But yeah as my fighting games thread should imply, I don't really get fighting games. One review/design website says they're all about momentum, area denial, and psychological warfare.

Well all that depends on the game/character. Think of fighting games as a chess match with some rock paper scissors thrown in. They just look like button mashing until you understand what the players are doing and why.

They're filled with situations like "he knows that I know I'm going to go for the uppercut... but does he know I know he knows?" or "I need to time this kick just right so that it looks like I made a mistake... but then I'll recover before he can hit me and he'll throw out a bad move." There's more tricks and fake outs than in other games, since pretty much every second is about trying to predict the opponent's next move and come up with your own counter.

Neverwinter Nights (PC)

Back when Bioware made actual RPG's and not Shooters with stats and weapons/armor. Not that I'm saying Mass Effect is a bad game, but I'd hardly call it an RPG.

And when this got discussed at work, someone chimed in "Yeah, even gravity is depressing."

Yeah, how am I supposed to work on my jump shot when my fall keeps accelerating at 9.81 m/s/s?

XD Nice! Most people would not take the intellectual route of the rate of acceleration...
I suddenly miss doing equations in which the answer will be in something like m/s/s

And much less corny than the obvious response of "Yeah, it's always keeping me down."

Also, I started playing Oblivion again. I have all of the achievements, I'm just...well..There's a couple of things I haven't done yet, like a few dungeon dives, had to hit up the last two add ons that I got yesterday, and commit total genocide to Cyrodill. I figure, when I've run out of quests, I don't need most of the people alive. The ones I can't kill, will just fall unconscious or be replaced by other people (like Guards...will be replaced by guards...) but I figure I can kill about 90% of the population, leaving...people that are relevant to some quest or another...that I've already done but they're programmed to not die, ever.

Hey Garma, do you read me? Blame this on the misfortune of your birth...nothing personal.

Modern Warfare on the Wii is one of the worst intentional gaming experiences you can have.

That's what sucks about Oblivion... it is so close to a completely persistent world, but then you reach that door or cave entrance, and the Universe pauses, and you're transferred to some other zone.

If you commit a genocide on the town, then the game's response should not be to respawn guards. It should be for Oblivion and its servants to embrace you, and for a royal army to embark on your position.

Birth By Sleep. Hell yeah, almost halfway through Ventus story. Next is Terra.

On a side note I played Doom for the GBA today. Why was this game considered top notch again?

Yuko wouldn't be that sophisticated.

I STILL play Doom.

Side note: The game was intended to be played with a pistol start at every single level. Carmack admitted it was a massive oversight, not taking away players' weapons between levels.

Playing with pistol start is like playing a whole new Doom.

was never much into shooters. I didn't even finish the first level of Doom. I just rage killed some weird alien looking things, and ran around for a bit wondering WTF I was supposed to be doing. Shooting aliens I get, but what else was I supposed to do? Doom could've helped itself by running without lag of course. But it was overy slow for a GBA game.

I've always preferred a story line to just flat out shooting things in the face. Thus why I like Kingdom Hearts. BBS is no where near as sap riddled as the first two. And no stupid lines like "Who will I share ice cream with if your gone?". Seriously, when your best friend is dying come up with a better excuse for them to live then that.

Isa is cool though. For a guy that becomes a raging psycho in the future he seems like a nice kid. How do people becoming psychos again? Not enough love or something like that?
Also bigger worlds to explore/ better story helps this game. the level up system for skills isn't bad either. I want to see it in future KH or FF games.

And here I thought playing Doom didn't require many brain cells...

A common cause of psychosis in anime and j-RPGs is poor or uncreative writing.
