Title: Higurashi Post by: seraphjei on August 02, 2007, 04:09:25 PM I Highly, highly, highly recommend Higurashi to anyone who watches anime.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni I'm usually not one who enjoys the horror anime genre, but Higurashi has a different spin and it's just too interesting to pass up. The whole killer loli concept seriously doesn't get old. If I could summarize the anime in one sentence it would be... "Cute girls end up going insane and start killing people." (http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/4935/2006050211465476581383hk.gif) I suggest you guys check it out at the very least, it's being fansubbed at the moment. One season is complete, and the second season is sill running. It's somewhat in the same league as Elfen Lied, so if you enjoyed that show, You'll probably enjoy Higurashi. Title: Higurashi Post by: Galatea on August 02, 2007, 09:06:52 PM I agree, when i can i'll be watching the second season that has more of the answer arcs in it than the first.

Try Veoh, they have everything. Title: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 06, 2007, 01:53:55 AM Veoh? Never heard of them. I even checked Fry's Electronics, and they have almost all the obscure anime stuff along with the mainstream crap.
War. Title: Higurashi Post by: seraphjei on August 06, 2007, 03:21:42 AM Veoh is like youtube, without all the bullshit. Veoh mostly has fansubs, so its a good source for anime.

Title: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 07, 2007, 09:15:01 AM So I'm watching Higurashi... and the main cast dies, like, 4 or 5 times in different ways. What the f**k is going on here? Am I missing something? Is there point to all thi-- oh, Keiichi died again. Big surprise.
War. Title: Higurashi Post by: Galatea on August 07, 2007, 10:52:25 PM It consists of 'question' and 'answer arcs'. The question ones are usually where Keichi is in the middle of the plot trying to figure out what's going on, why it's going on, and killing some people himself sometimes in the process. the answer arcs are where the view point of the other main characer (usually one of the girls) shows there side of the story and why certain people suddely turned up dead and stuff like that. Not all of the question arcs are answered in the first season which is why one must watch the second season which has just started to come out (i think they're only up to episode 4)

And its only getting more awesome. I'm starting to finally tis in the differences between all the murders. Title: Higurashi Post by: Galatea on August 07, 2007, 10:57:22 PM I had trouble doing that, i had to watch the arcs somewhat simultaneously to understand the whole deal.
Title: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 07, 2007, 11:01:32 PM Yeah, but the first three episodes have, like, NOTHING to do with the entire rest of the series.

Quote Endless June It's a pretty big spoiler, but if you haven't finish the first season you won't get it. I'm just praying to god when everything connects it will be worth it, I almost gagged when Rena hypothesized that aliens are the cause of Oyashirio-sama's curse, which is still a possibility. I hope not.Title: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 07, 2007, 11:33:58 PM Quote from: 47 This is true, but you'll later discover why people keep dieing and things keep reseting itself. I hope not. I saw the whole season. The first three episodes still have literally no connection to the rest of the series except for a flashback scene in the second to last episode. Seems sort of contrived really. Weakened the show in my eyes. War. Title: Higurashi Post by: Sharpshooter005 on August 09, 2007, 01:18:39 AM First episode almost put me to sleep when DM showed it to me.
Granted I was already tired, but still that can't be good Title: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 09, 2007, 01:52:01 AM The first episode has literally nothing to do with the rest of the series. The first episode is all cutesy and crap, then BAM!-- lolis be putting needles in your meatballs.
Yes, I realize how wrong that sounds. War. Title: Higurashi Post by: Galatea on August 09, 2007, 02:12:36 AM I don't think it was a good idea to eat pizza and watch an old lady get tasered and whipped by shion (or mion, i still don't know).
The part that that really freaked me out was the whole nailing ripping episode, i could fell my fingers so bad... :'( Title: Higurashi Post by: seraphjei on August 09, 2007, 02:29:24 AM Quote from: 20 I don't think it was a good idea to eat pizza and watch an old lady get tasered and whipped by shion (or mion, i still don't know). I have it memorized for future reference. Title: Higurashi Post by: Galatea on August 09, 2007, 02:33:35 AM Although it must have caned like hell, as that arc progresses their fingers seem to heal very fast, the power of the demon maybe?
Title: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on August 09, 2007, 03:14:44 AM Nails grow back fast. I tore off one of my toenails. I know this.
War. Title: Higurashi Post by: Sharpshooter005 on August 09, 2007, 06:36:30 AM Syriana is probably worse as far as nail-tearing scenes.
Or it clearly was, since that was a live-action movie. Title: Re: Higurashi Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on March 08, 2008, 08:48:09 AM So I'm watching the second season and becoming even further confused. Also, I forgot to mention that Keiichi and Rena having a swordfight between a cleaver and an aluminum baseball bat on the roof of a school is amazingly hilarious.

By the way, I've heard the ending to HiguKai (Season 2) explains everything. Title: Re: Higurashi Post by: Bllue on March 11, 2008, 12:17:40 AM how do you watch this?
i have a frind who stubbed her toe and her toe nail came off... it was gross... Post 333!!!!!! Title: Re: Higurashi Post by: seraphjei on March 11, 2008, 05:43:47 PM how do you watch this? i have a frind who stubbed her toe and her toe nail came off... it was gross... I watched for the same reason I watched Reservoir Dogs, cause it's badass. Not that i'm comparing Higurashi to Reservoir Dogs in anyway. I just like anime that aren't simply about the cliched romance, and so Higurashi filled that void for a few months. Now in retrospect the show wasn't all THAT great. Second season was considerably worse, and the third season will countinue to degenerate until we have ourselves another victim of sequelitis. Title: Re: Higurashi Post by: Bllue on March 12, 2008, 11:52:54 AM you didn't answer my question... i said how, not why...

A third season of Higurashi has been announced. I know it's based off a visual novel and all, but Higurashi is approaching a dangerous level of milking. |
