Title: Trigun
Post by: seraphjei on August 02, 2007, 05:57:08 AM
Trigun is going to be getting a new additions to its canon. Although the anime is complete the manga is still running. There is to be an animated Trigun movie that is to be released this year. It is being produced by Madhouse. Check the wiki for more details.

Even after so many years Trigun still stands as one of my personal all time favorites.

Trigun made anime fun again for me. After all the bad crap aired by Adult Swim, to watch this and Scryed was fun. I hope to see more high flying DBZ-esque hijinks in the future.

s-CRY-ed? You gotta be kidding me?

That's one of the WORSE anime series I've ever seen.

I paid no attention to the bad philosophy. The action sequences and fights with Kazuma were awesome.

Oh... than yeah, I guess that sort of makes sense.

Maybe that's what I should have done. That really could have been the anime version of X-Men to a degree, but they fucked it up, Hard.

Oh wow! That Trigun movie is FINALLY coming out!? :o I remember hearing rumor about that in friggin 2003! What's taken em so long?

Anyway, Trigun is a damn good series. Haven't read the manga (don't particular like mangas) but the anime was very good.

I watched the anime and read the manga, and while I wasn't super-impressed with it, it's still pretty good, with a strangely high popularity. I might watch this movie, if/when it comes out, just to see if it measures up to its roots.

I always liked Trigun. It kind of silly, with little bits of seriousness, then got really serious toward the end but kept its little bits of silliness.
One thing I didn't like was that they didn't really explain the whole Plant thing that Knives and Vash are. But other than that, good show.

Yeah, they NEVER EXPLAIN THAT. At least with DBZ they tell you what the hell a Saiyan is. Plants, though...

I kept thinking of my stepmother's azalias.

Before anyone goes "HAY WUT GUN DOEZ VASH USE" cause I see that periodically.

Its some insane schofield (break-action) revolver, but the barrel is actually upside down and the things got a freaky as hell looking barrel and no, nothing really like it exists or ever has. Or...well the schofield did as far as the gun breaking open in half to load.

Wolfwoods guns are some weird sort of colt commander as far as the pistols, I think. The trigger guards off though I think, I haven't seen this show in years.

And Milly's gun is just insane and nonsensical and fires iron crosses but its okay because LOL SHES TALL AND ODD.

And meryl just has derringers.

(No really, pretty much every forum I've ever been on which has any thread involving trigun gets the inevitable "HAY WHAT GUNS ARE ALL THESE" question, figured I'd just end it here)

I always thought Vash's gun was cooler than Alucard's, simply because huge revolvers are inherently cooler than huge semi-automatics.

Plus break-top weapons just look damned cool even though it would probably explode when you fired it.

Vash lacks a badass name for his gun. Minus points.

Guns don't need kickass names if they're cool enough. Look at the Walther PPK and Walther P99 for examples.

Like I said, I think there are cooler guns without being named "THE JACKAL" or "RIPPER" or "BRAINSPATTER" or something similar.

Vash's gun doesn't need a name because it's not about what the gun can do, it's about what he can do with the gun.

H&K USP .45 Auto. Enough is said.

Okay thats a gun from...later than 1947. So if someone could explain to me...the "auto" part.

I mean its clearly semiautomatic, so thats implied...it's not a machinepistol (if it is, everything I have known about USPs/firearms in general/the world around me is a lie), so whats going on here

Title: Trigun
Post by: Mike on August 08, 2007, 06:44:36 PM
.45 auto is what they call it nowadays, so you know it's not the old-school revolver .45 round from the old west.

Title: Trigun
Post by: Sharpshooter005 on August 08, 2007, 06:48:41 PM
So...it's just .45 ACP

Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 08, 2007, 10:14:11 PM
Yes, Sharp. It's just a .45 ACP.

The auto being on the slide seems superfluous...I mean...from my understanding, H&Ks are not cheap. Like these aren't snub nosed .38s you buy from a guy selling fake rolexes. If you purchase one, you're probably aware .45 colt (or..'long colt', which I dont think was ever an official name, it was called that unofficially though, still is) isn't .45 ACP. Or something like .45 long colt isn't your whole area so it'd never cross your mind.

Furthermore, are they even the same size. I can't think they are, would a .45 colt round even FIT in the magazine? Oh well..I once saw a shotgun which literally had "consult manual before use" emblazoned on the side, I keep waiting to see an "aim away from face" warning on one. So who knows.

So my plans to create some patrician class armed with matchlocks, H&K USPs, and 1860 Colts is all for naught?

(Also I need to find someone who can confirm if that cylinder wedge on the colt dragoon is too lose, also the...I forget the technical term..'safety notches'..on my colt, the one that lets you rest the hammer between chambers without it sliding, which the remington lacks, if those are worn away..seems like it, I can still move it on that with my hand. My Colt, as in the one which I never fired and was/is only mine lacks this problem..its also slightly smaller and cooler.)

Trigun's always be one of my top favorites, right behind Berserk, actually. I'm glad they are making the movie. Also the manga is actually better than the show IMO.

Trigun looked good. I have not yet seen Berserk, but I plan on watching some of it. honestly, though, it seems the big things these days is rehashing old anime and cartoons for all they're worth. Live Action Evangelion, Trigun movie, so on and so on...

I'm waiting for some small Japanese film company to get the rights from Toriyama for a Dragon Ball Z film.

I loved Trigun, in my opinion, one of the best animes ever, right up there with Cowboy Bebop and the likes, I hope this movie is worth the wait.

I've heard about this movie, and does anyone know what its all about?

Also yeah, the manga is leagues better than the anime. You get a better in-depth look and aspect into what Vash and his brother really are, as far as the whole "Plant" thing is concerned anyway.
Peace.

I like Trigun because it has some of everything in it. Unique characters, plenty of action, plenty of comedy, and a lot more.

I'm assuming it will be something like Hellsing Ultimate and do a more faithful rendition of the manga, OR, it will be a continuation of the anime and have more closure. I have always prayed for a Trigun OVA that will follow the manga and cover the whole bit with the eye of Michael, this is doubtful however.

From what I've heard, it'll be a complete remake. After all, there were so many things changed in the anime, I don't think it would even be possible to continue from where it left off.

Vash's gun is supposed to be based on this inverted barrel gun:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mateba_Autorevolver

The anime's pretty good. I like how they occasionally break the suspense with a little humor.

I don't think it looks much like the Mateba Autorevolver except for the fact the barrel is inverted, but I guess that would be the closest real life comparison.

It's still coming along, about 2-3 months ago nightow said the progress is moving along, and they are in the post production phase.

Happy to say, I finally finished watching the entire anime series. Like some have mentioned, I've though of consulting the manga for some explanations, but overall I "got" most of it.

Vash's and Knives' guns don't have names because those particular weapons are essentially extensions of their owners...

The animated movie is supposed to be out sometime this year. Apparently, a Trigun video game (PS 2)was also supposed to be released, but as of this month, that has been cancelled. Maybe they'll create a PS 3 version?

Yeah, I 'm not sure what's up with the movie myself Final. I was under the assumption that it was suppose to be release this year. That Trigun game is either canned or they just don't wanna saying about it.
