It's just straigt up undead nazis getting offed and awesome shit mixed with dumb parts where it attempts comedy,those parts suck. Except at one point the dracula-guy halucinates about Bruce Willis.)

It's AWESOME. I've seen up to the 4th one. Where the Nazis take over an aircraft carrier, Rip Van Winkle shoots everything down with her magic flintlock so Alucard has to get on board by ramming a goddamn SR-71 into the deck.

You are explaining this wrong.

An undead nazi with an enchanted flintlock musket takes over a carrier. Then a vampire controlled by a shadow-government of anglicans kamikazes a SR-71 Blackbird spy jet into the boat.

Then he gets rowdy and violent as fuck and absorbs the broad with the gun, and he's dressed like a 19th century pimp or something during it.

The show is just insane and violent as hell, this is why its the only animu I'm watching.

At one point the undead nazis break into the shadow-anglican HQ with an army of zombies. Who eat most of the anglicans' private army. While shouting the Konami Code.

Then their vampire goes from Victorian-age pimp to 15th century murdering asshole and EATS the undead nazis.

Hellsing OAV=epic.

Simply said. I've seen up to 4, and I own 2, with the Valentine brothers.

Seen up to VI, but never got subs for the latest episode. I had trouble waiting for Geneon/FUNi to release the past two OVAs.

Also: indescribably fucking awesome.

I liked the Hellsing OVAs a lot better than the other anime series.

The only thing I think they could have done better was the music. A lot of the music in the OVA seemed a bit too much the same.

The music isn't quite as varied as the television series', but it's been steadily improving.

I could go for watching Hellsing Ultimate on AS. But...they'd have to edit the crap out of it, and that would just suck.

It started as a manga. And I'm 99% sure that the manga is still ongoing.

Very much still ongoing. And actually, Hellsing Ultimate follows the Manga, but there was another Hellsing that only follows part of it.

The manga series is set to end next month with Volume 10. The creator Kouta Hirano announced that he will work on his new project titled Drifters.

It ended in Japan like a year and a half ago, just now getting published in a single volume in America, though.

He's already started Drifters. I've read the first three chapters.

Didn't quite stick with me, but it was satisfactory. I'm just not too interested in comic books/manga.

It not only does, it also has a sub-manga called "crossfire" which is about two nuns from the catholic spec-ops side of the hellsing manga (one dual-wields pistols, chain smokes, and wears the clothing of a priest, the other goes into a psychotic break and murders stuff with a sword when her glasses fall off). I have always said that they could make an animu of that plotline. Ninja nuns, how would that not work.


edit: From my understanding the hellsing manga does end, or has, and the ending I've heard is that the last bit of it is England rebuilding from the millennium invasion, alucard is dead (but implied he can't really die), and seras is the replacement alucard by that point.

Wasn't there another side manga where Alucard and Walter kill the shit out of huge numbers of Nazis during WWII? And Alucard is in the form of a little girl for some reason.

lol. Drifters has provided me with much lulz. It's absurd even by Japanese standards, but still good fun.

As is pretty much every character, aside from the three leads.

I don't know one way or the other about Twilight -- it might be giddy teen gibberish, but I've always had a weakness for over-the-top melodrama -- but I can tell you I did dislike the original Hellsing anim-thing (why the hell is everyone saying "animu"? Are we trying to deceive the 'bots again?).

And I disliked it because... well, nothing ever happened. Because Alucard wins every damn fight in one shot. And the vampires he fights are dumbass punks who were neglected by their parents and have angst issues (making them amazingly like the Twilight vampires). And I'm tired of everyone with their covert occult organizations and their conspiracy theories revolving around evil scientists trying to create artificial [insert random fantasy/horror creature here].

Honestly, even Trinity Blood's in on that racket.

Abel Nightroad's transformation ritual is a total ripoff of Alucard's. But I like Abel's better for some reason. Maybe because the thing he turns into has a name. And does something. Other than what he does when not in his super-thing form.

But I will give Alucard this: he does not brood. He might get grumpy, he might even frown disapprovingly, but he does not brood.

If we're doing comics, I'd like to see Seras vs. Bella. One on one.

The first four OVAs are/were available on DVD, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to find right now. FUNimation recently acquired the license to V-VII, so they might re-release the I-IV in some kind of economy package.

I found II easy enough. But I live within walking distance of a really big FYE.

FYE's are still around? I hope you got it during a sale.

That's actually not a bad place to start, since I is mostly retelling of the same story that the first six or so episodes of the TV anime covered, only way better.
