Fallout 3 (PS3)

Still trying to figure out why the Brotherhood of Steel are such canon fodder in this game, I mean seriously, they get owned by raiders with a 10mm pistols, way to fail Bethesda.
And the scary, indestructible Enclave soldiers get easily decapitated by me with a shotgun built out of garbage and a 200 year old PPSSh.

Fallout 3 (PS3) Still...

Yeah, I noticed the Enclave get owned just as badly. It's a riot when they get beat down by Raiders armed with pool cue's, although it doesn't help that Bethesda made Power Armor worthless. I can't wait for the lulz that FO4 will bring.

I'm playing many things, Final Fantasy IX, NHL 07, Need for Speed Carbon, Die Hard Trilogy

But I would specifically like to mention Armored Core 4 Answer on 360.

This game, I got it the day after Thanksgiving, and before the following Monday had run through the game three times and getting two of the storylines. However, there is a part that is troubling me. The third ending. You end up taking 4 ACs at once. I'm pretty good 1 vs 1, but not 4 vs 1. I have all of the store parts and have thrown everything that I thought would work at this mission, but am still at a loss. If anyone has played this game and gotten the third ending, would they mind sharing how they did it?

All I know is that when I get my PS3, AC4 is on my list of games-to-get.

What do you think of FFIX? Most people hate on it.

FFIX is one of my favorites, actually.

And AC4 was good as well, but the newest one, the one giving me trouble, is AC4A (Armored Core 4 Answer), which takes place after AC4. The controls are the same, with one added feature that when you have certain Over Boosters equipped...or was it the generator...anyway, some part...your Primal Armor becomes Attack Armor, which is lethal even to an AC with almost full health, but it only works at an extremely close range and only if your Primal Armor is active.

But like I said, fighting 4 ACs that are attacking you all at once from all angles is no easy task. If you were getting it for the 360, I would challenge you to a 1v1 match online sometime.

It's Half-Life 2, two of its "Episodes" (basically expansion packs, but they rule), Portal, which is AMAZING and the multiplayer-only Team Fortress 2. TF2 is awesome, but I suck at it really bad. I stick to Left 4 Dead for my sourcey online goodness.

Man, the Ivalice setting use to be awesome before it was corrupted by FFT: Advance, and FFT: Advance 2 with all it's failure.

Check out Demon's Souls as well R.Dan. It's a Japanese take on Western RPG's, and it looks damn awesome. Does so many things that Oblivion should have done. Should be a good bit of info floating around.

Okay, will do.

Yeah, 1v1 would be awesome. Back at home, I tried to get my friends interested in 1v1, but that was back in the day of AC2 when multiplayer was cumbersome and rudimentary.

Looks like it won't come to pass between us, either. Though it's interesting to note that many games, including AC4 and its expansion, run better on XBox than on PS3. It's just that PS3 has more of the games that I want to play.

Now this is sort of swerving off the topic, but I'm curious, what type of Core do you tend to favor?

Such is the curse of Multi Platform games on the PS3, they more often than not do look slightly better on the 360, however, with PS3 exclusives such as Killzone 2, the PS3 shows it true power.

That mission still giving me problems on AC4A...

Aside from that, I've been playing Dead Rising. One Guy, over 52,000 zombies, a mall, and almost everything is a weapon? How can you go wrong?

___________________________

Well, in the classic AC style, a lacking ability to dodge led me to building tank units that usually included wielding a Bazooka in one arm and a Howitzer in the other, with the Extension to disable my enemy's Lock-On.

However, the new control setup for AC4 and AC4A (Also referred to as Armored Core For Answer on the front of the box, but everything else says 4Answer) has a Quick Boost ability, making dodging not only feasible, but easy for most AC pilots. And do utilize fine tuning and stabilizers. But, back to the question, considering this new ability to dodge, I ditched the tank design and usually use a Medium Biped unit that comes from a hodgepodge of Corporations to optimize Speed, Maneuverability, and AP. The weaponry varies on the mission, from a laser-plasma combo to full-out chainguns. One such AC, Rapidfire, wields two machine guns and both back weapons are chainguns. I later altered Rapidfire into Gatlingfire, and made it into a tank unit (in the new control system is the ability to "skate" your AC, and you can skate tanks as well) that has one Gatling Gun on each arm and one on each shoulder.

I also have a medium-light unit known as Reaper that has several weapon variants. The first one had a Machine Gun and a high-impact Kojima blade that was devastating at close range. The second has two of these Kojima Blades, but the blades are not a fan of using a Lock-On, making it hard to hit a target without the Proper FCS equipped. The third Reaper unit has two Moonblades, and an FCS specifically designed for blade use. All of these Reaper units and some of my other unit variants have added side boosters for extra sideways dodging ability for the quick boost and an extra back booster for the back equipment for an added forward thrust and quick boost.

I do have other units I threw together, but they aren't readily in my memory.

Once you get AC4A and you get to the "Defeat Stigro" Mission, my suggestion is to make a gatling-based AC, start the mission, don't move and let Stigro come to you. As it gets closer, open fire and just let the bullets fly. Stigro is large enough that you can actually shoot before it is in range and still hit it. You will, however, have to thrust vertically as you are firing and Stigro gets closer, but in all actuality, if done correctly, Stigro will be destroyed before it even gets all the way to you and you will have an easy S.

Fans of Mobile Suit Gundam will recognize that, besides the name, the design of the Stigro shows much tribute to the Principality of Zeon. The name, I refer to the space unit Bygro, and its appearance reminded me somewhat of the Big Zam, as did the weaponry.
Here is an interesting article about AC4A, and i must say that I would rather have that cover. Also, there is an artist sketch of Stigro that can be clicked on for enlargement purposes. When you first see it, you are doing a mission...I think for Interior Union...you are just destroying everything and I was wondering who took tech from Zeon. Then actually fighting it later on and it comes at you head on...

Your asking my Core preference wasn't really off topic, it is Video Game related, my slight Gundam tangent however, was.

Very very interesting. Thanks for the article.

Your mention of differing FCS systems and these powerful extensions really has me impressed. It sounds much deeper and more balanced than AC3.

Heh, as for your preference, I was hoping you would say tank or biped. I wanted to remain different, and so I have.

I don't know if AC4 has it, but my favorite for arena matches was always the hover body. I never went all-out sheer firepower like you, because it doesn't sit well with me, and it often didn't work. My favorite was to give my AC a (preferably energy-type) machine gun, zoom around all over the place, back forth, up and down, hold down the trigger and ride the hover body like a magic carpet. And then set up mines and draw the enemy into them. No shoulder-weapons except for ammo extensions... or quick-turn boosters. If AC4 has it, I would also equip a heat-pistol like they had in AC2 as the secondary... try shooting your lasers then! Probably my core would lack the firepower to take down the heavy tank-types, so I'd need to equip a blade instead. But generally my tactic is to be like a guerrilla mosquito. Make you flinch and overheat. Make you look all around to track me. Dodging missiles and fire is fun!

Does AC4 have the parts necessary for that style?
