Back...in black...

« on: February 04, 2011, 12:50:39 PM »

(I guess we have to call it that since we're not allowed to say "Super Bowl"... Oops!  Grin)

Steelers vs. Packers... Pittsburgh vs. Green Bay... Beloved hometown team vs. beloved hometown team... Great football town vs. great football town... The Steelers Nation vs. the Cheeseheads... Steelers fans wave black silk-screened gold-colored "Terrible Towels"; Green Bay fans wear gold-colored foam cheddar wedges on their head... Green Bay is the only team where the town actually owns the team. In 1933, Art Rooney Sr., the original owner of The Steelers, won the rights to a franchise in Pittsburgh in a card game. Ownership of the Steelers then passed to his son Dan Rooney, and recently, some responsibilities have passed to Dan's son Art Rooney II.

Mrs. Negotiator and I will be attending a Super Bowl party this weekend. Being that I am from one of the towns whose team is playing in the Super Bowl, I'm probably expected to chime in on this impending nexus of great football and TV commercials. Personally, I'm glad to see these two competitors in the Super Bowl. They're both worthy opponents, and I wish both of them luck. Of course, I wish my hometeam more luck (Go Steelers... Cool). I also look forward to some really great TV commercials, even though there are now several other major sports events where such commercials will be aired. Although such an event would be a security nightmare, I wish that, after the end of this game, coaches would shake hands, players would shake hands, and fans would shake hands, because I believe this would be an epic ending for what appears to be an epic football game...

(C) "Super Bowl" is a copyright of the NFL. Say it and perish underlings...  Angry

Usually the college I work at has parties all over campus. I'll just go to the one my friends are at.

I just found out the Packers have some system where the ownership is publically traded, and fans can buy shares of it so I hope they win

Also..wait which one from PA has that dog murderer on the team. Oh its the eagles, not the steelers..meh fuck pennsylvania anyway (what, just because I live here I'm supposed to be all "yay pennsylvania" no fuck that)

Oh well... Darn... Yeah, that sucks... Well, congratulations to Green Bay. They just flat out out-played the Steelers (and their Super Bowl had didn't look as dorky...)...

Oh, normally I'd root for Green Bay, if it were any other opponent. They've got a great rapport with their fans... (There few teams where players can feel safe enough jumping in the bleachers when they score TD's). The public ownership is awesome, especially because it includes a clause that they can't move the team. However, there are some people in Pittsburgh that aren't "Steeler's Nation" members, aren't in the "Here we go Steelers, Here we go..." rallies, but are still cool Steeler fans... We spent last night hanging out with some of them... These Steelers fans gave a round of applause to Green Bay for winning it all, despite the hurt they felt inside (...and not indigestion either  Smiley).

They were also the same fans that sharply criticized Christina Aguilera's gaffe, where she skipped 3 lines of the National Anthem. (She is from Wexford, PA, afterall...) I mean, don't singers chosen for the Anthem practice intensely for it, and isn't there also a teleprompter displaying the words (if it's not on the JumboTron for all the fans to sing along, too)?!?  Huh Seriously, what the hell was she doing? I mean, it was funny when Frank Drebin did it in Naked Gun, but seriously, you're not supposed to mess that up...ever...

Yeah, Vick on the Philly Eagles. However, the Steelers have had a few issues in the past, too. (Up until a few years ago, never any incidents with Steelers... It's a shame...). Actually, lots of Pennsylvanians say "the hell with PA!"... Sometimes I say "the hell with PA"! I gave serious thought to leaving when job prospects weren't looking good... I have an uncle and aunt in Atlanta, and with all of Atlanta's businesses, it's better road system, and younger residents, it looked like the place to go. Then I found an adequate job here, and an OK job here, and met Mrs. Negotiator, and...well, decided to stay...for now...

No worries. It's your citizenly duty to yell "Screw you!!!" when necessary...

Pennsylvania has lawl country roads.

HALF-TIME SHOW:
Usher out-classed the Black Eyed Peas within seconds of his act. Though I generally disdain the BEP, I would have at least assumed they could put on a show. But both times I've seen them live on national television, they brought the suck.

This year's Super Bowl fiasco: Aguilera. I can't even watch the video of her fucking up. It's too shameful.
