I think Missing Ling was supposed to be Missing Link, and yeah the anime you described does sound like Tekkaman.

I saw missing ling/k on you tube once, if you've seen the whole of the original tekkaman then you're in for a real surprise when you see missing ling/k, Aki goes nuts especially when she tells D-boy to....well you'll see. It only goes for a few minutes though, i fish they would release the full version of it.

I think it's called missing link becuase it is a bit of an insight to what happened between tekkaman 1 and Tekkaman 2. T2 is alright but doesn't really live up to the original.
