Title: Goin' off the Grid Post by: R. Daniel 01 on September 02, 2010, 05:02:14 PM For about a week or two. My over-long Stanley Steemer complaints will go on hold. I'm going to focus on some artwork, some personal projects, and I'm starting today! It's been like a month since I finished that last gif and that's far too long.
Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Brooklyn Luckfield on September 02, 2010, 05:35:41 PM Best of luck R.Dan.
Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Randolf on September 02, 2010, 08:06:04 PM Best wishes, Dan. Take all the time you need. We'll all be here when you get back... that's just about for sure.
I'll try to keep things enlivened in the meantime. Good luck. Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Yuko-san on September 03, 2010, 07:59:48 PM wow. does this mean your job hunting?
I'm working on translating the Caramelladansen for you. But some of the kanji is taking a while. Plus I ran into a katakana word that I can't find in a single Japanese dictionary, reference book or anywhere else for that matter. What in the world is a kurianato? Is that some mis-translation of Angel? I know Kurai is darkness, but it isn't kurai ano to, which would be "darkness um huh" for literal translation. Anyone here know what that word means? Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Sharpshooter005 on September 04, 2010, 03:29:53 PM For all my carping about the internet, I was without it for like a week waiting for my laptop to arrive/get driven down to college and it pretty much sucked
(Primarily cause if I even wanted to check my damn email, I had to walk all the way down to the building with the computers) Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Tifaria on September 11, 2010, 09:17:57 AM Adios, R. Daniel! Looking forward to seeing what you work on, if you decide to share with us. :)
Hope you don't mind me using your thread to say that I will also be gone for about nine days. I know I'm not around regularly anyway, but I try. I'm leaving tomorrow to go to a conference in South Dakota, which I'm ridiculously excited about! But we're driving, so it's four days of driving and five days of conference... eek. I may hate my friends by the time we get back. Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: R. Daniel 01 on September 21, 2010, 09:19:27 PM Hey y'all. Just checking in. Looks like the two weeks I predicted will include one additional week. Almost done with a benchmark in my project. And of course I'll share it, Tifaria. I can't imagine working so long on something without sharing it!
Oh yeah, I thought of many things to talk about. But for now I'm keeping my posts to this. I have lurked a little. Conference, Tifaria? Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Tifaria on September 21, 2010, 09:30:18 PM Hey y'all. Just checking in. Looks like the two weeks I predicted will include one additional week. But for now I'm keeping my posts to this. I have lurked a little. Conference, Tifaria? Sweet, I'm curious to see this mysterious project! I went to a museum conference in South Dakota! I'm studying museum science in grad school right now, so it was totally applicable. Plus, I got excused from a week of class if I went. I don't even have to make up any work. 6 of the 11 students in my class went, plus most of the faculty. I met some awesome people, got to see some cool sites, and... didn't necessarily learn just a whole lot, but it was still fun. Turns out museum people really like to party late at night. I guess maybe it's because so many of their jobs are really boring, they have to unwind somehow! Alas, upon my returning home, my grandmother went into the hospital. She's got the scary medical C-word, but her doctors think they caught it early. She goes in for surgery Thursday, and my family and I are trying to be optimistic about it. I probably won't be around much so that I can spend time at the hospital with her and help my family out after her operation. If y'all don't mind thinking a little happy thought for her, it'd be much appreciated. She's the only grandmother I have, and we're very close, so I'm pretty freaked out right now. Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: Randolf on September 21, 2010, 10:23:22 PM Good luck, R. Dan. Take all the time you need, and may you dazzle us with your fine art and sophisticated levity upon your official return.
To Tifaria, my sincere condolences. I've experienced essentially your exact same situation myself in the past, and I sympathize. I hope everything turns out okay. Title: Re: Goin' off the Grid Post by: R. Daniel 01 on November 08, 2010, 04:38:21 PM @ Randolf: Thanks.
@ Tifaria: How is she doing? And I can just imagine people running down huge empty museum corridors with party hats, setting up bowling pins and water slides. |
