ITT: Those on the east coast look out of their windows and reflect on the fact its whiter than a lifetime supply of wonder bread.

Well god damn. I had heard we were supposed to get some snowfall this weekend, but I didn't expect it to look like ragnarok outside

A couple of days ago I was saying it "didn't quite seem like the christmas season/full winter". Welp.

The supermarkets the night before the blizzard were also crazy. I was just buying a bago cookies and some hot chocolate, but there were families pushing whole shopping carts full of instant pizza.

LET'S GO WHITE CHRISTMAS!

I'm really glad I drove back home Friday, and that the snow didn't start any earlier.

More shoveling tomorrow.  =(

Nuclear Blizzard '10: Don't bother waving the white flag, it'll just blend in

Highway shutdown count in PA currently at 3. Adams (my) county has now shut off all use of the roads for non-emergency vehicles.

Someone in NYC was telling me his college was closed, and apparently since Bloomberg bought took office closings of that sort just don't occur. Apparently this is a rarity.

Oh but wait! There's more! Apparently there's more snow due on Sunday!

Two full weeks of goddamn snow!

50 car pileup outside Williamsburg

Maryland National Guard is now doing stuff (I forget if its full mobilization or what. They're definately active though according to their twitter. Yes, they have a twitter, which is bizarre to me)

I thought they said monday.

What amount, exactly. Like, another full on "Mother Nature has put out a hit, the weather is going to the mattresses" deal or just..yeah, sane, rational snow.

I was watching the Today show this morning, and it just blew me away. They were talking like it had never snowed before, ever.

Everyone is running to Home Depot and getting shovels, the store is all "we ran out of shovels OMIGOD"
...but it snowed like a month ago. And it reliably snows at least once a year. How the hell are there people who don't have a snow shovel?

They were telling you how to not die when snow falls out of the sky, too. Like, drive slowly and carefully. This really applies mostly to anyone with an AWD car or an SUV. Those drivers tend to go OH ITS OK I HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE VROOOOOOM and swiftly skid into a telephone pole.

...honestly, in NYC, I would go with "rational snow" so far.
