You're welcome!

Consider it a seven-minute teaser trailer. The quality is off the charts.

Allow me to give a Youtube link to the same video so people don't have to wait forever for the thing to load.

You shouldn't have that problem with the Youtube link, but okay.

It's the dawn of the Universal Century calendar with 20 minutes remaining until it goes into effect and the prime minister of the Earth Federation is giving a speech about it at a Stanford Torus type space colony.
However, a group of terrorists mess with the upper mirror so that instead of a gentle bathing of sunlight, it focuses the light like a magnifying glass and burns a gaping hole in the colony which destroys it. The terrorists are them selves blown up when their escape shuttle explodes with a single survivor, a young man who floats past a marker of sorts that is drifting among the wreckage. (And bears a striking resemblance to the protagonist of the OVA.)
Cut to early April, UC 0096 where that same man is now very old and talks with his son about what they are about to do and how it could create chaos on a level never before known if they screw up, but that they must in order to correct the problems with the Earth Sphere in the Universal Century. The old man notes that a certain kind of people are emerging (newtypes) that could be entrusted with Laplace's box (the marker he found in space) The old man asks his son if he could possibly forgive him, and the son replies that if no one else would, he can.

(Cue title card and scene change)

The space freighter Garencieres is under attack by a Federation Clop class warship and a young girl in one of the cabins prepares herself for it. The Clop launches mobile suits and the Zeon ship responds by launching the mobile suit Kshatriya to intercept. The combat that follows must be seen for yourself as I can't do it justice with words although it does cut off in mid-scene which is a strong incentive for one to buy the product I suppose. (Or hunt down the fansub and see it that way.)

Sexy! I know I'm gonna pick up a Blu Ray of this when it comes out. Also Rachael Lillis? Awesome. Seems to be a good mix of voice actors, then again it's recorded at NYAV's L.A studio.

Holy crap, that was BAD ASS.

Gundam has been a series of letdowns starting with SEED. From everything I've heard, this is the redemption of the franchise.

Pretty sure they will release DVD version as well.

Also ditto on better new Gundam shows. Gundam 00 goes to shit after about 20 episodes.

Wow, in that case, I'm glad I never got past the 4th episode or so.

Indeed. The second season is even worse Mike. If I had to describe it in as few words as I can... Gundam SEED comes to mind. Actually, Gundam 00 as a whole gives me a Gundam SEED vibe.

SEED started out as a hollow imitation of the original series, and then the plot went nowhere, so I gave up after a like 4 episodes. The mecha designs were pretty cool, though. I had the 1/60 Strike Gundam with all three special packs.

I like that they're going back to UC. Now if only they would re-animate the three movies made out of the original series.

I have the digitally remastered versions of the original Gundam movies. I haven't had the chance to watch them yet.
Does Ecol du Ceile count as a spin off? It apparently takes place after the original Gundam by a few years.

Pretty sure they will release DVD version as well.

The only DVD I've heard of is Region 2, and since Unicorn is being distributed directly by Bandai Japan, you may be out of luck, Vogler.
