Piccolo was always my favorite DBZ character, and that picture looks like he's about to remove someone's entrails. Plus it's very clear.

Dancing Mega Man makes me giddy. You get a 10/10, for sure. I only wish it could be slightly better, though the 8-bit is happily nostalgic.

Maybe a dancing Proto Man sometime?

Pretty face with faded border is win. The white is almost blinding in its whiteness, but the negative space kind of works for this picture. A 150x150 avatar supports negative space a lot better than a 110x110 or even a 125x125. An 8/10.

All those who haven't rated DM's avatar, raise your hand...

I really like the border around it and the close up shot of Vegeta's mug works here as well. The eyes, they are somethin' so huge. But its anime, so yeah. I also like how there's a focus thing going on with the foreground and the background. It could just be the coloring but it seems that the face is in focus and the rest is out of focus. And that's pretty good with a picture this close to the face and without that much around it as well.

Vegeta: 8.5/10
Peace.

EyeOfPain: I like your avatar, I do, but I wish it were bigger. Given that it's so dark, and the forum background so light, I think a border might be redundant, so I won't mention that. I think the contrast of the stark white eye on the dark metallic face could be much more dramatic on a larger image. Still, 7.5/10 to you.

Thanks, Vegeta, though I can't take credit for the image. To be honest, the size does bother me a bit, as well.

If I had the inclination, I'd make an avatar much better suited to CoA, but I don't.

That pic of Garlic looking smug makes a great avatar, though, and the border does work well. Also, I love how well it goes with your sig.

A slug line is like your trademark point-making line. In your case, it's the:

... That means no one can kill me. ... Not even you, Kami.

Most intelligent bystanders, upon hearing this and seeing the being speaking it, should be running for cover...

Even "You should know better than to oppose Vegeta." had weight to it. Good job on both. It isn't always an easy task to discover a good sig line.

Garlic Junior: It's... Garlic Jr. Which makes sense given the name. The lines seem a little wiggly (though I suppose that's from the art itself, and not any actual distortion) and the border doesn't seem to complement it... still, though, it goes with the name and the rest of the theme, and he's one of my favorite DBZ villians. I think a 7/10 will do for this one.

I actually remember the movie "Tremors" from back in the day. I actually fairly enjoyed it, Burt being my favorite character of course. I don't remember which "Tremors" movie your avatar comes from though, my instincts tell me its the second in the series, but I doubt it. The picture itself ain't to shabby either.

Actually you're right. The avatar is from Tremors II... meanwhile the sig pic is from Tremors III. I just bought my dad (and myself ::) ) the complete Tremors "Attack Pack": Tremors I - IV. All four movies on two DVDs, with tons of bonus material.

Anyways...

Name Switchin' Guy: moar DBZ, because MOAR! Well, it's a very good scene, and fully appropriate to the theme... but the quality is absolutely horrendous and there's not a border in sight. I like it, I really do, but the most this can possibly merit is a 5/10.

The Big Finale: Well, it's nice and clear, which is great. Count Olaf is an epic villain, so casual in his evil. However, I think your border is excessive, the image being only a 140 x 140. It's not enough to lose a whole point, but still. I wish the image were larger as well. All in all, an 8.5/10.

9.8/10

Title: Re: Avatar Nation
Post by: DOMON KASSHU! on March 03, 2008, 01:53:51 PM
Eyeofpain: Why yes, it is indeed from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. As for your avatar, I still find it tiny, since it's just a tad more than half the size of the accepted size here. On with the rating:

Well, there's no border, which isn't really bad, exactly, for a picture that size, but it would still be cool. Heck, you could add one through Paint. I like the contrast with the eye. If only you knew what it was from, you could probably get yourself an even better avatar. Still, man, at least a 6/10. It's worth that much.

Ah, that movie was awesome, as was the whole series...

I actually do know where it's from (Eureka seveN). However, I'm too lazy to create an avatar myself. I stole this one, which was created by another user, from the [adult swim] message boards.

Since I don't have experience creating avatars, I'm not sure if the purple is any good. And even upping the res to 90x90, it seems way blurry to me.

Indeed. Perhaps I shall ask somebody... someday.

No new score?

Nah, I'll let someone else rate your avatar.

Hey, whomever posts next, rate myself and Eyeofpain, would ya?

Eye of Pain: It's pretty small, and kind of hard to make out the details, but the purple border matches it well. 7/10.

Joker: I don't really like how he's off-center, and part of it, especially the left (Joker's left, not our left) is kind of jagged. But it's still pretty damn cool. 8.5/10.

Mike: IZ DAT SUM MOBILE SUIT? 3-D, nice angle, I just wish I could see the one giant glowing eye. Otherwise, nice 9.5/10 there, man.

Proto Man: Well... I made it, after all, so I can't really grade you down that badly for any problems. It's Proto Man, the single most awesomest character from the Mega Man series ever, and from the cartoon series to boot, which I am of course a rabid fan of. Some of the lines look a little jaggy, but overall... yeah, I can't really give this anything short of a 9/10.

Super Fighting Robot Mega Man: This is excellent. The expression is determined, the border's a nice touch, and I don't see much jaggedness. Overall, you net yourself a 9.6 out of 10, my friend!

Mike:
Nice Big Daddy avatar.
It's Bioshock, which means it automatically gets extra credit.

9.8/10

It's just a nicer version of your PCF avatar, Paul, but it's still nice. As large as it is, I think a border would do it some good, especially given the light blue of the background. But the picture's nice, the perspective on the gun is cool, so I'll give you a solid 8 out of 10.
Make it so.

Evan: Well, it's a funny expression, and it certainly suits you, but it REALLY doesn't go with the rest of the theme. Given that I'm so anal-retentive about such things, 6/10 is the best I can offer.

Burt: Haruhi? Seriously? You never caught me as the type to watch a show like Ouran. 9/10
Finale: Despite the mainstream public belief, Speed Racer was a kick ass movie. 10/10

Yes actually. Watched it in my college's Anime Club and just finished it up here at home. Despite it being a shojo anime, it's got enough humor and a guy-oriented 'straight' character (none of that was a sexual innuendo, actually) that it made seeing the girly scene tolerable if not enjoyable. It's the contrast and actual plot and character development that got me hooked (you know, unlike other girl animes WHICH HAVE NONE).

Also, 9/10 for your avatar because of awesome.

I heard Ouran High School Host Club! I think I left off somewhere between Episodes 12 and 14. Then the source changed, and I couldn't bring myself to watch it with Korean Dub, as I enjoyed the Japanese Dub too much. I really want to finish the show T_T. I found it to have a great deal of humor that people of any gender can get a kick out of.

Anyway, I think that Domon is in need of rating here, and because it's a moving Domon Pic, 10/10

And yes, I dropped the Korben Dallas theme.

Snake: It's Char Aznable, and while I may personally prefer Zechs Marquise (at least in terms of costume design), I'm fully aware that he's nothing more than a cheap replacement for the real thing. I really think you should've switched the images you used for the avatar and the sig. It works as is, just not as well as it could. 7/10.

Eureka Seven (or is it Elrecka?) is great material for an avatar, and of its mecha, none is more fearsome than the typeTheEND. Extra points for just-offscreen perspective... 9/10

7/10

Wingnut: Awesome looking robot. Don't know where it's from, but who cares, it looks like it kicks historic amounts of ass. The only thing that would make it better would be a border. 9/10.

He's some brawny fellow with a blazing weapon of hurty killness. His strange hair and steely glance make me a tad nervous. 8/10.

And yes, for old time's sake, I brought back good ol' Lumine. Fruity plastic ragdoll that he is.
