In FFTA the main character's kind of a jerk, his friends use a magic book to escape their lives where two are picked on, one is in a wheelchair, broken families all around, etc, and the plot of the game revolves around you traveling around destroying the world to bring everyone back to reality.

A common theory/idea is that you play the antagonist in the game.
