Title: MFL
Post by: Sigma on October 08, 2008, 01:16:12 PM
Hello, A few people and I are attempting to recreate the Megadeus Fighting Leage that once existed on the old Paradigm-City forums, help to accomplish this would be appreciated.

For those that have never heard of the MFL, it was once a RP game for Big O fans in which you created your own Megadeus and would challenge one another to battle. The roleplaying was quite fun and we wish that wish your help, we as a community can revive this great memory. :)

Here is the current site for the MFL:

Would be awesome if it came back in full force. I never joined in the fun, but enjoy reading the battles.

Yeah. We were pretty bummed out when we saw that there was no more MFL anywhere. That's why we started this XD

The MFL started out fun, but they the rules got REALLY complicated and every fight turned into a pissing match where the winner was the one who knew more quantum mechanics and theoretical astrophysics.

Quoted for justice.
Make it so.

A set of simple rules enforced by experienced moderators could help prevent that problem.

Or a set of rules carefully designed to prevent such abuse of the system.

This is true. I remember watching matches, and then mid battle a fight would break out that lasted 4 pages which caused the MFL to be closed for a few days, then open back up to repeat the process.

Although like many people said, a set of fair rules over seen by experienced moderators can remedy that.

But what about the masters of theoretical astrophysics and rulers of quantum mechanics to outdo those not so? Even simple rules cannot overthrow these types. Made my Big Soh concept bad for the MFL.

Need to find Jinbu again...I lost the data...then again, I need to watch Dual! PTA again. Haven't seen it in forever and it's damn near impossible to find...for me anyway.

I find the "*slap* NO!" approach works there.

I was just trying to point out that the MFL was a place for mecha battles, not science contests.

Though some may disagree o_o

People used SCIENCE and/or philosophy and/or dieties to smudge the rules, which led to other people smudging the rules back, and so on and so forth.

I'm a fan of the rules being smudge-proof.  At least from big ones.

Yeah. I packed away all of my science textbooks. I'm just going to put in a flux capacitor so I can go back in time to when the smudging occurred and kill the pilot and the core before the smudging smudges everything up.

ideally I think the MFL was just something new and different... sure there were always Fighting RP's and mech RP's (gundam)... but nothing for Big O and all the crazy Memory-driven mumbojumbo that went on in association.

That's why I liked it. Could create your own megadeus in a show that had amazingly crazy designs... and of course count on some sort of random dramatic dialogue between characters that hinted at deeper plots that never ever got fleshed out (until they did, and the world died...twice). I really loved that RP... and I don't care much for other RPs. Good times before the world ended. (even then I like how I ended it ;) muahahahaa)

So what are we going to do?

The re-creation is pretty much ready. It just needs to be kicked off.

I'm surprised you guys haven't kicked off battles on the MFL forums. Hoping it starts soon.

I tried my best to keep my fights clean. Although I got only one win, I think I stayed on the up-and-up.

Also it looks like this revival got shot down... Hmm, what to do... OH YES, provide a new revival attempt! That will be soon. I'm just cleaning up the rules. They should be familiar to veterans and understandible to new players alike. It won't have the old MFL name, and the arena will be different, but good old-fashioned mech-on-mech action will commence soon.

Oh... I was Ensign Minneapolis in the old days. Several regenerations ago. ~.^ I miss this so much now... time to get the fires of war lit once more!

Seems like the revival crashed and burned again. Doh!

Do I even have an account at the MFL? I don't remember.
