of Japan, actually.

Only manga I've read (or even heard of that acknowledges the massacre, unless I'm forgetting a series the translator/editor mentions) is The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. They even have a case that involves the ancestors of Unit 731

So according to some ad I just saw on the internet, FLCL is being re-released (or just was, according to amazon)

This time it's all on one disc, or at least in one box, which makes sense since it's only six episodes, instead of that asinine two per disc deal they had going when I got two volumes (I don't think they had the first..then I'm like 70% sure they went out of print, but I really have absolutely no idea). So..thats slightly annoying.

Oh yeah it's also on blu-ray if you've decided to make that lifestyle choice I suppose.
