Title: Area 88 (2004) Post by: Zaune on April 27, 2008, 08:11:05 PM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_88
Let's see... Believable, rounded characters? Check. Well thought-out, intelligent plot? Check.[/li][/list] Nearly impeccable technical and period detail? Check. Gorgeous, seamlessly-integrated CGI battle sequences? Check. Captivating soundtrack? Check. Half-decent English dub? Check. [/hopeless_fanboy] A protagonist whose hairstyle is improbable even for a show set in the 1980s? Very check. (Interestingly, in the original 1985 mini-series his hair was actually relatively restrained, though he bore a noticeable resemblance to Heero Yuy; in the remake he looks more like a blonde Trowa.) Oh, and I have fanfic of this looking for a beta-reader. Any takers? Title: Re: Area 88 (2004) Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on May 05, 2008, 07:55:13 AM Area 88 is a fun show, always a good watch. And I actually agree on the dub, as I generally find ADV's dubs to suffer from overrated syndrome.
Title: Re: Area 88 (2004) Post by: Zaune on May 05, 2008, 12:34:01 PM I prefer subtitles for most animé; they never quite seem to quite lose a certain awkwardness to my ears, though ADV did a pretty good job on this one.

Even though some of the songs were exciting or smooth, I didn't really feel like they stood out from what I've heard in a number of other animes. I'll give some episodes a look-see, though.
Title: Re: Area 88 (2004) Post by: Bllue on May 25, 2008, 06:03:00 PM The style of art is very common, don't you think? The plot does seem very interesting, not at all a typical story. ( I haven't seen it yet) most likely something i could stand. Is it on Youtube?
