It's pretty clear that ratings were indeed a factor. I'm sure the lack of focus for the block didn't help either. Maybe the team in charge just felt like Toonami had fulfilled it's original goal, with anime being so popular these days. Would have been awesome to see Moltar try to take back control from Tom and his cronies, though.

Naruto's filler hell will probably continue on the unnamed Friday action block.

Hell Block is an appropriate term

Also yeah, ideally, in my dream world, Moltar would've shown up, Tom would've regressed into fatTom and he would've hopped up into his chair and flow off into another galaxy to spread love and action cartoons ;_;

yeah, inever got why they gave tom such an ugly make-over, then handed his job to an assistan droid thingy... hmmm, video game reviews.... i remember those...
I actually like code lyoko, even though you had to be really smart to understand why they didn't start at the begining like normal people...

Yeah, I have a feeling that was the biggest factor, but like you also said, Naruto was in filler hell, so I'm pretty sure that only made things worse.

There's no denying that one of the biggest reasons, if not the biggest reason anime got big over in the states and elsewhere was Toonami or similar programs. However Toonami had been going down him since 03 and when Sean Atkins left, that was the final nail in the coffin. I'm hoping Anime will take off again, cause it's fallen by the way side these days for the most part.

While I am a total anime advocat, the stuff they've been producing lately is mostly fanservs, a whole lot of factory tailord crap that uses what's sold in the past. I'm waiting for the "next big thing"... ack, no, how about the "next GOOD thing"?

I'm totally with you on that. Gundam 00 and Macross Frontier are pretty awesome, and are definitely diamonds in the rough.

There's still [adult swim]. SciFi airs anime every Monday night after their wrestling show. IFC has premiers every week, plus a repeat earlier the next week (I think). And Starz will occasionally show something, but they don't really have a set schedule.

Maybe he meant DVDs/fansubs?

Wow, Toonami. I remember my dad and I used to watch it together! I started watching it in 4th grade with my friend Robin. We watched Big O, Gundam Wing and Tenchi and my dad always came home and watched it with me. It brings back really good memories! It was practically my life back then! It's gotten really crappy over the years though, sadly. I'm more sad to have seen the old Toonami I watched go than seeing Toonami in general going. It was good while it lasted.

IFC has premiers every week, plus a repeat earlier the next week (I think).
I was surprised to see Speed Grapher on IFC! I watch IFC because, obviously, I love indie movies and fashion documentaries. I was really glad to see it on there though! I watched all of the subbed version last summer and it was interesting to see the dub. I wasn't impressed with it though.

I actually watched Toonami even after it got all silly looking. Sure they were pretty loaded down with "what's hot" shows like Naruto and One Piece, but they always whored out. That's nothing new.

Also, they had some stuff there that wasn't just to please the masses. Like Bobobo for example (By the way, I saw Bobobo on TLC the other day O_O... learning my ass). The last show they actually showed was Samurai Jack. I know this because I was watching it and totally not expecting Tom to be like "Well, it was a good 11 years" and fly into space.

Anyway, anime fans in general are the ones making sure things like Toonami, Adult Swim's anime block, and SciFi's Animondays fail. They're so elitist. They'll critisize anything that becomes mainstream until it stops being popular, even if they were obsessed a few months ago when it was still "Underground." Not to mention that they download everything and watch it all before the show even gets lisenced in America. There can never be another fun anime craze because so many anime fans just suck the fun out of everything for the people who are new to it. If I like something, I have no doubt a douchebag will ruin it by explaining how corrupted the American dub is or how it's just a mainsteam knockoff of a better series.

But no, really, if it isn't toonami anymore, is it just regualr CN all saturday evening?

Dang Wazpy, remain incognito for months and just come let it out... I like it!
Of course, my going incognito might be welcome...
But still, I hate how every thing you typed is absolutely true.

Hey, where's a good site to watch anime, anyway?
