Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)

One word: Amazing.

Makes me proud to be a PS3 owner. Very fun, and has some amazing music.

Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)

Want it want it want it want it.

Cool. I stumbled across it one day and was blown away. I'm glad someone else found it.

After seeing this game, it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I've resolved to save up for a PS3.

Awesome, it's a game well worth the purchase and one of the reasons I bough a PS3, and with White Knight Chronicles coming out in Japan soon, being a PS3 owner is looking better and better. Also SEGA did good with the voice acting but if I hear Vic, I'm gonna take a bat to casting director.

I'm still playing Kingdom Hearts II. I decided to just start over and replay it.

I want to play the first one though, but my PS2 is so old it won't play any of my games from years ago. :(

Fallout 3 (PS3)

I beat the game a few days ago and have to say, I expected better but even better, the butthurt fan boys are already making mods to "make it like a true fallout game" nonsense.

Fallout Tactics

After beating Fo3, it's funny, 3 actually has more in common with Tactics that the first two. Shame FOT 2 was canned. Also, woot 400 posts!

Left 4 Dead Demo

This is definitely a Valve game.

By Valve game I mean they take a relatively simple concept then test, tweak, and refine it to death until it's perfect.

It doesn't do much in the way of innovation but what it does do it does exceptionally well. You would definitely be hard pressed to find a multi-player zombie survival game as well balanced and fine tuned as Left 4 Dead. They've obviously playtested the heck out of this thing because they seem to have anticipated just about every possible thing you can do in the game and built the game around accordingly.

The AI director really does seem to mix things up enough that you can play the same map over many times and not have the exact same experience twice. All the boss zombies in the game seem specifically designed to really throw a wrench into the works and the AI can send them your way whenever it feels like it.

The pacing is really good with randomely spaced moments of silent tension and all out fighting. In that regard the AI occasionally likes to fake you out and pull off a scare. One time we cleared the subway station of zombies and were just looking around for first aid when one of us wandered off a bit too far and a smoker comes out of nowhere, grabs him, and dragged him away up the stairs. Since he was a bit far away from us it was quite a mad dash to get to him before he got strangled to death. This was actually our seventh time through the same level and the fact that the game still had plenty of tricks up its sleeve after so many playthroughs is impressive to say the least.

Last Remnant (360)

Square Enix's fist time using the Unreal Engine, and you can sure tell. The game is loaded with visuals problems such as poor textures, and many other problems, I hope the PS3 version fare better.

That's ironic. I thought the Unreal Engine was almost state-of-the-art.

Also, what's this "union-based RPG" business all about?

The Unreal Engine can be amazing but it takes a lot of work to make it stand out from the rest of the games that use the engine. It might be SE first time using it, but I'm also caulking it up to laziness and rushing the game out.

It's nothing special and over hyped SE nonsense. Instead of one party, you can have around 5-6 and each party is made up of 1-5 members, and you do standard JRPG stuff. It's not as great as it was hyped to be, but it has it's moments.
