After I watched all the Satoshi Kon anime I could find, I decided to see what else was made by Madhouse, the animation company that has produced his stuff. (In addition, my son turned me on to Cardcaptor Sakura, which was done by the same group.)  I found this Master Keaton series, and bought a few of the Pioneer disks.

I must say that the episodes are pretty low-key. They certainly would be boring to anyone wanting traditional action or fan service. And yet, there is something I am coming to enjoy about the show. Maybe it's because of the background art, which is as good any anything I've seen from Studio Ghibli. Maybe it's just that I like watching Taichi Keaton at work.

In any event, I like this series. You might too.

Master Keaton was indeed a nice show, even had a pretty good Ocean dub as well. Good stuff.

"Master Keaton" is based on a manga by Naoki Urasawa, isn't it? Even if it isn't, the art is incredibly similar to "Monster," based on what I've seen.

Certainly looks like an interesting show, but with likely limited availability and all that other anime & manga, I doubt I'll get around to watching it anytime soon.

You guys are a riot.  Cheesy

Take a look at this review: http://www.ex.org/3.7/17-anime_masterkeaton.html

This website has more information on the manga and Naoka Urasawa, its writer (good catch, EyeOfPain!): http://myhome.naver.com/fischer/Urasawa/Master_KeatonE.htm
