Watching this clip gives me added courage in real-life affairs. Just saying.

I've seen some good looking clips besides this one. Hard sci-fi. Clumsy execution of some of its themes, but I can tell it has a mature intent. Plus, the battles make sense.

So Graham, you probably know a fair bit more about Votoms than I do. I've purposefully read as little about it as possible, to not spoil anything. Unfortunately, I can't find any episodes of the original series on YouBoob, and there ain't no torrents of it. Do you know of an inexpensive paysite, perhaps, that has it, or of a place where I might buy an inexpensive copy of the DVDs? Or if you have some DVDs, could you maybe... mail them to me, if you're not too far away? I'd cover the shipping.

I wish I owned the DVD's R.Dan, but sadly I don't. I remember Central Park Media released all 52 episodes on an 8 DVD set, but that has been out of production for years. Amazon does have a set I have never seen before. It has the whole series for 80 bucks.

80 bucks. That's 1 episode for a dollar and change. Good deal. Don't have that much disposable income at the moment, though. Just used most of it.

Then how did you watch it? I remember you called it "electric sex."

I watched a few episodes, I think the first 5, but damn if it wasn't awesome. I think they only dubbed one episode, which was an extra on the first DVD, but it sadly feel into the usual area of most New York dubs, bad. I'd love to buy the set as well, but I just pre-ordered White Knight Story for PS3. Been waiting for that JRPG for well over a year.

It looks like that box set has been discontinued, since Central Park tanked (if I recall). However, Manga Entertainment sells each of the four, er, acts or chapters separately, for $15 apiece. Much better deal if ya ask me.

It confuses me how Manga fits ~15 episodes on one disk, while everyone else seems to fit 8 at most. I wonder if multiple language tracks have something to do with this. Or could it be, various studios stretch the encoding over extra disks for extra profit?

There sure is a lot of Votoms media. This bears further investigation. I doubt that it's worth buying all of it.

Indeed R.Dan. Votoms is still very popular in Japan and it's a shame that only the T.V series has been released over here. Those little Votoms figures look pretty sexy, I'll look into those.

Yeah, CPM tanked, so that set with the metal collectors case is very rare. I didn't know manga had a set out.

As for the episode count. Yeah, the general thing is to milk as much cash out of it as you can. Bandai does this with the 6 episode show they have by putting 2 episodes on 1 disc, while scant extras.
