I mean, really. I've been watching Trinity Blood on here for days now. Maybe the guilt and humility of being able to actually watch such feelgood stuff for free is getting to me, but I'm getting paranoid. I know they get a lot of their stuff from other sites (in this case FUNimation, which I hear is clean).

I also keep hearing about free, legal music downloads. From some non-Hulu place. Another thing I don't believe in.

So, am I being fooled, or is Hulu straight up? And should I have known that already?

Hulu pays the companies that produce the TV shows to let them use episodes on their site. Then advert companies pay Hulu to put ad's in the vid's at regular intravels. So hulu is legit.
As for free legal music downloads I'd try beemp3.com. everything on the site is free, but I'm not 100% sure if it's legal. And sometimes you get Chinese versions of the song you want.

That speaks sodding volumes.

Hulu is totally legit. I think it was founded by real deal TV networks, and they had commercials during the Super Bowl even.

There's rumors it might become a subscription service though, super lame.

"Screw the rumors, I have money!"

Anyway, if Hulu goes subscribers only, if it's reasonably priced (not more than their usual pay service for $9.99) I can manage. Honestly, I feel a bit guilty enjoying such a service for free.

Oh, well. I'll enjoy the freeness while I can.

I'd be surprised if it went pay-only. A more likely scenario may be that subscribers could access videos some period of time before viewing for free, ala crunchyroll.

I was watching Trinity Blood on Hulu. I had loaded Episode 12: The Ibelis II, Betrayal Blaze. For some reason, while the theme song was the same, some of the Japanese lyrics had changed and the subtitles offered a completely different translation. This only lasted through the first eight measures, but it was extremely weird.

I don't recall how it went before exactly, but the new translation went:
"I listen to a boring song while I stare out the window/let me put on a dress and dance for you
am I insane tell me/(something)"

Which was very damn bizarre.

Did Hulu screw up, or did Gonzo just change the song at that point for no reason? Or was it a gag I ought to have seen coming?

May have been a source change. Watch Bleach on there. They pull from two sources and bounce between the two.

Yeah, it's definitely legit. I think it's NBC-related. NBC's site may even link to it.


Yeah, I could see many paying to get first looks at videos. However, I could also see this work the other way around, where videos are free at first, but become pay after a while. In fact, I've seen a payment system that billed for older material.

Yeah, "legit" as in...it's not loaded with spyware or anything to my knowledge. It's essentially...I think nbc and at least one of the other networks way of trying to recoup losses caused by people downloading (basically "People are gonna go online for the shows anyway, may as well try to get some ad revenue from it")

As for it becoming a pay service, I've been hearing rumors about that for a while but nothings come of it. From my understanding, IF they ever end up doing it, what'll happen is part of their catalog will become subscription, and free users will still be able to watch the most recent episode/couple of episodes of a show still.
