I dunno, everybody seems jumping around as if this is some great surprise. Which it isn't. Least, not to me. Bridges here in the US are poorly inspected and poorly maintained. Just not enough money going into maintaining them, really. Maybe this'll be a turnaround point.

About 10 years ago they were making a big deal about chunks of concrete falling off the Manhattan Bridge. Then they found out that every time a subway train went over it, the bridge bent like 5 feet. So it was closed for like 5 years while they made it not fall down.

I heard the tappan zee is in pretty awful condition in terms of inspection standards.

Look at least one of these casualties is CLEARLY a zombie. Unless the debris hit them in the head they're not staying down, you need to go for the head.

auh i just wanted to clear things up. i watched abc at like 11 yesterday and only 4 died and 12 r missing. i saw a video from a dash cam of the bridge collapseing. it's the kinda stuff you see in godzilla and other monster movies.

Yes, this kind of tragedy isn't very common. At least the bus full of people was safely evacuated as I understand it. Truly, something needs to be done to prevent something like this from occurring in the future.
