Pokemon Emerald. I just restarted again. I want a fucking female treecko dammit. Damn the male to female ratio. It's 85 to 15. How the hell do they breed!?

Any of you guys play fighting games?
I'm a little more than obsessive about them. Right now I'm working on Blazblue: CS... but when Marvel vs Capcom 3 comes out I'll be on that... and then when Super Street Fighter 4 releases its update patch, I'll be back to that... not to mention the Xbox release of Street Fighter 3, SF vs Tekken, and who knows what else. I also have a longing to brush up on my Soul Calibur 4 and DoA skills too, if there was time for it.
I'm so glad the genre as been revived in the past couple of years. Between 1998 and 2008 things were pretty bleak.

I used to play Soul Caliber. But it just got fucked up in the 3rd title. Seriously, siege strategy? Why am I not just smashing some dude in the face with a sword already?
Also I had a huge win moment today. I CAUGHT A SHINY RATATTA! And it's 100% legit. I found it while looking for a ditto to breed my Feraligator, but found a female shiny ratatta instead. Best gaming day ever.

Anything on sourceforge.net? I think that's where I found the '96K of pwnage" .kkrieger... I believe I tried playing that back when I ran Windows, but never took the time to figure out Cygwin. I'll probably see if I can find anything interesting on the site once I get back up to college. For fighting games, I prefer stuff like Guilty Gear of Dead or Alive, but I have played some SNK vs. Capcom. Also: LOL@postcount

Forgot to mention Phoenix Wright: Justice for All; finally finished Maya's case.
And the only download I could find of .kkrieger was a Windows executable, so I'm not sure how that would run on Linux.

That was a special mode in Soul calibur 3. You didn't have to play it. Everyone I meet is like "it stopped being good at SC2," but I think they're just being nostalgic and never really tried the other games. SC3 and 4 were pretty awesome, especially 4. And I have a few shiny pokemon. I have a Golbat, Beedrill (Got from a trade), Zigzagoon (got from a Gamestop promotion), Rhydon, used to have a shiny Banette (I rose him to level 100 and then lost the cartridge...), and a Gallade (Rose to level 100, even though he's got crappy speed). I also have shiny versions of the Diamond and Pearl legendaries (Forget their names). They're obviously hacked. When I was playing Pearl version a lot I would just put up ridiculous trades like "I want a legendary for a Gloom." Whenever I turned on my game, I would have a new legendary. I have around 30 of them and most look hacked or cloned. A lot of them are shiny.

Yeah. A lot of legends are hacks. I don't hack mine however. If their shiny when I meet 'me then their shiny. I don't really care though. Shiny pokemon can never have max stats, contrary to popular belief, so it's just easier to catch 'em normal and us lots of stat raisers.
And I tried playing 3 and 4. I owned both of them at one point. I played it for a bit and would get bored. It just didn't represent the challenge it used to. 3 was way too easy. I beasted through the game as Ivy in under 4 hours, on hard mode. I didn't even upgrade my equipment or anything. I made my own character and beasted through it on normal with her.
4 just bored me however. I tired to play it, but I was like "I've been playing this same game with different characters since I had my gamecube. Why do I play this again?"
But nto the subject of what I am playing. Soul Silver. I found someone willing to trade a bulbasaur for a totodile. One step closer to completing the pokedex.

Because it has online. If you're not big on fighting games, it's always going to feel the same. But if you play competitively and get really serious about your character, a punch being slightly faster is a HUGE difference.

The ironic thing about Yuko's post was that after criticizing Street Fighter, she immediately revealed her love of Pokémon, which is about as similar between titles.

You missed the point. I'm not saying Street Fighter and Pokémon are directly similar. I'm saying that both franchises don't change much between one game and the next. So your criticism of Street Fighter was hypocritical. Don't take it seriously, though! I was just poking fun.
But yeah as my fighting games thread should imply, I don't really get fighting games. One review/design website says they're all about momentum, area denial, and psychological warfare.

Yeah, and a new study says that video games cause depression.
Then again, everything does according to one study or another.
And when this got discussed at work, someone chimed in "Yeah, even gravity is depressing."
