Title: Summer Jobs
Post by: R. Daniel 01 on August 12, 2009, 11:06:07 PM
Who's got 'em? What employment do you hold?

Even now, with Summer almost ending, I have not found one. A dozen applications amount to nothing. Although, a Junior Graphic Designer position shows promise, as the hiring director said he would "contact me as soon as possible." *crosses fingers*

Baltimore is not a hotbed of activity.

Cutting grass, but only one yard, which is my parents. I tried looking earlier but the economy is a joke, so no dice.

Change Hype we can believe in, amirite?

Sucks major balls. Are you still in school?

You know what, though... even though we're in recession, I haven't seen any signs of it up close. Sure, guys like us don't have the Summer jobs and all, but we're like society's fluff at our current level of education/certification, so that's not unexpected. I live in Baltimore, and you probably know its rep, but I haven't seen an increased number of homeless people on the streets or anything.

My friends who have graduated engineering or research have found jobs, and I regularly see ads those jobs.

For me, this recession has reinforced my opinions about career choices, and confirmed my values. There are only two fields that reliably drive a civilization and its economies forward. I'm not going to force anybody, but I'm going to strongly encourage my kids to go into engineering and research. What I do not want is a family of lib-arts majors. Lib-arts is a false god. It's Pyrite.

I didn't graduate from high school, mostly because the staff screwed me over big time, however my general laziness didn't help. I'm pretty sure I could be a job working for the city or helping my dad with his land scalping business. Either way, I get by pretty well.

As for the recession, I honestly think it's been blown way outta proportion. I haven't noticed much in the way of unemployment and numerous places are still hiring like crazy. However, I must admit, I like watching Cali. go down the crapper.
