Was it a stupid decision? Probably, but I still haven't watched the last episode, so I don't know if the ending was worth it. On top of that, I really had nothing substantial to say, I just wanted to complain. About the ending of Endless Eight: I don't think this will be a spoiler, but it wasn't special or super-dramatic. It had several cute moments, but nothing in the Haruhi tradition. Some people have been optimistic that, even with 8 episodes wasted on this mundane arc, the remaining bunch will still shine. Season 1 pushed the limits! Season 2 is a low-key slice-of-life comedy. Its similarities to Season 1 are superficial. Problem is, Haruhi makes a poor slice-of-life comedy. There's no room for character development. According to the rules established in Season 1, if anyone in the SOS Brigade created personal drama that might somehow involve Haruhi, the universe itself could collapse. |
