Title: Pani Poni Dash Post by: Bllue on September 30, 2007, 11:27:32 PM I had to watch this anime on demand, and i'm still not done with it because of that. It's hilarious, got me saying omega, and i love children. Has any one else seen it or should i put up a short autopsy of it? (sorry, bad time management.)
Title: Re: Pani Poni Dash Post by: EyeOfPain on October 01, 2007, 12:13:57 PM Saw the first episode and part of the second, but that was about two years ago now. Hilarious OVA, though.
Title: Re: Pani Poni Dash Post by: Bllue on October 04, 2007, 06:49:47 PM I'm sorry, i feel dumb. I've asked this before but i can never remember what OVA stands for.
Anime Network (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5556) is the best place to look it up, butWikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pani_Poni_Dash!) is also pretty good. Title: Re: Pani Poni Dash Post by: EyeOfPain on October 05, 2007, 12:43:40 PM Original Video Animation (or OVA, for short).
It just means that the anime was released directly to video, rather than aired on television or shown in a movie theater. OVAs typically have a higher budget per episode than the average TV anime. Translated, that means it's shinier than your usual sentai anime, but it still has the same six frame repeating action/transformation/whatever filler scenes in every episode. War. Title: Re: Pani Poni Dash Post by: EyeOfPain on October 05, 2007, 01:56:54 PM "Sentai" is best translated as "Task Force." I think you mean "Seinen."
I'll admit, however, that I always thought "Sentai" was the term for any live action superhero show. Title: Re: Pani Poni Dash Post by: Bllue on October 06, 2007, 06:13:54 PM once again i am a n00b. does that mean OVA's are better quality?
Title: Re: Pani Poni Dash Post by: EyeOfPain on October 07, 2007, 04:55:19 AM Not necessarily, but if you were to compare the animation quality of an average OVA with the quality of a television series, more often than not, the OVA will come out on top.
