A realistic alternative to a third season.

I am one of the minority here that thinks a third season (while I would certainly wach one if it were produced) is unnecessary because the show is complete initself at 26 episodes.

However, I would be interested in reading an essay by Hajime Yatate concerning a statement of the philsophical ideas he expressed in the show, and perhaps discussing the idea for the thrid season he once mentioned having.

Perhaps Japanese speaking members of this forum could write letters to the editors of approriate journals or websites soliciting such a publication. Or perhaps to Yatate himself.

While I doubt a third season will ever be produced, this much more limited goal ought to be obtainable.

Now this is something that I would happily stand behind. Any insight from Yatate would be precious. Even a nice big general retrospective would be nice, though damn, I'd love to hear his commentary on every little detail, if possible.

Too low if you ask me. I'd rather have a movie or OVA. But Hajime Yatate didn't create the Big O.

Actually, the writer was Chiaki J. Konaka, and his website is here: http://www.konaka.com.

According to one Season 3-supporting website, Mr. Konaka said he had ideas for the 3rd season. That was the only reason I supported the 3rd season effort: to let the rest of the story be told.

However, you two might be right in that a book or essay may take the place of more episodes. However, I do think the work should be about the 3rd season ideas that were never fleshed out.

Still stands, however. Sure, we won't get to have the actual content spoonfed to us, but I think just knowing what might've been in store would be worthwhile.

Yeah, Yatate isn't an actual person.

It seemed like they had a TON of stuff they wanted to use, but they ran out of time for it. Behemoth was in the show for like 2 seconds and was a huge WTF moment, a fight with that thing would have been really cool.

Hajime Yatate is a pen name used when a Sunrise show is created by a bunch of writers/producers.

And you should really edit your posts instead of posting a bunch of times in a row.

Actually, one thought I'd had was-- if we could ever put together such a thing-- to commission Konaka for the third season script. That way, even without the animation and the music and all those other lovely things, we'd at least have the whole story.

Don't know what it would cost to do this, but it would certainly be more affordable than producing an entire season.

Well, I know he just had a major release theatrical film come out on American DVD. I would guess the minimum up front money for that would be  quarter of a million (dooalrs, not yen). He was also the head writer on Digimon, which I guess, was like a liscence to print money. So unless Bill Gates is a member here, I would suppose its a moot point.
