Big Fau is a double reference.

It is a reference to God and to numerals simultaneously.

The Tetragrammaton has four letters... YHWH, Yodh He Waw He.

Notice that the third letter is Waw.

Waw basically has a corollary in Greek... the digamma, shaped like an F, known as...

Ϝαυ.

The digamma means 'double gamma', or 2 times 3 = 6. The digamma was also an archaic letter, meaning that the Greeks eventually discarded it.

Hence, Big Fau means "Big Double of Three". The throwback to Waw, a letter in God's name, could be a reference to Alex Rosewater's God complex,

Have fun.

Hey Garma, do you read me? Blame this on the misfortune of your birth...nothing personal.

A bit of a stretch, but it makes sense in the context of the show.

It's probably one or the other regarding the references. It could be both, though it's admittedly unlikely.

At least in either case Fau has something to do with the number three. The 'third letter of the Tetragrammaton' thing relates to Rosewater in addition to the number three.

Also, hello. I pretty much just came to post that.

It could be both in a way, even if it wasn't intentional.

It has been my experience just about every creative work you can come up with has connections somewhere, even if you aren't consciously making them.

When you have what seems to be a truly random or new idea, then usually that just means that whatever inspirations or connections took place to create the idea were just so complex, obscure, and buried in your subconscious that you can't trace them back effectively.
