The movie has gotten me into collecting figures again. Damn you Michael Bay, Damn you to hell. I've got to say, while G1 was a huuuuuuuge nostalgia factor for me, actually going back and watching the series lately, I can't get over how incredibly cheesy the series is at times. I mean, it was the eighties and it was a children show, so it has two strikes against it from the start, but it is unintentionally hilarious a great deal of the time. Still, giant transforming alien robots? The concept is every young boys wet dream, you know, until he grows up and gets the actual ones.

Now that your reeling from that mental image, I shall continue.

Say what you will about th cheesiness of the series though, at least the eighties could innovate instead of producing remake after remake as we are doing now. Except when you consider the Transfomers were somehow ripoffs of the Go-Bots, so maybe I'm wrong. Beast Wars is the greatest thing ever though, yeeesss. And it couldn't of happened without the original.

Needs more Orson Welles.

I remember like zero of the actual show except this one scene where a VW Beetle transforms into something.

Beast Wars and Beast Machines were really, really cool. Mainframe entertainment for the win, I guess.

He's apparently not very popular amongst G1 fans. Yosh, the movies was good and made of fun, but I never got into Beast Wars, really. Too much time travel drama, I guess.

beast Wars was cool, but yeah, the time travel was confusing.

"we're from after the war from the G1 show is over, so we're millions of years older than the Autobots and Decepticons, but we went back in time to just after they crashed."

I thought about going into Transformer colecting, but I already have one unhealthy obsession (lookatmyusertheme) and that's enough in cost for now. Though the Majin Buu plushie someone gave me is oh so cool.

Indeed. Worth the $60. The transformation sequence is REALLY complicated. Like crazy. All kinds of twisting and unfolding and refolding that makes you realize that in the cartoon Robot Optimus really can't turn into Truck Optimus without magic.
The damn thing has separate grilles for the truck and for his stomach.

I never relly liked Transformers. The only one I realy cared for is Optimus Prime. And they messed hm up in the film. He is supposed to be a firetruck, not a race car wanna be! But Optimus prime is cool.

No, he's supossed to be a blue and red 18-wheeler, which he was in the movie.

There was one show, from like 5 years ago, one of those "re-imaginings" where he was a firetruck. I think it was Transformers Armada.

Oh, yea that was the one.  But what is with it that the fact that every time he shot Megatron he wouldn't die, just threaten Optimus prime more. I'm like gosh.

Firetruck? So he could what, squirt water all over megatron or something so that he would short circuit?

No. Convoy was a semi. There was an alternate convoy who was a firetruck, but this was not Optimus.

One of my favorite things: Ravage was on Beast Wars for like 2 or 3 episodes. He transformed into a cassette, USING THE ORIGINAL TRANSFORMING NOISE!!!

Anyway, There is no G1 Unicron for some dumb reason, but yet it was the only character protrayed correctly on Energon.

It was done correctly enough that my friend, who has almost every Transformer from the G1 set, bought it.

Didn't it have Optimus turn into a plane at one point? So much fail out of Japan lately.

I suppose they wanted prime to be able to attack starsceam more efficiently, we also fuse with a space shuttle thing or something, i can;t remember cus i've only seen an episode here and there.

80's show: Win.
Beast Wars: Win.
Beast Machines: Semi-fail.
Transformers shows done after that: Mega-fail.

Ravage had been the only Decepticon who didn't retire or somesuch, and was re-fitted into a Decepticon.  I'm fairly sure he showed up at the end of Season one, for the two-parter season finale cliff-hanger.

Disagree, Beast Wars was full of fail to me, the whole timeline thing was fooed up. However i must admit that i've watched the whole thing once on free to air tv, it was the only thing good on when i got back from school.

And to all you have said, I do believe it to be correct.

And I took note of something. Starscream was one of the few characters that, in robot form, was almost always the same, no matter what version of Transformers. *is donning Decepticon Emblem shirt today*

I was thinking of getting a giant Decepticon patch for my leather jacket. Then I thought why spoil a perfectly good leather jacket? Damn it.

Unicron was awesome, though, in all his planet-eating glory. Like a big robotic Galactus, only moderately cooler.
