Just Cause 2.
did any of you guys ever play Mercenaries 2? Where they drop you into a whole country (a pretend Venezuela in that game) and pretty much say "go blow everything up." It was awesome for about 10 minutes until you realize it was a horrible, buggy mess. Well this game is kind of like that but actually...good. You're dropped onto an island nation by "The Agency" to destabilize the government by blowing everything the hell up.
Except this time it works.

Mercenaries 1 wasn't buggy..or the ps2 one didn't have any significant problems I can recall.

Assassin's Creed II: Brotherhood Multiplayer
Yeah, it sucks. Played about 3 matches and found it to be beyond mediocre.

On Sunday, I decided to put some honest effort into Guitar Hero Legends DS-Easy Mode-Rhythm Guitar:
Failed, and then got 83% on Foo Fighter's "Pretender" Failed, and then got 76% on Paramore's "CrushCrushCrush"
Then my 18-month old niece stopped over while I was playing, and wanted to play one of the games, so I was put in Lego Batman, and she ran the direction buttons. Funny... She actually knows how to open and close the DS, but then I was worried she would break the hinge, or crack one of the screens (even though she wasn't handling it roughly), so I "made it disappear" when she was distracted.
Later, I teamed up with one of my brother-in-laws for some Wii version House of the Dead 2 & 3. Then both my nieces stopped over (including the 18-month old), and the 18-month old one wanted to play the videogame, so we handed her an uncharged Wii controller, and she happily "played along". No, the zombies didn't scare her one bit, but then she's pretty fearless for a toddler...
Early Black Friday, before heading out into the fray, my brother-in-law that own the Wii showed me the Tranformers War for Cybertron on his XBox. (Yeah, he's got all the toys...) Awesome, even at $40 bucks. I think I'll just have to pick it up.
I also got into a few more Atari 2600 titles last night. Funny how FPS can quicken your reflexes for the old games... Also, even then, Activision was king!

Alternating between x-com and counterstrike: source
Which is a fun dichotomy. (I just gave up on trying to get the freeware, quake 2 based ufo: alien invasion to want to work on this laptop. And I haven't tried any games on my newer, windows 7, spiffier laptop I got for classes and whatnot, just sitting in a backpack over the break. Which is maybe good, timesink and whatnot)

MAG (PS3)
Playing on Valor aka the super n00b team and boy does it show. Nearly every match I play on Valor we either own or get owned, there really is no middle ground with Valor. Not to mention maybe 2-3 people use a Mic at a given time, which makes team work and tactics somewhat hard.
Now compared to Raven and most definitely S.V.E.R, all of which show signs of great coordination and tactic, Valor certainly lives up to the reputation of the "N00b Faction".

Playing Dragon Quest IX and Kirby something or other.
To many internet jokes in a DQ game for my taste.

Been trying to find a decent FPS for Linux with a single-player campaign. I've got Enemy Territory installed, but every time I try to join a map, it's either empty or I get banned.
For what I've actually been playing, Tetris DS and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.

Duke Nukem 3D. Bought it from the 3D Realms site for six bucks.
Took a bit of fiddling to get DOSBox to run just like I wanted (managed to finally get it to run at the native resolution of 320x200 without any nasty scaling), but it's totally worth it.
This being the Atomic Edition, they have that extra campaign "The Birth", which having played through it is a total sham. The image of the pregnant babe being tormented by aliens at the opening is never elaborated on, and the final boss is bland.
Although I thought the ending to Shrapnel City was pretty lousy, too, but at least the boss was cool. Not to mention hard as fuck (or would have been if I hadn't been cheating so hard).

Anything on sourceforge.net? I think that's where I found the '96K of pwnage" .kkrieger... My niece lost most her Leapster games, so my sister & brother-in-law got her a DS for Christmas, and we each got her games. However, she got frustrated while playing. So, I got an idea. I walked over to the kitchen with my DS & Namco Museum, and found her and my other brother-in-law (her favorite uncle, since he brings her Marvel & DC stuff) both playing games on their DSs. She's getting frustrated again, and he's trying to talk to her about patience, perseverance, and good sportsmanship - as much as you can talk about them to a kid. That's when I sit down and say "Tonight, I'm going to lose every game", and then proceed to die at Galaxian, Zaxxon, Galaga, and Dig Dug II. I announce each time I've lost, and then say, hey look I'm still breathing, I still have a pulse, and I still have all my fingers & toes. They're just games, that's all... If nothing else, at least I got her to smile... For the record, though, later on, I did play B-17 DS to win, and did well on Mission 1. I'm still trying to beat Mission 2, but that was during NHL Winter Classic intermissions...
