Title: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: neoncoyote on April 01, 2008, 04:00:58 PM
I always enjoy these threads, ohoho.

Anyways, I just bought
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=skirts&product%5Fid=2048367528&Page=1#
& http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=skirts&product%5Fid=2047605525&Page=1
because I haven't bought anything for myself since January. ;_;

So, what was the last thing you guys bought? It can be a game, or even food. You know the drill.

Uh...donuts.
I went to see the orthodontists I used to work for and brought them a dozen Dunkin' Donuts.

But the last important thing I bought was an asskicking video card with which to play Crysis.

All you can eat pasta, a coke no ice, and then a waffle-bowl sundae.

Cost me two meal-punches and 2 dining dollars.  Yay fake college money.

It was a busy weekend...

Honey BBQ wings, a Teriaki Steak, and a Yeungling draft at Dave & Busters...and Mrs. Negotiator had a boatload of shrimp and a Strawberry Daiqari (If not for the NHL playoffs, I probably would have gamed a little, too. Too bad...)
"100W equivalent" flourescent bulbs (Now I have more electricity for my rig. Hahahaha!)
a huge bottle of Mobil-1
a 5-shelf bookshelf
toothpaste and dental floss
Trident berry and citris gums
a loaf of bread, milk, eggs, orange juice, and yogurt
a birthday card and "Scrubs" Season 3 for my sister's birthday
for Mrs. Negotiator's Tex-Mex recipe: mild salsa, tortillas, shredded lettuce, and, oh yeah, one tomato! 8)

What?!? No more Jones Soda at Walmart? No side...

Haha, it was a busy weekend for me too!

Went to American Apparel in D.C. Got this cardigan (http://store.americanapparel.net/rsa2405w.html) and this dress (http://store.americanapparel.net/rsag300.html)
A yellow t-shirt from H&M to go along with my high-wasted skirt.
The latest issue of Elle magazine from Barnes&Noble.
Went to Urban Outfitters and got this book (http://www.amazon.com/HOW-WALK-HIGH-HEELS-EVERYTHING/dp/1401302750) and a gold&blue wallet.

Then today I decided since it rains a lot in April, I needed a bubble umbrella (http://www.amazon.com/HOW-WALK-HIGH-HEELS-EVERYTHING/dp/1401302750)! So cute.

Looking at this list it seems like it's so much. I need better money management.

Well this is my haul from Tekkoshocon.

4x Lupin the 3rd DVDs
 - "All's Fair in Love and Theivery"
 - "The Flying Sword"
 - "Royal Scramble"
 - "Enchanted Lupin"

3x soundtracks
 - Neon Genesis Evangelion (1)
 - Trigun the first donuts
 - Trigun the second donut

A LOT of Pocky and Ramune. lol

Interestingly enough, I found a guy selling two Big O boxsets (Season I and Season II) ... upon close inspection, I deemed them bootleg as I've pretty much memorized the DVD releases and they were not at all like anything I've ever seen. ::)

I've done this, going all day on one Chipotle burrito. Sometimes you have to check underneath the bread wrap, just to be sure they didn't actually stuff a baby in there.

I can accept that you were pleased with Chipotle on the grounds you do not live in Atlanta and have thus never eaten at Willy's, which as I understand it was the genesis/inspiration for both Chipotle and Moes, and also vastly superior. 4 out of 5 surveyed agreed unconditionally, and 5 was a jerk.

... Damn, now I want some Willy's.

You all are going to think I'm weird for this but I have never eaten at Chipotle. It's not my fault though, I'm a city girl living in the country(SUCKXZ)... and we don't have many places to eat here. When I lived in the city though, I don't think it existed until a few years after I moved.

Anyways, I just bought the latest issue of Nylon. I'm too girly.

Nope all east, sir... Pity, the chicken wrap was the closest thing to a "sandwich" there. Nothing goes better with full-octane java than biscotti. Just don't chip a tooth...  ;)

You think you can find 15-layer lasagna on the west coast?!? No, I can't see that happening... Subway, OK, but not mountains of lasagna...and I don't even want to know what it would taste like. As for the shirts - well how else am I going to pass for human? Just a little humor - sometimes we negotiators like to dress down a little...

Oh, and I bought a gig stick of RAM.

Alright, now that's what I'm talking about. You installed it as soon as you got home, yes? Gig sticks are nice... I might buy another, in fact, at 1.5G I'll probably have to anyhow...

I turned on my laptop this morning and got the "your battery will still charge, but will probably completely crap out on you in a couple weeks. Go and spend $300 on a new one. Love, Dell."
So I (read: my parents) bought a new laptop battery. I hate Dell now because after reading interweb reviews, my puny little laptop chews up batteries like there's no tomorrow.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: R. Daniel 01 on April 29, 2008, 09:15:32 PM
Coincidence! I just received my new Dell laptop today. I got it to come with XP... not so fast, Vista!

Too bad about the battery. Maybe you had one of the models that was recalled two years ago.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: Hobo on April 29, 2008, 09:37:43 PM
I had something like that happen to me a few months back.

Except without the message, there was just a pop, and then my battery was useless.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: Mike on April 29, 2008, 09:59:50 PM
I checked the model number back in the recall-time, it wasn't one of those exploding ones. I think my laptop was sort of a slightly-shrunken one and they did a crappy job designing the battery.

And why does everyone hate Vista? I love it, I never had any problems with it, Directx 10 makes things super-pretty and the GUI is shiny and easy to use.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: Hobo on April 29, 2008, 10:15:48 PM
Vista would require another gig or so of RAM in my laptop, and probably a gig and a half for my desktop.

If Vista had a 64bit version I might be more interested for my desktop, since I need to buy the RAM anyways, but it plays Oblivion fine, so I'm not really in much of a hurry.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: Mike on April 30, 2008, 07:51:15 AM
It does have a 64 bit version. I decided to not get it because I heard that 64-bit systems in general cause files to take up twice as much space.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: R. Daniel 01 on April 30, 2008, 09:30:45 AM
And why does everyone hate Vista?

A couple little things. I've read that it doesn't run programs any more efficiently than XP. In some cases, like in 3d rendering software, ironically, programs actually run slower. Vista also has a problem with occasionally mixing up files during defrags, a problem which made my gf's computer stuck in a SCNDSK>SafeMode>BSoD loop for two days.

I'm going to wait a year or two until Vista accumulates even more patches, then upgrade.

Title: Re: The "What Was The Last Thing You Bought?" Thread
Post by: Hobo on April 30, 2008, 01:35:30 PM
It does have a 64 bit version.

See, I heard that that thing actually doesn't map out the IO/Memory correctly, thus still preventing you from using all the RAM that you should be able to.

I heard this from my professor who teaches circuitry design, so I'm kinda inclined to believe him.

You a west coasty?
Nope all east, sir... Pity, the chicken wrap was the closest thing to a "sandwich" there. Nothing goes better with full-octane java than biscotti. Just don't chip a tooth...  ;)

You think you can find 15-layer lasagna on the west coast?!? No, I can't see that happening... Subway, OK, but not mountains of lasagna...and I don't even want to know what it would taste like. As for the shirts - well how else am I going to pass for human? Just a little humor - sometimes we negotiators like to dress down a little...

I beg your pardon? I am within WALKING distance of three amazing Italian restaurants. I just don't order the lasagna because yeah, I make it myself.

:o I stand corrected... Pardon me. Apparently, I listen to the complaints of others too much... However, the 15-layer aspect, the West Coast also does the large portion stuff? Huh... I thought there was more smaller portion/gourmet cooking on the west coast. Except for a few people, who I will not name, (and they probably wouldn't care to read my post either), most people would do well making their own "international" dishes. Most dishes can be prepared without "superhuman" effort.

I have a beer now, though, so things are looking up.

Kill them. Kill them now.
War.

It would be a pity to waste a fresh brew. However, after the beer, have at them... 8)

Oh, and for me:
Last weekend:
-Lots of groceries. (Yes, one tomato as well...)
-Motor oil and oil filters.
-Beer, chips, and salsa.

This weekend:
-Baseball tickets and ballpark snacks.

Sorry, this weekend was a little slow...

Mmm, I bought a bottle of Rogue Dark Rum. This has to be the best rum I've had. I still have a half-bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label, so I don't need to get more yet.

Also, yeah, some restaurants make the large serving lasagna and dishes, but they serve them in thin slices and what not. Personally, there are other pasta dishes I enjoy over lasagna, but to each his own.
Make it so.

With my money: A burrito from Chipotle

With my parents' money afterward: Milk, lettuce, tomatoes, bread, eggs, flour, bacon, and peanuts, but not green onions because I couldn't find them.  I then made Kung-Pow chicken, and got chili pepper in my eye.

A few things for Mrs. Negotiator:
- iPod accessories (Come to think of it, long ago, I bought her the iPod, too...)
- "Born in the USA" - one of the biggest CD's from The Boss...
- some girly perfumed stuff...  ;D
- candies, a card, and a chocolate rose

...and for the both of us - 2 "Surf and Turf"s on Valentine's Day.

Hey, I forgot... Back after New Years, I used some "rewards points"/gift card for a cheap price on a cheap laptop (...and the cheap models are really cheap now). I was going to get a cheap netbook, but this is much better... (...and you can't really code on a DS!)  8)

As for me, the last thing I bought was Dairy Queen food. A Flamethrower burger, a basket of chicken strips, a butterfinger blizzard, and a cherry pepsi.

Otherwise I bought a Katana and some hair dye. New stuff to camwhore with. My hair, when in the right light, is blue, but it is such a dark blue that it looks black otherwise.

I will continue the break-up of the Duogasm with a similar food report.

Have any of you guys heard of or bought the Bolthouse brand of fruit drinks? It's like V8 except surprisingly delicious, being fruit-based and not vegetable-based. A 16 oz. bottle is $2.50 but it's so rich and dense that it lasts me at least two days.

The "C-Boost" one is good, tastes like peaches
The kiwi/spinach one is different but I love it
The banana-strawberry one is like liquid yogurt, if you're into that
The blueberry one leaves an odd aftertaste (much like blueberry pomegranate juice)

Haven't tried the raspberry/blackberry one.

And maybe some Saturated Fat.

What is saturated fat saturated in anyway? More fat? Polysorbates? Yellow #5?

While yes, those are good, I work at a McDonald's. the smell of that crap cooking is nauseating. I hate the smell of breakfast there, hence why I refuse to work it. Of course, I work there, know how it all works, and yet I still eat the food...but I usually make it myself for myself.

You guys are gross. What ever happened to making breakfast yourself?

Taking a couple cubes of chuck beef, charring the outside, and sprinking salt/pepper is just as delicious, just as neat and quick, and less unhealthy.

stir-fried chicken and rice, and a lemon lime bitters.

That's better. Must be home cookin' because you included bitters in a previous entry of "things bought."

ouch. I know this stuff 'cause I had a drug addicted friend. made him go to rehab, but anything I want to know about drugs and what they do to you I just have to ask him. Also I'm a college student, so that should help answer many of your questions. I just wanna reassure everybody, no I have not turned into a polar bear.

You're only partially correct anyway, it doesn't make you BECOME a polar bear, it makes you confident you can FIGHT a polar bear.

Acid I wouldn't try, but then again if you handed me LSD I'd immidiately start thinking about the mkultra tests (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mkultra) and start covertly dosing people with it as an 'experiment', also judging by some of the dreams I have (in a lot of them I wake up right as I die) I don't even wanna know what my subconcious would pull up whilst tripping.

And jazz cigarettes I dislike the smell of..which is hilarious, cause I am a very frequent smoker.

I just bought lost memory 1 and 2. those 2 big o manga never released out of japan. I plan on translating them and scanning the images into the computer.
on that note, does anyone know how to use photo shop or gimp or something better then paint? I'll need your help to insert the English text into the word bubbles. then we can publish it to a manga website.

Bought some Mouthwash, Arby's, Laser Tag tickets, soda, a few rounds of DDR.

Also, HI TIFARIA!

And finally, you can have my share of Acid and Weed. I don't need it. I'm not gonna waste the money on it. I can waste that money on video games and anime...and Daft Punk CDs....or the Con that's next weekend...

Yuko, I'm pretty sure there are tutorials on adobe's website.  Or you could google it.  It will be easier for you to learn it yourself than try to have someone else online teach you.

I bought a nifty cup yesterday that came with a little spoon.  There are holes in the handle of the cup for the spoon to rest in.  Yay!  I am always using up all the spoons in the house to make coffee/tea and then there are no clean spoons.  I also found super-cheap bamboo placemats!  I am torn between being happy about these cute things and dismayed that I am finally at an age where I like shopping for household items.

Hi Snake!  I will always call everyone here by the name I first knew them by no matter how many times you guys change your names.  Unless you ask me not to.

also, it's not sad you like shopping for household items. When you start liking to buy old lady things is when you worry.

We must be speaking two different languages, because I do not understand what it is you want.  Seriously, I have sat here scratching my head for a good minute trying to figure out how I could have misunderstood you.  But I didn't!  I know I did not, because clearly you contradicted yourself.  So despite my waning patience, I'll try again:  What exactly do you need help with, and why don't you just google some tutorials for whatever it is you need?

I know gimp it free, but I have never used it. I hear it's like paint and photo shop though. If it has a tutorial that isn't a video I'll use it.

Listen, Tifaria, I don't understand why you're getting so mad. Selecting the eraser tool and erasing is a pro technique. One time I tried to erase and ended up with a fried hard drive.

It's good to hear other people still have record players and that I'm not the only one! I love going to thrift/second hand stores to get records there, because they always have them for an incredibly cheap price (50 cents and/or $1) and there are some amazing finds too (like the entire soundtracks to My Fair Lady and West Side Story and even some Bing Crosby).

It's good to hear other people still have record players and that I'm not the only one!

Yep, I got one, too...a school phonograph from a rummage sale...with a new needle bought from Radio Shack. It was supposed to be for my mom,  to play her 33's and 45's. However, she really wanted something small, like a kiddy player... The first rock tune I ever heard was an old 45 of "Benny and the Jets" by Elton John.

Now, back to the spending...
Parking a few blocks from the ball park... $10 (and $6 for Mrs. Negotiators car, parked much farther away)... Food at the ball park... $32... 10 innings and my team gets the win...priceless... Also included at no extra charge: lots of traffic to the ballpark, lots of traffic in the parking garage itself, and as a result of "zoning" from climbing garage tiers behind said traffic, I thought I parked two levels below the level where I actually parked, and wasted a little time leaving. Yeah, I guess I could consider that "the tax"...  :)

P.S. I did acquire Puzzle Quest: Galactrix DS,  a couple of rear break rotors, a control arm (car part - yes it sounds like a cool sci-fi thing), Transformers: Animated Activator Megatron and... Why yes, Megatron... He stands on my computer desk, entertained by a gunfight between Worlds Smallest Prime & Megatron and a fistfight between ROTF Legends Power-up Prime/Jetfire & Megatron... I guess I'm easily amused... 8)

And ear infections suck. I've had one for over a week and I couldn't sleep because of it. Took the medicine I was given and I slept for more then 3 hrs for the first time in a week.

So i guess what i really bought was sleep.

Battery for the car that isn't running. I'm trying to get it up again.

And it has a new name: The Red Comet

1. the car is red.
2. I have a zeon emblem on the driver's side rear window
3. I have a zeon keychain on my keys
4. I'm Pimp Char.

So I'm going to, after it's running, because that's more important, get graphics and whatnot to give it a mobile suit appearance. I was thinking maybe a head of a suit, but I'm not sure. Maybe make it a Gelgoog head or something. Do I have a Gelgoog figure?  Ithink so, but I don't think it's Char's...and  Ihate this keyboard's spacebar...

Tickets for Natsucon. I'm going to see the Deedee twins again! And I was texting them...they now have a Harley Quinn and a Joker. Their joker might be disappointed though. I think he was anxious to see the Crow, but I'm thinking Graverobber this weekend, especially with the Repo show being next weekend.

Yeah, we've got a comic/toy convention this weekend. I might check it out if I have the chance...

Anyhow, let's see:

Some dental work... (Ouch! Actually, it feels much better now...)
A cheap Dremel-type grinder (Just think... Some modeling material and we've got COA action figures...)
A charcoal chimney (Think Megatron's fusion cannon...filled with charcoal and lit... ;D)
Mobil-1... for my Grand Prix GT coupe... Yes, it's red, too... (But heros always wear black?!? They wear red, too...)
Anniversary gifts... That's right, Mrs. Negotiator & me - 5 years... See, sometimes the best things in life are free... (BTW, R. Daniel, just the same, free TV? DUDE, that's awesome!)

P.S. For those red car owners - Do you find that when you park your car, when you've returned to it, there are other red cars around? It's happed to me many times...

I named my car Higurashi, because its exterior color is blood-red, its interior color is blood-red, and because I found blood spatter and a bloody/rusty pair of scissors in the center console compartment (and trace droplets in other areas). Not even the car dealer had thought to check that compartment while it sat in his lot.

I once bought the complete box set of Excel Saga on DVD. Set me back about maybe $100 or so. I then watched the whole thing one disc at a time, then binged the whole series within 48 hours. I then never watched it again. It is currently sitting on the shelf behind my computer, staring me down with its expensive and patience-expending cardboard gaze.

As for what I bought recently: Food. A generic, formless substance containing nutrients and calories required for daily living. It makes the watery discharge consumed intravenously by the witless inhabitants of the Matrix look like Italian cuisine by comparison.

No, I'm not telling you what it actually was.

Crimefighting on the cheap: $3.50 Iron Man Mark VI (I also have a $4.00 - Mark III)

Today, my co-worker bought me a Quarter Pounder meal for my birthday. Good, but I didn't get any pieces this time, since there's none on a Quarter Pounder or medium fries, and they were out of medium Monopoly cups w/pieces. Bummer...

Mrs. Negotiator and I visited some friends up North. We stopped, ate, and shopped a little along the way.

First, we went to Sheetz for 1 huge KitKat (for one of her co-workers), 3 cheeseburger sliders, 1 Angus burger, 10 onion rings, and a large root beer for 2 (i.e. two straws). (For those that don't have one, Sheetz is like a gas station/deli/diner combined, but in a good way. No, really, the food is great!)

Then we stopped at Best Buy, where I partially burned a birthday gift card on Iron Maiden's "Final Frontier", B-17 DS, and Transformers 1: Autobots DS. I got a little left for something else...

Finally, off to Walmart for 2 Danishes for our host, and some baby socks for my baby niece's Halloween bag.

Are you going to contrast Japanese tastes in games vs American/European tastes, and also talk about the differences sometimes found in the Japanese, American, and European released versions of the same game? I sometimes get a chuckle out of the fact that one of the most popular video game characters in Japan is of Italian origin, since that's part of my heritage.

I once got an emulation of SRW "D", to see if I could select Big O and fight somebody. Alas, my knowledge of written Japanese is sorely lacking, and I didn't get past the selection screens. It was fun to try, though. Maybe I'll study a little more before trying next time... Hey, just think, when the report is done, you can still have fun playing the games.

^nice.

And I did the report on Japanese culture in video games and it's impact on American society.
Yeah I talked about Mario, and a lot of other things. What I had written down for the report was just notes. Everything I talked about was from personal expirance from playing games since I was 3 years old. I actually did very good.

And yesterday I got Botaki 2 in Japanese from a local game store, then I got megaman Starforce 2 Sauron and DQ Rocket Slime.

A few days before that I got a blue DSI (I'd been saving up for one for a while) and a sackboy doll from little big planet.

My Jap version of Pokemon red came in, so I'm going to go play it now.

A 7-set of jumbo white polyhedral dice from Dicepool.com. They didn't actually get here yet, but I paid for them, which I guess counts as buying.

A second black 7-set from The Dice Shop as well, which has also not yet arrived.

Aaand the PDF of the Basic Roleplaying corebook from Chaosium a week ago. That's about it.

EDIT: My order from Dicepool came today, only they got it mixed up with some other guy's and I've got the wrong stuff (a bunch of d6s instead of the 7-set). I sent them an email to see what they can do about it, because seriously, I've been waiting a long time for my stuff.

Scott Pilgrim on DVD. For those who hated it, shoosh. I plan to buy the books as well. I'm in the middle of the fourth book right now, but am reading the Legend of Drizzt books more. And eventually I'll finish the game...

The .PDF book of MAID: The Roleplaying Game for $7 at Indie Press Revolution.

...what?

I played this once on another forum before the person running it got busy.

My maid was addicted to every narcotic and walked around referring to themselves in the third person, describing the parallel dimension they supposedly came from. There was a bong-sword that had a "legalize it" sticker on it too.

It was decided that if the game ever gets restarted, the maids will all be homeless and my character will mainly just try to cook crystal meth for money/to get real real high.

It's a rpg where the characters are maids. (If this is the same one, and I'm remembering it right, maybe ours was specifically as wacky as it could get cause it had maids preforming mundane janitorial duties on a demonic torture maze for comedic purposes)

I bought it 2 weeks ago but it only came (finally) today. This thing is goddamned HUGE. At first I was afraid I accidentally bought an engine block.

All I've done so far is play Crysis. It runs on the highest settings with an awesome framerate. :)

Well, granted, they're both water-cooled, but I'm sure it's too silent to be. Although, you never know with Alienware. It just might have an arc reactor in there somewhere...
Nothing wrong with playing lots of Crysis. It's a goal I hope to achieve someday...

I got the Karate Kid Trilogy, and the Snake Eyes/Timber figures that should have been bundled with my GIJoe DVD...

Yeah, that's the one. Although your game of it sounds a bit more colorful than the ones I've seen (but yeah, the corebook actually does have "alcohol/drugs" as a Stress Explosion).

For the curious, more information may be had here (http://www.maidrpg.com/index.shtml).

Yeah, the "stress explosion" for mine is they'd suddenly go into severe withdrawl.

Also I think we were using like a random attribute generator and then from what we got would go make stats (or that was something else I forget)

Sounds about right; that's how the book describes it. It gets pretty whacked out when damn near everything about every character is decided by a bunch of d6s.

Also of note, Dicepool just sent me a full refund for my botched order, with reassurance that I can keep the dice they sent. They apparently ran out of the jumbo 7-sets, and the guy they mixed up my order with got nothing (although they probably refunded him, too). So I... kind of un-bought something there and yet wound up with merchandise anyway.

Oh, well, more money for DriveThruRPG.

The regular price would have put my order around $60, but thanks to the big-ass Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Thanksgiving sale, I got it all for only $13. Because this is the "last thing you bought" thread.

Seriously, though, piracy doesn't really appeal to me for a couple of reasons; if I'm dealing with a store I think deserves my business, I have no problem paying for things. I just prefer to do things legit when I can.

Plus a lot of bootleg places are so addled with spam and viruses it's like wading into a cesspool loaded with depth charges.

I am real life Haseo/Kite. I can dual wield just about any weapon that you can use with one hand. I totally beat my friend high school slave (his name is a joke BTW). My other friend Christen had practice wooden swords in his car. Just a little below Wakizashi size. I took both, held them backwards, and then slashed with 'em a bit.

Then I scared the crap outta both of them. I had a 20+ pound backpack on and ran the two steps to high school slave, bent side ways a bit and slashed with my left hand. High school slave brought his hand up to catch it, but failed miserably. I slashed at his ribs. Of course I stopped before I hit him, but the look on both my friends faces was priceless.

HSS just looked at me, shook his head and said "Ok then." And threw up his hands.

Yeah I'm good with the blades.

But on the topic of buying things I got coconut fruit juice.

Norinco is the only one that makes a replica of it that I've ever heard of. And of course they're not importing stuff because they ended up selling prohibited weapons to gangs and got caught in an ATF sting or something back in the 1990s

Mosin-Nagants are like...what, around 100 bucks usually. Slightly higher if you're looking for one of the Finnish ones (apparently these are more widely sought by collectors, I'm not entirely sure why) so yeah. Oh, right or the sniper rifles. I've heard the markets rife with knockoff ones, as in ones where somebody just swapped the bolt out and installed the scope and then claimed its an "authentic" one. They're pretty neat, I still have to take one out to a range though..you'd think I'd be tripping over those since its PA

I've never dueled with bokken, but I've dueled with a (tipped) fencing foil, and was told I'm pretty good. I've made mock weapons, though (a mock dagger - a plastic silver butterknife with a wrapped handle/end, and a kind of mock sawed-off - a broken axehandle, with anodized nail trigger and hammer). I've dueled with "lightsabers", but I'd rather skip the severed limbs. Besides, I respect any sword-wielder, who slaps unworthy opponents with the flat of the sword rather than cut them down.

Hey dudes I know Cyrillic. The bottle says... Damnit it has the translation right underneath. DAMNITTTT!

I know, that takes all the fun out of it... Kind of like when you hear something in multilingual format, and just as your about to translate, they start the spoken english.

I haven't a clue what to get people this year, and some gifts were not in my budget, so it's mostly gift cards or restaurant gift cards. We did get gifts for my nephew and nieces.... This will be my nephew's first Christmas...

Wendy's came out with new fries - they now have the skins still on and covered w/sea salt. I like them... Got a 1/4 lb. bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a root beer, because Wendy's serves Barq's, and caffeinated root beer pleases me greatly... Especially on bowling nights...

Hey, I forgot to mention that. I've payed $10 per league night on about every Thursday since early September (excluding those on or near holdiays). My scores were something like 149/157/99... What the hell?!? Yeah, sometimes I struggle with the 3rd, but my average is like 143... After last night, we're on Christmas break...

After bowling, stopped at "Big Lots!" a local odd-lots store, to look at the Christmas stuff. Got cheap LED lights to fix our light-up buck. Also, more dish soap because it's my turn to wash...

Cigarettes. Because when paired with coffee the stimulants combine into some insane megazord kind of a deal which allows me to either murder rita repulsa's monster or finish papers. Possibly both..like some kind of a fugue state.

My wife treated me to breakfast last weekend at Denny's, where I preceeded to order coffee, a pancake platter, and, because they have them during the holidays, a chocolate peppermint shake (my wife tempted me when she got the vanilla one). Suffice it to say, the caffeine/maple syrup/milkshake (with crushed candy canes) has made me a resident of this state, too. Oh, and J. S. Bach lays down some awesome fugues... :D Maybe, next time I'll go caffeine/maple syrup/milkshake with some Bach... Whoa, no maybe that's too much at once - my head might explode...

Update 12/20/2010: A ticket to TRON Legacy... Wait, did I pay my buddy back yet? Please see the "Bootlegged Film" thread for my review. (Granted, not bootlegged, but it's the only movie thread...)

Was gonna go see True Grit, but the earliest showing was at 5:00, and that's the same time the buses stop running here while school's not in session, apparently.

As for actually buying stuff, I've been pretty busy with Christmas shopping, though I still have to find something for my little sister and grandparents. I wanted to get my aunt and her boyfriend a pair of Bottle of Wine Glasses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l05OuJ8GRs8), but they're sold out literally everywhere I looked. But then I saw these (http://www.worldwidefred.com/winestein.htm), and just thought they were too awesome to pass up.

Darn office blocking tech. Just a second, let me search Internet images. Wow...
And I thought the 22 oz beer (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM223912075P?sid=IDx20101019x00001a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=SPM223912075) at a local restaurant was a cool thing. Now the bottle of wine glasses are a cool idea, but the "winesteins", man. They're slick...

I finally finished my Christmas shopping for Mrs. Negotiator's gifts Monday night. I had a coupon from Victoria's Secret (Um...I don't know, maybe they like me?), so I bought what any other husband would for their wife...Pajama pants and a small perfume! Hah! Hey, you say, those pajamas don't have a top...Indeed. No, I bought her a top, too...just somewhere less expensive. I also got her music and some scented lotions. I agree with Jeff Foxworthy, though. Only girls are concerned with the scents in a room. With guys, if there's a "scent" in the room, it's probably a bad one that we're trying to remove... ;D Once I got home Monday, I found out I went over my budget a little, so I returned a TV DVD last night. That's it, though. I'm done...at least until the after-Christmas mayhem. ;D

Cool. Been thinking of getting a Airsoft pistol myself lately, particularly since I couldn't find the one I got at a gun show while I was home for Christmas.

Let's see, 2 double cheeseburgers, a rodeo burger and mocha drink from BK; gasoline and 1 liter each of water and Mountain Dew; gasoline, 1 bag black licorice and 1 Little Debbie brand Chocolate Pie; 10 piece Chicken McNuggets; gasoline, 1 2-liter of Coca-Cola Classic and 1 bottle of Admiral Nelson's.

Second half of the trip up was a bit stressful, what with all the snow.

Admiral Nelson's.

This always seemed like a real odd thing to name a brand of alcohol, or at least funny in kind of a dark way, considering after Trafalgar they shipped Nelson's corpse back in a cask of brandy to preserve it.

The fact the drawing of nelson on the bottle looks absolutely nothing like him makes me think no, it wasn't intended as some tongue in cheek joke.

I just realized this post is geeky nitpicking of the historic aspects of a rum label, posted on a forum about japanimes. I think I just beat the large hadron collider at creating a singularity.

R. Daniel - Awesome! Yeah, I often clean the entire section of street in front of my driveway. Too many people park up one side, so the plows only clear one lane (the opposite side).

Sorry, late to post again. Unfortunately, my first purchase of the New Year was flowers for a funeral (actually. I only chipped in money).

For New Years Eve, my wife and I split a big Japanese grilled dinner. I bought her a traditional holiday punch, and had some plum wine. I almost ate a piece of sushi roll , but just took a taste instead... It was OK.

Last week, got cat food, litter, and the Classics Hot Rod & Cyclonus 2-pack with the included IDW comic. The 2-pack is a pretty good deal. Take that eBay! Don't worry, guys, I have anime stuff, too. Yes, some of them transform, too...

I have the sudden urge to yell "Boom bitch!". I officially play too many video games.

No no, actually just enough...  8) Good, we worried about whether you met your video game recommended daily allowance. I also saw a pseudo-NERF revolver, on my cat food trip, that made my trigger finger itch...

And a text book for history class. I'm taking Asian history.

It's fun, but China's "Great Leap Forward" is a very sad story. "Son of the Revolution" was a great text. I think, during a street fight, the main character's friend yelled something like "F___ all three of your generations!" at someone. Epic swear! I took Asian Art & an Anthropology course in Chinese Society.

Got some more free Wendy's food with my gift card...

Guys don't start talking about Nerf guns. Remember, I worked at Toys R Us during the Christmas season and I already loved them before. If you get me started... I may never stop.

Also the pseudo-revolver he may have been talking about could have also been the Barricade, which is battery operated and therefore impure, but also has ten barrels instead of six.

Actually, I looked it up, and it was the Buzz Bee Tek 6 (hence the pseudo-NERF), which also comes in an affordable twin pack, for dual-wielding. The Maverick is sweet, though. How do you not feel like Vash the Stampede with a Maverick in your hand?

The pseudo-NERF shotgun, with dart-holding "shells" was awesome, too. Can you say "boomstick" boys and girls? I knew you could...

Yeah, Air Zone guns are usually ugly, but they work at least as well as their Nerf counterparts. They're cheaper, too!

Quote
The machine gun...forgot its name. Oh, Stampede
The Stampede is more of a light machine gun/assault rifle. The Vulcan is the machine-gun.

It's pretty sweet. I love its gunshield. Gunshields in general turn me on, big-time.

AGAIN, though, it's battery-operated. Fuck that shit. Why spend money on batteries, especially when the electronics inside the gun are likely very flimsy? I imagine batteries getting knocked out or plastic casing cracked, and then you're fucked and have to buy a whole new gun. In real life, sure I'd take that firing rate, but for Nerf playtime, not worth it.

Quote
The pseudo-NERF shotgun
Even though they are functionally a shotgun, the Nerf Barrel Break and its Air Zone equivalent are effectively not shotguns. For a true shotgun-type, you'd want the Nerf Hornet, because it fires many darts at once, in a slight spread.

If I understand correctly, the Vulcan takes either some rechargeable battery or a 9V. I don't remember which. Anyway, they boosted the voltage and put in a bigger battery, but that wasn't good enough for them. So then they hooked up two larger rechargeable batteries and it did make a difference. Next they decided to play with the inside motor stuffs to be more suitable to the battery input power to make a better output result.

But I've noticed that over the years, Nerf stopped advertising to kids and more to people our age.

Yuko: I suddenly suspect you live east of me...because it sounds like you got hit by the snowstorm that rolled over here Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Also, Yuko, that Dingoo sounds really cool...

OK, well my wife hasn't had a good time driving her Elantra in the snow here in Southwestern Pennsylvania. She was going to trade it in for an Impreza, but it's so new, and my 1999 Grand Prix GT is very old now. So I did the right thing... I bought her Impreza, with my Pontiac as a trade-in and some cash to keep her payments as low as if her Elantra was traded in. Oh, and I'm buying out her Elantra loan, to use it for my daily driver... Not much like my GT, but still accelerates/handles OK.

I don't own an xbox, halo isn't that great a fps I didn't think from what I played, and can we talk about the kinect for a second..why does it give you a video playback of your movements? It's just mortifying to watch, you invariably look like a spastic. I played some bowling and then boxing game with my roommates, caught part of the video playback...damn it looked like I was having some kind of grand mal seizure. Or we all did.

It's like the machine was insulting us, and I for one do not like being judged by some glorified webcam. My species went to the moon you son of a bitch, you just sit around there contributing nothing and being a voyeur, kinect controller, maybe you should have a long hard think about just what gives you the right to judge others.

Paintball all the way.

There's no practical consequence for getting hit in lasertag!

Nor can you run around freely because ooh the guns are expensive electronics, and ooh so is the vest, and ooh we're stuck in this tiny dark room so we'll run into things and brake them/hurt ourselves or each other.

Fallout: New Vegas, the book for it, Daft Punk: Alive 2007, Bullet for my Valentine: Fever, and copy 94,316/250,000 of NIN's The Slip.
Oh, and Panera.

I was playing laser tron once, and my gun wouldn't shoot, and it was constantly registering hits against me. When I looked at the little display on the chest piece that says how many shows I had left, it was gibberish.

Then the dude who works there calls me over, and tells me to get a new vest, because I was basically wearing an electrical fire.

Fun times. I think the place went out of business a couple years ago.

That happens sometimes. But When you get a working pack, and have a solid gameplan (I go in with a team of four, and we camp four spots and hold the "castle area". People try to get in and shut us down, but we've got tactics.) then things get really fun and become great exercise.

Oh yeah, Other things I bought with the rest of that stuff: DS XL, Balder's Gate Dark Alliance II, Front Mission on the DS, and FF III on the DS.

An $8 knockoff Devastator from Big Lots! (not bad combined or as vehicles, but issues with the robots):

batteries for a couple watches, including the one from Mrs. Negotiator on Valentine's Day...
It looks a little familiar... 8) She picked it out herself... I love her logic. She's quite an "angel"...

Also, a little "souvenir" Transformer from the comics show for a couple bucks, since I saw nothing worth buying (low- or high-priced) - like $60 for Adam West's autograph. Plus, my brother-in-law felt sorry for me, so he handed me one of his comic books. I then ended up finding the trade paperback I wanted at a used book shop - 5 bucks, and in good condition.

Plus some food... Yeah, food's good. Some supermarket, some Mickey D's, some Wendy's (asiago ranch chicken sandwich - awesome!), and I was also "thinking a little Arby's" (Angus sandwich - awesome!).

Crud! Forgot to pay my bowling league fee... I guess I'll owe $20 next week... :)

Now, I have con zombie in massive form.

I forgot to say, the exclamation point is part of "Big Lots!" name. I wasn't shouting or anything... Still, Devy for $8, and even if it's gotta be my first kitbash, I think it was worth the 8 bucks. Plus, my brother-in-law has the real Devy, and it helped us figure out the assembly...

awe childhood, where did you go?

Where it usually goes... In boxes/bags, under steps/(on shelves), to flea markets/eBay/trash heaps... It went lots of places... ;D Alot of mine are still in remarkably good shape, despite the fact that I hand them to my nephew and nieces. Like I told my mom, toys just shouldn't meet their end MIB/MOC/NIB. Besides, when they rarely break, I get better at fixing them every day... My brother-in-law, the Star Wars fan, was shocked at some of the Star Wars diecast stuff I still have... Also, apparently, I not only have Micronauts and their Tranformers descedants, but also some Blockman characters (though labelled "Robotech"). The Takara Trifecta... Hey, I got some chibi Valkyries, too...with guns!

Watch is awesome, and I love the transformer. Did they have one in blue? Or an Optumis Prime knockoff?

Kind of like a negotiator knock off model... 8) No, not much except for a few yellow Devvies and other combiners (Aerialbots, Protectobots, and Stunticons) and even those are gone now. The dollar stores have really little Leo Primes and so-so TF wannabes. However,  Big Lots! & dollar stores are about it, unless Walmart does their "Easter Basket" specials again... Haven't seen any Primes or Megs at all... May have to just get a Tek 6 instead... ;D

UPDATE: Y'know, with all the fun discussion on Monday, I forgot to mention that I bought donuts & donut "holes" for the office...and I like donuts. I also bought a coffee, which I didn't share, but it was too small to share anyhow.  :P On the donut box was a coupon: buy a jumbo coffee and get two free donuts. I could probably share that coffee...

And a full armory doesn't cost a quarter here. Good armor costs a lot. My mom's cool on the shield, and even some throwing quills (bad ass Chinese weapon. Think Kunai, but smaller and harder to see when thrown). The sword is what takes convincing. She says I have to many already. I say never enough.

Darn, Monday morning and you already have me looking up weapons. Let's see, already know broad sword and shield...kunai...kunai... Ah, there you go. OK...
Hmmm...Interesting...according to a certain wiki-based encyclopedia, they're more akin to a crowbar than a knife...and here I thought I needed weapons... I own a crowbar...a fine crowbar...and also a mini...no, make that "throwing" crowbar.  ;D I suppose if those fail, I have two large diameter dowels - short enough for speed, but fast enough for strike force - that would make good staffs.

I also bring these (http://www.pentel.com/catalog_product.php?id=761) to work (0.5 mm, black of course), which, according to a certain TV program, could be formidable weapons, but were unfortunately used by person of criminal persuasion. I can asure you that mine have always been used for good...they make such great doodles...

Y'know, Yuko, it might be good to have a ranged weapon, too. How about a compound bow or crossbow? Properly aimed, they could be great non-fatal, painful, and near-silent way of telling criminals that your house just isn't worth visiting... Nuff said...

Gee, in comparison, my buys are pretty boring this week: A nice seafood dinner; a new flagpole mount, a lapdesk, a large space bag for an unwieldy comforter (that couldn't fit in folded space); an inexpensive set of lawn lights, a cheaper tarp, and almost-free scissors... Plus I covered my unpaid two-weeks of bowling and dental appointments for Mrs. N. & me...

Awesome buy, Yuko! My wife once found a used Return of the King Special Edition, and gave it to me as a gift. I thought it was really cool...

Don't cry, Yuko... I'm sure there's lots and lots of non-lethal stuff out there that would still be "fun"...  ;D

Got some craft-store air-dry epoxy clay, for kitbashing purposes.

I spent my coffee and two free donuts coupon yesterday (bought Mrs. N a Boston creme donut - yum yum - and I got chocolate-iced w/sprinkles), and then used an A&W coupon for discounted bacon cheeseburger, so I bought cheese curds (like pieces of fried string cheese), and an A&W root beer... Yeah, we've got plenty of beverages at home, but I figured "I'm at A&W...might as well pour myself a root beer" (since it is on tap).

Hmmm... The "Big Lots!" nearer to my house had several robots, transforming robots, Transformers, and one bootleg Transformer: Onslaught. However, with Bruticus/Baldigus being walking ownage, why would I only buy 1/5 of him? Also, the name on the package was "Tugging Gun" which...just...didn't sound...right... They also had a cheap twin-pack of Tek 3 3-barrel foam-dart revolvers... Kind of liked the idea of dual-wielding for 3 shots, but then that would make dual-wielding Mavericks or Tek 6's even more awesome.

Hope everyone else survived doomsday May 21st. Wait...the last reply was on May 19th... Hmmmm... ???

Yeah, I haven't really spent much on fun stuff either. I got more kit-bashing supplies: non-drying clay & dual-syringe epoxy - with some oil paint from my parents' house (that is, when they're home & not busy), I can start on one project. I also got the Clone Wars animated movie from a used book store. (I think it's special edition, too. Oooo. Nice...) I used some gift cards to get discounts on both TRON movies. Me and the Mrs. also burned some M & M's movie cash, and minimal real cash on Hangover 2. If I can scrape a few brain cells back together, I'll post a comment in the movie thread.

Yeah, Hangover Pt.2 overdid it a little. I went to see the new X-Men movie this weekend, and got a large Mountain Dew so I wouldn't be coughing during the whole movie. I was feeling a little under the weather last week...

Nice find, Yuko! I'm still playing around with the same 2D DS, when I can. I suppose if you could tweak the MHz, or up the volts on the CPU/GPU a little, it could be overclocked. However, even with PC's you need access to those motherboard parameters (whether they're advertised or secret options).

I used to have a 9600XT-based graphics card with "overdrive". I had to flash update the ROM to enable it, because the factory flash didn't have it (though the ATi factory boards did). In overdrive, coupled with a 1.2 AMD Thunderbird, 512K 133MHz SDRAM, and a 7200 Seagate ATA/100, Doom III was very playable (cinematics were low FPS though).

The X-Men ticket is my most interesting purchase so far this month, since my only other purchases are deodorant, bathroom sink washers (there are several in my toolbox, but no "0" flat ones), and lunch at Jerome Bettis Grille 36 (named after the TV announcer and former Pittsburgh Steeler). Yeah, the external Hard Drives are pretty reasonable now, so I might get one, too.

We also got some free stuff this weekend, from supporters of the Walk for Autism, and my wife got a free T-shirt, since she reached the minimum donation goal.

A game makes much more sense. I've never overclocked myself. Always seemed like too much trouble and risk for a little gain.

We also got some free stuff this weekend, from supporters of the Walk for Autism, and my wife got a free T-shirt, since she reached the minimum donation goal.

Free stuff is always good. Even better when you get it for a good cause.

It was a real challenge to create a PC configuration that kept CPU/memory/components running above the posted specs., but still within engineering tolerances (which were sometimes encoded, or sometimes unpublished). However, overclocking provided huge performance gains for some people, and I think they liked the challenge. Yeah, I remember my one tech-savy friend attaching a small kitchen-cooling type fan (and air filtering material!) over a large self-cut side-hole in his case, to get more speed from his K6/2. I think he went from like 500Mhz to 600Mhz, which was pretty good for the mid 90's - the early years of overclocking.

However, I never thought of overclocking my 1200/266 Thunderbird in 2001, because that was already pretty fast (faster than the 1200/200's, and fast enough to run Doom III w/a 9600XT, which recommended using 1.5 Pentium 4). I mean, I still had inlet & exhaust fans, and a nice CPU cooler fan (w/"Arctic Silver" paste), but that was just to run a cool system. Before my 9600XT, case temp was room temperature. With my 9600XT, it was 77-80 degrees. I only had standard SDRAM, too. I do remember the ABIT motherboard having overclock parameters, though (it was a nice board).

Overclocking was usually a safe venture as long as you respected engineering tolerances. Believe it or not, the 9600XT overdrive mode was actually manufacturer- and ATi-approved overclocking, due to sensors on the card automatically controlling the overclock. The card would "throttle" the GPU at whatever speed would keep the temperature sensors happy.

We also got some free stuff this weekend, from supporters of the Walk for Autism, and my wife got a free T-shirt, since she reached the minimum donation goal.

Except for the T-shirt, the rest was food this time. Not many company booths at the walk this year, but those there were very generous, and the turnout for the event was huge. My wife and I were really proud of our city.

I can understand why others would want to overclock, just not something I'd do myself. Component manufacturers do seem a lot more open to overclockers. When I was shopping for a new mobo, many of the high end models seemed to boast a number of oc-centric features.

Bought a new keyboard, and a couple compact discs, the other day from Amazon. The keyboard was a bit expensive, but it should be nice having the Control and Escapes keys in the correct location.

I was given a shirt. It seems a nice shirt.

^lol.

I'm hopefully going to have enough chore money from doing chores for my grandparents to buy OOT 3ds this weekend. My grandpa said he'd give me $30 by the end of the week if I work for more then 1 hour every day till Friday. I worked for 1hr 30min today.

usually my grandpa does everything around the house, but he had surgery last week and can't do much without being in lots of pain. So I have a money making opportunity, and I'm taking it.

^Awesome Yuko! Have fun! I mean...with runescape...

^It's still nice to help out your grandparents, too. I mean, I know grandparents don't need reasons to give gifts, but this money will have more meaning, since you earned it making them happy, and keeping their house nice. OOT 3DS looks really cool!

Bought a new keyboard, and a couple compact discs, the other day from Amazon. The keyboard was a bit expensive, but it should be nice having the Control and Escapes keys in the correct location.

I hate the "economized" ones, too. The ones with the "Insert" block of keys misplaced are no fun at all.

To cover shame? Nah, I think you need a good pair of cheap sunglasses for that... A nice shirt is still nice, though...

I got a replacement laptop power adapter (1st one only lasted 3 years), discounted tickets to the movie Bridemaids for my wife and I, two hot dogs (for my dinner), popcorn (for her), and a big Sprite (to split). Why get dinner at the theater for me? Because after Bridesmaids, I walked across the hall to use my free Green Lantern pass, and barely got admitted. Free, and 3-D, too! My wife was happy too, since we drove down separately, and she, not being a fan, could still go home. Now, it looks like my desktop is rebelling against it's inexpensive power supply - I guess I'll order this next...

haha, lol. I'm going to buy a 90 day rs card in a week. you get 5 extra days and a free weapon for buying one from gamestop. My grandma surprised me today. She told me I remind her of her father, whom myself, my mom and grandma look like. I also have his eyes and humor. I never knew him, he died before my mother graduated high school, so at least a decade before I was born. That took me by surprise, seeing as I never knew him. My grandma also said she wished she could just give me the money, but times are tough. I looked at her and said if she just gave it to me that would make me spoiled, and if I earned it it would mean more. Plus I'm not some spoiled brat, I expect to have to work for my money, not get it for nothing.

I got Kill Zone Liberation for free from the welcome back playstation program. it's fun.

Honestly, I'd never given much thought to keyboards or keyboard layouts before. I've been using Linux enough that the Esc and Ctrl keys are actually useful, and it makes a world of difference having them closer to the original locations. This store (http://www.geekstuff4u.com/accessories/desktop/happy-hacking-keyboard-lite-2.html) has some good pics of the layout.

Only after several keystrokes can you really see the strengths/weaknesses of the keyboards. For example, my wife's PC is name brand, and has the "Insert" key block issue I mentioned before. Mine is a wired (i.e. old - 2001) Logitech Internet Navigator, which has good tactile feel, but somewhat bad angle, and half-height F-keys and Esc. However, it has lots of fun buttons.

That layout reminds me of the The Ultimate LAN Rig (http://www.bjorn3d.com/articles/The_Ultimate_LAN_Rig/30.html) article. This PC was was at one of our LAN parties.
I think we had 13 PC's connected via router/switch combo, playing Q3 and MoH (except for one name-brand one, with same NIC as mine, that would not network - never did solve that one...). Good times.

Prescription glasses? Well no wonder... Glasses=cool (Abel Nightroad-Trinity Blood, Vash the Stampede-Trigun, Jin-Samurai Champloo, Kamina-Gurren Lagann, Archibald Witwicky-Transformers, James T. Kirk-Star Trek, Hank McCoy - X-Men, Max Sterling-Robotech, Ben Franklin, Weird Al-well,he used to at least, Donnie Iris-still does, and several others). So, there's basically no shame for you to hide...

That's actually pretty awesome, especially for 2002. I've never had much use for media keys, and even my last keyboard didn't have anything like that, but I will agree that keyboard angle is incredibly important. Not having a Caps Lock indicator can be occasionally frustrating, and I do miss the numpad occasionally; thought I had one somewhere, but I guess not.

Just bought some books for summer classes, and a new pair of earbuds.

I've saved/microwave-reheated leftover coffee in urgent situations. But mostly, I like my lock-and-load self-grind coffee makers. Makes my strong morning coffee, or half-caff for myself or guests (although I've been going back to full-octane lately). That's on top of the 1-2 additional teas that I drink at work/home/somewhere.

My usual restaurant weapon of choice is the flavored ice teas, but I'll buy a fountain Coke/Pepsi/Dew every now and again. No pills please. I'm no Jetson... :) I want my kick to have a little flavor. I once got caramel/truffle-flavored beans for my dad, when he gave up candy for Lent. Little did I know he wasn't a flavored-coffee fan. So, he gave it back to me, and I drank it. Yum yum, even if the flavoring is sticky (probably added syrup), and cleanup kinda sucks... Kona and Sumatra are good, too. I once went to Kona, during my honeymoon.

Books, because 1/2 priced books is fun. Also the first season of Inuyasha. Childhood was calling me.

Half-price books are awesome. I got great closeout games/music from them, too.

We went to the Pittsburgh Pirate-Boston Red Sox games on Friday (friend bought tickets) and Saturday (we found 2 reasonably-priced seats). Nice seeing the Pirates win for a change. Usually, that's not the case, but it's been a good year. Unfortunately, the Red Sox won on Sunday... Maybe if we had gone again...nah...that's too much money, especially with us getting dinner there both times.

I went on the next movie "field trip" Tuesday night (IHOP/Transformers: Dark of the Moon). Pot roast melt + broccoli cheddar soup + raspberry tea + big bots battling in IMAX 3D = good times... The cheaper 2D IMAX would have been OK...had it not sold out...  >:( I bought a couple "souvenirs", too (miniature Ironhide and Powerglide), and also got a free one from my sister/brother-in-law (a Burger King Optimus Prime head, with flip-out body, that speaks). Apparently my childhood was calling, too, and it sounded like Optimus Prime...  ;D

Nice finds, Yuko! So I guess you now have your sword now? A while ago, I got a nice CASE pocket knife from their factory in Bradford, PA (chrome w/white handle). It's similar to the knife that my dad gave to me long ago, which has since been misplaced.

The orb of my mouse is one of the logitech ones that you move the ball, not the whole mouse. And it has two side buttons.

Might get an itunes gift card to bu the freaking games and songs I want.

I think Logitech had the one where you could replace the orb with a marble-patterned orb, or an 8-ball. I still have a Logitech ball mouse, because it has 4 buttons, and the new mice are too small for my hands. Very uncomfortable...

In mid-July, my wife got an airline discount, so we went to Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL (she also found a ticket discount there). Apparently, there's a Yeungling brewery across the street from the Hyatt Place Tampa/Busch Gardens, and a Pepsi bottler there, too. We went on the free Yeungling tour, and each got two free samples of beer.

Last Thursday, we went to our first Steelers game in Heinz Field (pre-season, but still fun). My wife got an awesome discount on 2 tickets. High up, but not "nose bleed", and a good view of the field.

Darn Hasbro, bled some money out of me again... What do you expect, though, when they release Ironhide and Powerglide in "desktop mascot" size?

I also needed propane for the grill. Grilled bacon is awesome...when it doesn't burst into flames...

I second that. I like the ads. I too have enjoyed a Dos Equis with some good Tex Mex cuisine...

More fixes for my rampant plastic mini robot habit...
-Generations Wheeljack...because... hey, he's Wheeljack. Brilliant mind coupled with mad scientist sensibility, housed in a robot body, and speaking with a New York or New Jersey accent... Plus...he comes with wrenches. Yeah, really... I'm going to see if I can find a Dollar Store "GIJoe weapons" pack, so I can give him twin samurai swords, like in Transformers: Prime. Either that, or have him swap his wrenches with Snake Eye's swords. Hey...Snake Eyes wielding wrenches...Maybe Paramount should get on board with this - even if it's for only one scene?

-Hasbro, trying to clear shelves for "TF: Prime" figures, has issued $5 off coupons on $5+ movie toys. So I grabbed some coupons for me, my brother-in-law, and another friend who's a TF fan. Then, I got a mini Sentinel Prime ($8-$5=$3), because Leonard Nimoy did an awesome job with him, and my BoL showed his thanks by helping me snag the new Laserbeak ($10-$5=$5).

Finally, my first kitbashing experience! I picked up some Testors "sublime green", and a tube of "dioxazine purple" oil paint (which can be used to color epoxy). The mold made of nonhardening polymer clay... The parts to mold - my knockoff G1 Devastators fists & forearms - parts my BoL has not yet acquired. It took forever to get a 50% impression in the clay. Mixed the purple paint and Loctite quick set epoxy on aluminum foil and spooned it in. It looks promising... A silicon mold would allow me to cast an entire part, but each half would take 24 hours to harden, and my time is often very limited. When I pour the other half, I'll place the hardened half on top, so they fuse. ~$3 paint (40% off $~7) + ~$3 epoxy + ~$3 modelling clay = ~$10 Transformer parts, cheaper than eBay...  ;D We'll see... I also got a couple small bricks of "oven bake" polymer clay...

Yep, food for me, too, since one cannot live on toys alone... Buffalo Wild Wings, Bucca di Beppo, Denny's, local places (with coupons, of course)... Some supermarket food, too, because I'm trying to save a little money...

Wow, no posts lately? Let me see, I got KO Aerialbots about a month or two ago, and KO Defensor about mid-spring.

Mostly, it's been groceries and gas for me. Gosh, considering what it costs to fill a 12-gallon tank for my four-cylinder small car, I'm kind of glad I'm not filling the 18-gallon tank of my larger Grand Prix coupe anymore, with the V-6 having about twice the displacement. Well, sort of...the Grand Prix was a fun car...

Oh well, there were some fun purchases here and there. We dined out a little for lunch and dinner. We had fun at the church carnival, and bought some great food there. I entered a few fun local raffles. I bought a nice pre-release concert shirt at a nearby mall. I will also have some more fun expenditures coming up. I'm just trying to save more in between the fun and important purchases.

Maybe I'll get another comic book? The comic book store at the mall just took over the store space of a closed Express store - enough to have sizable Magic the Gathering tournaments in back, and several mini-statues and busts (that used to occupy a glass case) up on shelves like some kind of comic book museum...or library.

^Maybe everyone is on vacation?

I got food, and paid a doctors bill. Doctors are really freakin expensive. Especially if you don't have insurance.

There went all my money.
