Anyway, at least it's not some White chick playing Saiya.

It will end up being the usual Hollywood casting of "all Asians are the same".

As for the Avatar trailer, I have to say, I wasn't impressed at all, and given the fact it's directed by M. Night I sense a plot twist ending.

What a twist!
"Come on baby! Let's do the twist!"

Its official now... I'd rather 69 a grizzly bear while shoving King Kong up my ass than to see another Hollywood abomination!

oh lawdy. A live action Akira. Speaking of Leo, I hear he's poised to Tony Little speed rape a few other anime's if I'm not mistaken.

Time to set the Hollywood Sewers on fire and watch the fireworks from the Sky. I'll get the Short Bus for the trip...

lol yeah, I've heard that Leo (or another big Hollywood star) would be interested in doing an Eureka 7 movie, well among others.

However, the film is primarily going to be adapted from anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo's graphic novel more than the original 1988 anime movie
Well at least they're not going to ruin the reputation of the Akira anime movie. Just the reputation of the manga.

It seems like the director of the live action Akira film, Ruairi Robinson, has jumped ship claiming the film is "Dead as a Doornail". Praise Jesus!

I liked the manga. It went into more depth.

At any rate, I heard the rumor about a year or so ago that Leo would be playing in an Akira movie.

Problem with Hollywood making live action anime: Too many white people, especially where white people don't go.

I should probably weigh in on these:

  • Cowboy Bebop - Maybe? It could be fun... Hmmm, need a slim but beautiful Faye. Kirsten Dunst or Tea Leoni? Rather than Angelina, perhaps consider someone in the same vein, such as Megan Fox?
  • Blood - Didn't look too bad. Saya was Japanese, and all the actors seemed to fit the characters (although this may be one of those trailers with all the good scenes... Grin).
  • DB live-action - trailer looked OK, even though I know it's barely faithful to the anime.
  • Akira - Y'know I really should lookup the manga, because the anime was confusing as hell, even after combing Wikipedia and the 'net for more information on the story. I'm not sure if I want to further confuse myself with a more-condensed live-action movie version. Huh
  • Avatar by M. Night Shamalan - only if M. Night is on his game with this...
  • "The Green Hornet" - ?
  • "The A-Team" - It will be one of those action series turned parody/action movie. Meh, I'll pass until
    it hit's $1 theater/DVD.
  • "Robin Hood" - Despite Kevin Costner's total disregard of British pronounciation, I liked that version of the story. Is this going to be a "more serious" retelling? That could go either way with me...
  • "Sherlock Holmes" - With Indiana Jones/Mummy movies getting long in the tooth, this may be something to take it's place. Will keep an eye on this...
  • "Shrek: Forever After" - This will be a tough sell with me, as 3 barely, barely passed with me...
  • "Alice in Wonderland"- Johnny, why must you make nightmare fuel of my childhood stories?!?  Sad I don't know, I still haven't checked out his version of Willy Wonka...
  • ...and yet another Toy Story - Another movie about toys, and as I type this, I have 7 Autobots and 1 Decepticon figures sitting close to me. Yeah, it's getting long in the tooth, but I'm still intrigued...
  • And I already broke the story about the live-action Battle Angel Alita - via James Cameron - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437086/ - this however looks "win". Cool

You have no idea how wrong you are. DragonBall: Evolution sucked... horribly. I'm actually sorry that I saw it at all (on the internet, it was a waste of bandwidth).

Not only was the plot horrendous compared to actual canon, but as a movie alone it sucked. Stay away from it.

They better get somebody to "fit" the part of Mai Shiranui what with her trademark chest. Now if you'll excuse me.... my mind has just wandered into it's naughty place.

Is that really Mai? If so, they're going to need CGI boobs. She's got nothing and the boobs are basically what makes Mai. Dumbest casting since that Black Eyed Peas guy played Vega in the Street Fighter movie.

Indeed Wazpy. Here's the cast:

Sean Faris - Kyo Kusunagi
Maggie Q - Mai Shiranui
Will Yun Lee - Iori Yagami
Ray Park - Rugal Bernstein
Francosie Yip - Chizuru kagura
Hiro Kanagawa - Saisyu Kusunagi
Favid Leitch - Terry Bogard
Sam Hargrave - Ryo Sakazaki
Monique Ganderton - Mature
Bernice Liu - Vice

For some extra lulz, click on the Rugal Bernstein article to get a sneak peek at his movie appearance.  Protip: It's made of Fail and AIDS.
