Picture taken at the BangZoom! Entertainment "anime voice-acting" workshop in New York City. You can see me in the back in green and Tony Oliver, who was our instructor, is giving us some pointers before we head into the recording booth.

So yes, I met the actual voice of Lupin the 3rd... and it was frakking awesome! During said workshop I also got to try my voice in some select scenes... for example, we edited my voice into a scene from Gurren Lagann (as Kamina), and did another scene from Ghost Slayers Ayashi (as Yukiatsu). This was a great experience as a fan and as an aspiring voice actor.

More pictures from the workshop can be found on this guy's blog: Anime Almanac: BangZoom Workshop

Was it harder than you expected?

Well seeing as how I've never dubbed to lipflaps before yes it was difficult. However, I felt very at home during my time in the booth, and although it took me a little while to get into character (maybe a few minutes) when I hit my stride the result was fantastic. This also gives me a major foot-in-the-door for the industry, great resume builder, and of course the joy of having Tony Oliver agree that Steven Blum would probably do it (when asked if he [Blum] would shout "BIG O SHOWTIME!" in his Leeron voice). Of course me being a total Lupin fan there I was on cloud 9 having Tony Oliver be my instructor.

Voice acting is very very tough nut to crack, and it's never a steady paycheck (until you've been in the business for 20 years)... but dammit if I don't want to try harder after that workshop.

That's really cool. When I get out of college and into a studio, perhaps we could help each other out on a thing or two. Or strike that, most likely sooner than graduation.

Sorry for the somewhat crappy quality, I only have a webcam at the moment.

We are Asian and we walk among you! Beware!  Cheesy

More specifically I'm of mostly Chinese descent with a little bit of Filipino mixed in there somewhere.

WHERE DID YOU BUY THOSE?

They are gorgeous. I've always wanted a black pair and a black and white pair, but I could never find any. :(

Got 'em from Zappos.com. Cheesy Steve Maddens, though I can't remember offhand what the actual name of the shoe is. If you're like me, you want to invest in some insoles, too. >>
