Know as being a somewhat controversial person in the U.S anime industry and probably best know for Robotech. I have to say, this is some what shocking as he was only in his 50's. Macek is without a doubt one of the most important and influential people in U.S fandom and his company Streamline Pictures was among the first to dub and show anime on T.V. If you want an interesting interview with Mr.Macek, then check out Anime News Networks AnnCast interview. It's over 2 hours long, but you can tell Macek really did care about Anime and it's success in the states.

Checkin' that out. Shame. Someone will replace him! It's okay, we have companies like Funimation carrying the torch.

I'm probably going to end up developing robotics, but directing an American studio that produces in-house, anime-like productions would be equally sweet. This guy got halfway there.
