Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Big Duo Enthusiest on July 26, 2007, 04:23:45 AM Ok, one of the things that I would like to make seen is the lack of Merchandise for Big O. So what I have done is made a list of items wich if you don't have, maybe startled that they are even existant. And note, this is for a regular collector, because If you already got a copy of Both seasons of Big O in Region One, the international box would be worthless. But diffrent people have diffrent tastes.
Figures -Bandai 7 inch Big-O with Roger and Dorothy -Bandai 7 inch Big Duo with Roger and Angel -Bandai 8 inch Big-O model kit with Roger -Coin Figures Big O, Big Duo, Roger, Dorothy, Norman. Swartzwald, Dorothy 1, Griffin -Bandai 6 inch series Big-O, Big Duo, and Archetype (I would love to have the prototypes) -Bandai 12 inch Talking Big-O (again, the prototypes) -Banpresto Exclusive SD Big-O -Maxfactory Big O -Maxfactory Big Duo -Max Factory Big Fau -UNKOWN Dorothy with Cat form "Missing Cat" model -Unkown Griffin model -SD Big-O keychain DVD -Big-o season one DVD set -Big-O season two DVD set Books -Vol. One Big-O manga Collection -Vol. Two Big-O manga Collection -Vol. Three Big O manga Collection -Vol. Four Big-O manga Collection -Vol. Five Big-O manga Colletion -Vol. Six Big O manga Collection -Vol. One Big-O Lost Memory -Vol. Two Big-O Lost Memory -Paradigm Noise, A Novel -And that Official Guide to Big-O with the screenplay for Episode 26 If I have left out any essential Items, please list them. :) Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on July 26, 2007, 04:55:40 AM Looks like you caught most everything, but for the love of God fix the fact that you have the exact same poll up three times.
War. Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: The Ghost Of Ember on July 26, 2007, 09:50:07 AM Looks like you got 'em all. There's a few other fanmade garage kits floating around, like a big Dorothy doll one that a good deal of the old PFCer's had for some reason. I haven't actually seen that one online yet other than as pictures. There's also a really big Big O that's floating around Rinkya that the owners can't unload, mostly because they're asking for too damn much. Were the Max Factory Models every released? I know they never made it here to America, but they may have been released in Japan in limited quantities. I'd kill for some of those prototypes though.
Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Professor Vogler on July 26, 2007, 12:49:57 PM Now the important question is... what sort of sites still sell these or have them for auction?
In particular... -Vol. Six Big O manga Collection -Vol. One Big-O Lost Memory -Vol. Two Big-O Lost Memory I've got Vol 1-5 of the manga, and I've been searching everywhere for the last volume, and regardless of it being in Japanese I NEED the Lost Memory set :P Savebigo.com used to have a link to a site that would sell them (well the manga and DVDs, not sure about Lost Memory)... but I can't remember what that site was :-/ Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Mike on July 26, 2007, 01:25:20 PM I never read any of the manga, but I heard it was really good. I watch Rinkya too for nifty stuff, but I have yet to actually use it to buy anything. It might be worth checking out the USA version of Yahoo Auction, which is what Rinkya runs off the japanese version of, but meh. As for that site, I don't really recommend them. On one hand, yeah, they have a stock of everything Big O. At least as far as DVDs and manga. On the other, I ordered the manga set off of them. Mind you, it was around christ-mass season, but it was still a month or so off. It still took at least a month for me to recieve the set though. And their recompense? A dinky little Naturo poster that was barely larger than a magazine page. I've never seen Naturo and don't really care to. You probably better off looking for another importer. Edit: Scratch that about the Yahoo Auctions America, it looks like they're closing down their operations. Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Big Duo Enthusiest on July 26, 2007, 05:04:04 PM Thanks for the Feedback. Ok, two thing I would like to point out on is that...
A. I HAVE RECENTLY E-MAILED MAX FACTORY AND EXCEPT FOR A FET TECHNICAL DIFICULTIES, THEY WILL START PRODUCTION SOON AND B. I AN AT THIS MOMENT TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THE PROTOTYPES OF THE BIG-O FIGURES FROM TOYFAIR 2003 MADE BY BANDAI. I HAVE E-MAILED BANDAI AND THE OFFICIAL TOY FAIR WEBSITE, BUT IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A WEEK. SO NOW, BIG DUO-PHONE CALLS. If anyone has other infomation, please let the board know. As you can tell, I am a die-hard fan. The fact I am a die hard is that I was considered uncool by the Gundam comunity so, Big- came to my help three years ago. ;) Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Delirious on July 26, 2007, 06:31:56 PM Quote from: 6 Now the important question is... what sort of sites still sell these or have them for auction? I read the manga and have the last volume, the sixth one, and yeah its pretty good in its own right. I think the anime is better but one of the advantages of the manga is that its short so it doesn't feel like a Season Two rushjob, it deals more with the people dealing with their lives in Paradigm City rather than the religious undertones of the city and philosophical aspects.Oh, and Angel is a much more developed character in the manga as well. Needed R.D. though, that's one of the very few knocks I have against it. Peace. Lost memories was a 2-part arch that took place between the last two Big-O mangas Vol. 5 and Vol. 6. So basicaly, we can make our own Lost Memories, because we can predict what happened between the two volumes, and It would make some good fan fiction. So, any more questions. Well, being a Japan-holic, I love one thing just as much as Big-O. Godzilla. And belive it or not, many companies don't destroy the prototypes. Infact, if any of you are Godzilla fans, go to Clubtokyo.org. The people there have collected lots of prototypes for the Trendmaster Toys. And if Bandai does the same thing the Trendmaster company doses... :) Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: nicodemus on July 30, 2007, 11:32:45 PM Great thread! I don't know how comprehensive you wanted to get with this list but there are also the original DVD releases which came with about 4 eps. per disk (The Big O Vols. 1-4 and The Big O II Vols. 1-4). I remember the old days of waiting impatiently for each volume of season one to be released so I could watch the eps. I missed on Toonami. I never missed an episode of season two though ;D
This page has some info on model kits that were supposedly released and a picture of the Griffon model: http://www.benchcomics.com/casual/week004/ I am one of those so fortunate as to own the Dorothy garage kit that was mentioned earlier in the thread. In case you wanted to know more about them they were created by a little-known artist in Japan. He sold a few kits on his personal website for a while but it was a very limited number. Several members from the SaveBigO forums convinced him to dust of the mold and make a limited second run release or the kit available to those who reserved one and put down the cash (it was something like $50-$80). That's how I managed to get one :) Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Big Duo Enthusiest on July 31, 2007, 01:14:46 AM Quote from: 46 Great thread! Wile we were sure that we would have atleast one piece of Big-O merchandise comming out, us fans who are part of the forum have ben uncertaint of anything!LOL. And you are lucky, to have that Dorothy figure. But is it official merchandise, and if you want to get rid of it, you know who to give it to :) :) :). Second, thanks for the link. I have been looking for that site everywhere. And I did two years ago someone who sold a copy on a private website. But I rather settled down for Bandai's Figure with Dorothy and Roger. Thanks again. In 2002, Bandai America introcuced us Gozilla fans figures of Godzilla '54, Mothra '92, King Ghidorah '01 and Burning Godzilla. And well, I had to wait four years just for Bandai America to release the king Ghidorah figure and we are still waiting for that Mothra figure. I have learned patience. And if you relly want thiese figures, you would wait too. I wasn't being negative, but it just sounds cool. But beleve you me, sooner or Later the fans of Big Fau, the last of the original three Bigs, will start to want and their wanting will be more massive than all the rallies against Wal-Mart buying up property. And atleast-prototypes :) :) :). I always find a way. You just got to talk to the right people with the infomation. And thanks for the link of the old forum, I thought the photos lost forever. Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Mike on August 14, 2007, 05:30:48 PM Oh the donation thing hasn't been tried, but I'm pretty sure savebigos's strategy was to bombard Cartoon Network and Sunrise with letters asking for more Big O.
Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Galatea on August 14, 2007, 05:40:49 PM Which most probably won't work cus they're probably used to it (i sent on in a year ago).
I though they wanted to hire a dump truck full of tomatoes and drop them outside the Sunrise HQ or something. Now that would work! Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: The Ghost Of Ember on August 17, 2007, 02:28:16 AM I wouldn't describe SaveBigO as completely dead. More like in a coma. Stuck in limbo between life and death. If there was any fatal flaw to their strategy it was that they were too focused on Cartoon Network as the target for their campaign. This might've been a good idea right after the end of the second season, but it's pretty clear that Cartoon Network is no longer interested and even makes fun of those who push them for it. Maybe Targeting Sunrise or Bandai or someone if we could get enough of a show of hands might have more of an effect.
Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Readerman on August 17, 2007, 01:20:49 PM You're right about that, Ember, but there were two more huge problems with their strategy. Number one, the owners of the site let their success go to their heads. During the time when I used to go there, I saw that most of their time was spent on spamming about their site and boosting their stats instead of getting the word out about Big-O itself and coming up with new ideas. When I visit a site to get a season 3, I don't care how many posts are on their forums or how many hits they had last week or what new features were added to their software, I care about, you know, SEASON 3. They even had a contest to see how many people they could get on the forums at once to inflate their record. WTF?! Talk about not having their priorities straight. Maybe they made money off ads or something, I dunno.
Number two, they tried to do WAY more than they should have. Instead of just having news and information about how people could help with the campaign, the site was bloated with unnecessary stuff like forums, MP3 downloads, some kind of Big-O dictionary or something, and who knows what else. The end result was cluttered and confusing, and like I said before, it took away time that could have been spent on the campaign. Some guy on PCF (don't remember who, but I'll try to find the link) had a "Save Reboot" site that had a nice, streamlined approach with not much else beyond news and links. That's what SBO should have been. Much more effective and less confusing in my opinion. But yeah, SBO is kinda dead now, so let it rest in peace. We don't need to beg the webmasters to bring it back or bribe them, that's just lame. If we want a site to brainstorm about season 3, why doesn't someone start a new site/blog about it? Who says it HAS to be SBO or nothing? I'm thinking it's a little late to do anything about Big-O, but hey, if someone can start a new site to get the season 3 gears turning again, I'm all for it. Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Big Duo Enthusiest on August 17, 2007, 03:31:04 PM What about we have a Ressurect Big O thread as an alternative.
Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: Galatea on August 17, 2007, 07:54:34 PM I agree, does anyone have any objections?
Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: The Final Negotiator on September 21, 2007, 08:28:06 AM Galatea: No objections... I fully support the creation of a Ressurect Big O thread, so fire away.
However, it appears that this thread has started drifting off the topic, so if no one minds, and before anyone calls us on it, I'll steer it back again, and see you guys over on the bring back Big O thread... 8) Quote from: 31 Ok, one of the things that I would like to make seen is the lack of Merchandise for Big O. So what I have done is made a list of items wich if you don't have, maybe startled that they are even existant. And note, this is for a regular collector, because If you already got a copy of Both seasons of Big O in Region One, the international box would be worthless. But diffrent people have diffrent tastes. ... If I have left out any essential Items, please list them. :) OK, granted it's merchandise that's only partially Big O, but how about Super Robot Wars/Super Robot Taisen "Destiny" for the GameBoy Advance (somehow "Destiny" fits here): As quoted from Wikipedia.org: Quote Super Robot Wars Destiny (August 8, 2003): Series premiered: The Big O, Future Robo Daltanius, Getter Robo Armageddon, Macross 7, Megazone 23 (Currently being translated by Studio Llama) Unfortunately, it hasn't been translated into English yet, but you get to pilot a megadeus. How about that? ;D .The Final Negotiator. P.S. Readerman: I don't know if it's necessarily too late. I saw a YouTube Big O post dated September 13, 2007 (see my YouTube thread), and it's not alone. If only Cartoon Network and Sunrise realized there are still many Big O fans... Title: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: EyeOfPain on September 21, 2007, 09:03:57 AM There aren't any plans to localize Super Robot Wars? And that's, like, the only professional game (series?) with Big O and Roger Smith. Why does Japan get all the fun stuff...?

And that's, like, the only professional game (series?) with Big O and Roger Smith. Why does Japan get all the fun stuff...? According to that fascinating web resource out there, wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Robot_Wars#Games_In_English), only the 4 following games have been translated: Super Robot Wars (GB, translated by Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation) Super Robot Wars 3 (SNES, translated by Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation) Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation (GBA, translated by Atlus USA) Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 (GBA, translated by Atlus USA) However, if this letter campaign gets going, I wonder if we could ask Cartoon Network or Mr. Konaka, to suggest either "SRW Destiny" be translated, or Big O get's it's own game. At least add a megadeus profile to Mech Warrior or something... ;D Sometimes I ask myself the same question... That's not to say the classic American toys are lame (like Star Wars, Atari, Hot Wheels and Matchbox, Slinky, Silly Putty. Merlin, NERF, GI Joe, Tyco/AFX racing), or that there aren't a few standouts in the new American toys (Robotix, Micro Machines), but the Japanese did come up with: Micro RC cars Modern Console Game Systems Gobots Transformers Power-Trons Lots of other cool little toys... That's not to say the American toy industry is dead, but they need to re-focus on cool, original stuff, and not always movie merchandising... :) .The Final Negotiator. Title: Re: Big-O merchantdise List Post by: EyeOfPain on September 23, 2007, 01:38:04 AM Gobots ;D Just two Original Generation titles, though? Eh, thanks for looking it up. I couldn't find anything about The Big O in that Wiki article, but I'll keep looking over it. |
