Make the appeal more universal but still attractive to hardcore nerds.
Spectacle of cosplay (not cosplay for its own sake), delights in art, creativity and imagination on
display. Talk up the special guests, whether it be skilled artists or some J-pop singer.
“Come escape for a day of games and fantasy, light-hearted or serious,” or something like that. Show beautiful people and nerdy people
both, coexisting without shame, doing various things (even dancing! (NO DDR)). Actual footage from the con would help familiarize potential first-timers.
Say it is
International in inspiration, not just Japanese or Asian generally. Emphasize the importance of imagination and of exploring new ideas (the cardinal attraction of anime, after all).
