Nintendo gets its foot in the door on a new hand-held console! (http://wii.ign.com/articles/811/811180p1.html)

They're on a roll, this company.

I have a distinct feeling that if impact is going to be a input method, that these new handhelds will should be deployed in Iraq to block most if not all insurgent projectiles.

Also, 2 reasons why Guitar Hero 3 will kick ass:

I don't think they are the same colour, but they will look that way to someone with poor screen quality. The links are actually a very dark gray, I think. I've never had difficulty telling links and text apart on this forum, at least.

Never happening. Closest you'll get is that hellgate thing which is supposedly like diablo

(also I played like 20 minutes of diablo, and it was the PSX port, and I remember nothing of it for the most part)

Bioware is also making a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the Nintendo DS. Given Bioware's history, this actually seems like it will be good, or at least not bad.

Oh, well, the Infinity Engine thing I'm working on will hopefully turn out well. Yeah, I heard they were doing an RPG besides Sonic. Any news on it?

Oh, get off your high horse, Sharp. Sonic the Hedgehog is a good game series and having a game that isn't done by Sonic Team should do nothing but help the game and franchise continue on, hopefully giving it a boost of life as well. Bioware's done nothing but good games, and while Mass Effect looks amazing... a Sonic RPG for the DS sounds like fun.

Sadly I have no news to report in here about fallout 3. Maybe they just went on news blackout about it for a while.

...And I hope NMA didn't cause that (NMA = No mutants allowed. It's a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE forum full of retarded as all get out fans. Like...the passive jabs I've made at the 'save big o its viable for a third season' crowd? They're all saints compared to these people. As a fallout fan, I'm embarrased to be even vaguely associated with them. If they all died in their sleep mankind would benefit)

The second I do though, you'll know. I just wish I had some to put in this thread!

edit: And I adore to probably an insane extent fallout 1 and 2, these guys weird even me out. So yeah, I'm what I'd consider a 'true fan'.

My apologies, I went off on a rant, and I know you all don't like that freeform posting stuff..its justified though..but...

Just to make this post relevant. NWN2 apparently has a quality persistent server going up, the way NWN1 had...I'll maybe go dig up some more info about this to actually be effective to this thread.

In the megaman zero series, zero saves a 'chick' called Ceil, so if you ever play the game sharp, your gonna be thinking a little differently (or imagine some lesbian action going on  :o).

Also when zero attacks something/someone his voice sounds male.

I find Halo to be very mediocre, especially the singleplayer.

And I've never actually played any of the MM Zero games, except the first one. The story...yeah they really have just been pulling it out of their asses for the past 20 years.

Halo is..okay.

I didn't like the halo 2 multiplayer, cause the sword was like apparently the ultimate weapon...melee weapons in FPS games are only supposed to be really good if you're good using them. It's one thing if you can sneak up or something on someone in half-life/doom and hit them enough with the fist or crowbar. The sword in halo 2 just seemed like a one hit deal.

Title: The City of Amnesia Video Game News Thread
Post by: Mike on August 09, 2007, 08:09:51 AM
Yeah, it really is a one hit kill. Whoever holds the sword longest is usually who wins, which is super-lame. Plus my friend always goes straight for the damn rocket launcher. He's not actually better than anyone else, he just has a constant supply of rockets because he's cheap.

I kill with Needlers and Pistols. And I usually never go for the sword, instead preferring to melee people with the Battle Rifle.

I also hate the damn pistol in Halo 1. Mostly because it's absurd that it kills you faster than anything else except for the rocket launcher, and because I suck ass with it.

My favorite combination is 2 SMG's or a battle rifle and a shotgun.

I love how you actually admit one of your reasons being that you suck with it. The SMG is a fun weapon, but so fucking inaccurate. Give me a Covenant Carbine any day of the week. That has to be the best mid-range weapon in the game.

Seems like our good friends at Konami and Team Silent just aren't in the mood to develop Silent Hill anymore. Seems like SH 5 is being made by The Collective Inc., they made Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Conetents under Pressure, ouch.

Also seems like RE:5 has been pushed back until 09, for reasons unknown. Nice to see Chris back as a main character.

Edit: Regarding FO3. Not sure if you have heard this or not sharp but the general battle system is much like that of Oblivion, however you can use Action Points to go into a semi-turn based mode, for targeted shots and what not. Also the enemies don't level up with you, they remain static, so you can be lvl 1 and run into high lvl enemies if you venture into the wrong area.

I've heard this before, it was retarded then and its retarded now. It's made by the Japanese. They're racist to everyone. The 'terrifying message' of Resident Evil 5 kind of breaks down after you realize this fact.

There might be something to that Zombies=HIV parallel though, but considering what I know about the Resident Evil series, subtext and metaphors aren't exactly it's cup of tea. So I doubt it.

Considering how much fun previous UT's were, I would love to get my hands on the new one. However, after hearing the opinion of a fellow gamer, I'm really interested in getting the "Orange Box" first. After that, though, the new UT would be great.

The previous UT's deathmatches with vehicles were awesome. Unfortunately, I only played it at a small LAN party, but it was still fun.

Not really. To beat the game isn't actually that hard. CONQUERING the game, getting every star, that's a lot harder. I got all 120 in Mario 64 once...that took like a year. The ones you get for finding 100 coins per level were the hardest ones. I'm pretty sure some levels only had 100 or 102 coins all together.

If you want a REALLY hard game, go play Battletoads. I'm convinced that game is humanly impossible.

Only for the English ADR. Still, should mean better voice work than the average Japanese video game.

True, although if Devil May Cry 4 is an indication, RE5 is down by Animaze. Survival Horror games VAing has come a long way since Deep Fear (which made the original RE look Emmy worth) on the Saturn.

Here's some newer screens from RE5

Activision confirmed that the company will release Guitar Hero: Metallica in Q1 2009 for multi-platform. yes ANOTHER Guitar Hero: *insert band name here*

Infinity Ward announced the shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare have sold 10 million copies worldwide since its release in November 2007.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3, Konami): 10, 10, 10, 10 - (40/40). Seems Famitsu gave MSG4 a perfect score.

Even across all platforms, that's still a pretty damn impressive number.

But does the world really need another Guitar Hero game? The franchise is getting out of control.

I'll say, Activision has about 3-4 over *insert name* Hero titles. Drum, Band, heck you name it, they'll probably make it.

Tenchu 4-6 are Wii exclusives.
