I've said it before and I'll say it again, McCain screwed up big time choosing Palin, although I avoid the Huffington Post and Failykos. What they said about Tony Snow when he died was sickening, good ol' libtards.

Holy crap, I knew Palin was an idiot, but WOW.
I also heard that McCain really, really wanted Lieberman but his campaign managers said "no, he's pro-choice, it'll piss off the base" so they went with crazy Jesus freak base lady who pissed off the 90% of the country who isn't "the base".

Liberman would have been an damn good choice, or Romany would have been decent as well.

I still wish I knew why McCain choose Palin. He would have had a better chance if he picked anyone but Palin, also I hear she might be running in 2012.

If I may be so bold, my reading of it was always that the McCain camp was hamfistedly attempting to court disenchanted Hillary Clinton supporters after Obama won the nomination for the Democratic Party. I really, honestly suspect that the McCain campaign genuinely believed that female voters in particular would vote for any ol' dame that was shoved into the limelight, regardless of her politics or her overall competence. (What's really distressing is that among some women, this appears to have been true.) Any woman would do! Any woman at all! Condescending? Yep. Cynical? Yep. Miserable failure? Oh, yes.

There were some people who, for a day or so, did switch to the McCain/Palin camp.

Then they found out a few of her views.

Maybe McCain picked her because he wanted to throw the election and allow the world to like America again. People in other countries are pretty happy about it. I'm in Brazil right now, by the way.

Oh, neat. So you'd say the climate's quite positive over there? I'm really interested in how the people of other countries feel about this; it seems like it was really big news worldwide.

Oh yeah. There are Newsweek and NY Times articles that cite various European notables, saying things like, "He is our President, too." Plus pictures, lots and lots of pictures, of people celebrating around the world. It's pretty darn amazing.

Well, Brazil isn't going nuts like I hear lots of other places are, but they still are pretty positive about it. My sister is French so I can get news from there too. Pretty much everyone wanted us to get rid of the Republicans, who have very much been "Let's do what we want and ignore any opinions from the rest of the world" for the past 8 years. As far as I can tell all of the civilized countries are more liberal than we are and I think the people in poor countries are just happy to see the most powerful guy in the world not being white again.

I love the people who are afraid that having a liberal in office will destroy freedom of speech and ruin the country. Because liberal countries like Norway are totalitarian hellholes. Roll Eyes

Well I'm not afraid of a Liberal being in the white house. I'm an Independent, but I'm gonna give Obama a chance and see what he can bring to the tabel for this country, cause god knows we need it. So, best of luck Obama.

What's even better are people claiming they'll move to Canada to escape Obama's new healthcare and other parts of his "socialist" agenda.

I've heard this stuff as well Hobo and it's a shame, I think people should at least give him chance and what makes this even funnier is, he's not in office yet lol.

No no no.

It's funny because Canada is far more liberal than the US is, and has had National Healthcare and all that for quite some time.  Their conservative party is more liberal than our Democratic Party.
