Title: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: R. Daniel 01 on March 02, 2010, 09:02:03 AM You're welcome! (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-03-02/gundam-uc-1st-7-minutes-now-streaming-in-english)
Consider it a seven-minute teaser trailer. The quality is off the charts. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Wingnut on March 02, 2010, 11:27:15 AM Allow me to give a Youtube link to the same video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxC_y25e2oI) so people don't have to wait forever for the thing to load.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Yuko-san on March 02, 2010, 08:52:56 PM Video keeps freezing. can you guys give me a quick summary.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Wingnut on March 03, 2010, 11:42:10 AM You shouldn't have that problem with the Youtube link, but okay.
It's the dawn of the Universal Century calendar with 20 minutes remaining until it goes into effect and the prime minister of the Earth Federation is giving a speech about it at a Stanford Torus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_torus) type space colony. However, a group of terrorists mess with the upper mirror so that instead of a gentle bathing of sunlight, it focuses the light like a magnifying glass and burns a gaping hole in the colony which destroys it. The terrorists are them selves blown up when their escape shuttle explodes with a single survivor, a young man who floats past a marker of sorts that is drifting among the wreckage. (And bears a striking resemblance to the protagonist of the OVA.) Cut to early April, UC 0096 where that same man is now very old and talks with his son about what they are about to do and how it could create chaos on a level never before known if they screw up, but that they must in order to correct the problems with the Earth Sphere in the Universal Century. The old man notes that a certain kind of people are emerging (newtypes) that could be entrusted with Laplace's box (the marker he found in space) The old man asks his son if he could possibly forgive him, and the son replies that if no one else would, he can. (Cue title card and scene change) The space freighter Garencieres is under attack by a Federation Clop class warship and a young girl in one of the cabins prepares herself for it. The Clop launches mobile suits and the Zeon ship responds by launching the mobile suit Kshatriya to intercept. The combat that follows must be seen for yourself as I can't do it justice with words although it does cut off in mid-scene which is a strong incentive for one to buy the product I suppose. (Or hunt down the fansub and see it that way.) Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Yuko-san on March 03, 2010, 09:15:26 PM awe, thank you.
youtube sometimes doesn't work on my machine for some reason. can't wait for this gundam, sounds really good. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on March 03, 2010, 09:38:18 PM Sexy! I know I'm gonna pick up a Blu Ray of this when it comes out. Also Rachael Lillis? Awesome. Seems to be a good mix of voice actors, then again it's recorded at NYAV's L.A studio.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Mike on March 03, 2010, 10:52:31 PM Holy crap, that was BAD ASS.
Gundam has been a series of letdowns starting with SEED. From everything I've heard, this is the redemption of the franchise. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Professor Vogler on March 04, 2010, 03:57:46 AM New Gundam = yay
a better new Gundam than we've seen for about a decade = moar yay being released on Blu-Ray = meh I'd like a regular DVD thank you. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on March 04, 2010, 05:07:44 AM New Gundam = yay a better new Gundam than we've seen for about a decade = moar yay being released on Blu-Ray = meh I'd like a regular DVD thank you. Pretty sure they will release DVD version as well. Also ditto on better new Gundam shows. Gundam 00 goes to shit after about 20 episodes. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Mike on March 04, 2010, 10:37:27 PM Wow, in that case, I'm glad I never got past the 4th episode or so.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on March 04, 2010, 11:12:25 PM Wow, in that case, I'm glad I never got past the 4th episode or so. Indeed. The second season is even worse Mike. If I had to describe it in as few words as I can... Gundam SEED comes to mind. Actually, Gundam 00 as a whole gives me a Gundam SEED vibe. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Yuko-san on March 05, 2010, 08:15:53 PM Last Gundam I saw was Seed, the original 6 episodes anyway. if this Gundam is better then spin offs I keep seeing then I'll be happy.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Mike on March 06, 2010, 03:00:17 PM SEED started out as a hollow imitation of the original series, and then the plot went nowhere, so I gave up after a like 4 episodes. The mecha designs were pretty cool, though. I had the 1/60 Strike Gundam with all three special packs.
I like that they're going back to UC. Now if only they would re-animate the three movies made out of the original series. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Yuko-san on March 06, 2010, 09:11:26 PM I have the digitally remastered versions of the original Gundam movies. I haven't had the chance to watch them yet.
Does Ecol du Ceile count as a spin off? It apparently takes place after the original Gundam by a few years. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: EyeOfPain on March 07, 2010, 11:37:38 AM Pretty sure they will release DVD version as well. The only DVD I've heard of is Region 2, and since Unicorn is being distributed directly by Bandai Japan, you may be out of luck, Vogler. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Sharpshooter005 on March 07, 2010, 02:21:30 PM This reminds me, I never saw all of 08TH MS Team. Which from what I remember, finally answered my question of "What would these gigantic mechs japan are obsessed with look like involved in a full on war instead of battling monsters or whatever"
(Someone lent me the dvds..this was in high school..I forgot entirely and still have them) Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Mike on March 07, 2010, 06:25:13 PM 08th MS Team is really good. Kind of like they took Vietnam, and added giant robots and one guy who decided he was too cool for his antipsychotics.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Char Aznable on March 08, 2010, 01:27:14 AM 1. Yay Gundam! Looks epic!
2. Want standard DVD. Don't have Blu-Ray player. I have 360. I had this list of four other things I was noticing, because I was noticing all of the technology that showed up in UC 0093-ish, and I saw it ending AD and starting UC, then I saw in big letters "UC 0096" and just erased it, going "ohhhhhh that's why there's Jegans, Psychoframes, Funnels, and a hyped up Hizack with Quin Mantha wings." I wonder, will Char pull his classic move and make an appearance after disappearing in the last thing he was in, like he does every time. Vanish in MSG, appear in Zeta, vanish again, show up and take over Neo Zeon. Vanish again at the end of CCA...will he come back again? That's how I always saw it. Unicorn does have a masked bad guy named "Full Frontal" and yes, that is one weird ass name. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Wingnut on March 08, 2010, 11:17:42 AM Official word is that Full Frontal is indeed someone else intentionally made up to be like Char for psychological effect. The Char that was Casval Daikun is still quite dead. No english VA has been announced for Full Frontal yet, but Shuichi Ikeda will be doing the Japanese voice for the character.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Char Aznable on March 09, 2010, 02:20:55 AM The thing is, it only implied that Char and Amuro died. So...you never actually know.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Wingnut on March 09, 2010, 10:48:13 AM Actually I do know for a fact that Full Frontal is not Char, but saying it would be a spoiler.
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: R. Daniel 01 on March 16, 2010, 01:19:27 AM Finally saw a whole episode of original Gundam. Funny how this Newgrounds-quality animation has better writing and more interesting battles than most of the spinoffs.
Someone has finally, legally uploaded it to YouTube. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on March 16, 2010, 06:35:56 PM Finally saw a whole episode of original Gundam. Funny how this Newgrounds-quality animation has better writing and more interesting battles than most of the spinoffs. Someone has finally, legally uploaded it to YouTube. Pretty much this. Also, Sunrise, more U.C and less A.U (unless its as good as Gundam X). Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Mike on March 16, 2010, 06:51:24 PM Gundam X was AWESOME.
Well, except for the story arc about Newtype dolphins. That was weird. So, of course, they canceled it 10 or so episodes early. And then Gundam Wing happened, which I can't stand, but was a huge success. Go figure. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Char Aznable on March 16, 2010, 10:14:43 PM Gundam X...wasn't that the one with the Turn A and the Turn X?
Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on March 16, 2010, 10:26:57 PM Gundam X...wasn't that the one with the Turn A and the Turn X? Gundam X is the most similar to U.C as far as A.U's go. It also had a neat Post Apoc. setting. Shame it got canned at only 39 episodes. Title: Re: Gundam UC 7 Minute Clip Post by: Mike on March 17, 2010, 07:33:00 PM The premise of Gundam X is that there was a war, which was broadly similar to the One Year War in UC. The big difference was the ending: The rebelling Spacenoids threw a shitload of colonies at the earth and pretty much ruined everything, but it's not super-bleak post-apocalypticia like Fallout.
