So I just got some good things.
Seeing as Microsoft is dropping the zune, and I love my zune, I decided to get a $6 lego looking mp3 player. If it breaks it won't matter as much. Keeping my zune at home so it won't break hopefully.
Got an R4i card for about $20 a few weeks ago. Homebrew is free and legal, and seeing as I have to game on a budget that's a good thing.

My mom gave me Dead Rising chop till you drop. I cleaned the house without slacking off for a whole week straight. So she was like "here's the zombie game you really wanted". I love the katana.

Hi everybody, how's it... Yeah, I did appear to fall off the earth for a time there... It all started with a visit from my inlaws, and then Summer kicked in gear.
Hope everyone else survived doomsday May 21st. Wait...the last reply was on May 19th... Hmmmm... Huh

Yeah, I haven't really spent much on fun stuff either. I got more kit-bashing supplies: non-drying clay & dual-syringe epoxy - with some oil paint from my parents' house (that is, when they're home & not busy), I can start on one project. I also got the Clone Wars animated movie from a used book store. (I think it's special edition, too. Oooo. Nice...) I used some gift cards to get discounts on both TRON movies. Me and the Mrs. also burned some M & M's movie cash, and minimal real cash on Hangover 2. If I can scrape a few brain cells back together, I'll post a comment in the movie thread.

So I FINALLY GOT A 3DS! Woot. I saved up for 3 months and found one used on ebay. The person selling said it was used, but is was brand new in box and everything, and it had free accessories. I is so happy.

It is good to see some signs of life on this forum.  When I saw the latest entries I was afraid it had been hacked and was about to go the way of SBO.

The Hangover Pt.2 was pretty ridiculous. I've never heard of getting a DS overclocked.

Last purchase... Pizza Now & 2L of Mtn Dew. I think my last interesting purchase was a 160 GB WD External Hard Drive.

Lol. You can overclock your DS, but I'm talking about a game. Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked. It's a remake with more to the story, more music, some 3d effects and more monsters to tame.

Yeah, Hangover Pt.2 overdid it a little. I went to see the new X-Men movie this weekend, and got a large Mountain Dew so I wouldn't be coughing during the whole movie. I was feeling a little under the weather last week...

Nice find, Yuko! I'm still playing around with the same 2D DS, when I can. I suppose if you could tweak the MHz, or up the volts on the CPU/GPU a little, it could be overclocked. However, even with PC's you need access to those motherboard parameters (whether they're advertised or secret options).

I used to have a 9600XT-based graphics card with "overdrive". I had to flash update the ROM to enable it, because the factory flash didn't have it (though the ATi factory boards did). In overdrive, coupled with a 1.2 AMD Thunderbird, 512K 133MHz SDRAM, and a 7200 Seagate ATA/100, Doom III was very playable (cinematics were low FPS though).

The X-Men ticket is my most interesting purchase so far this month, since my only other purchases are deodorant, bathroom sink washers (there are several in my toolbox, but no "0" flat ones), and lunch at Jerome Bettis Grille 36 (named after the TV announcer and former Pittsburgh Steeler). Yeah, the external Hard Drives are pretty reasonable now, so I might get one, too.

We also got some free stuff this weekend, from supporters of the Walk for Autism, and my wife got a free T-shirt, since she reached the minimum donation goal.

I bought the LoL box thingy...not for the disk, but for the code that came with all the stuff.

A game makes much more sense. I've never overclocked myself. Always seemed like too much trouble and risk for a little gain.

Free stuff is always good. Even better when you get it for a good cause.

A game makes much more sense. I've never overclocked myself. Always seemed like too much trouble and risk for a little gain.

It was a real challenge to create a PC configuration that kept CPU/memory/components running above the posted specs., but still within engineering tolerances (which were sometimes encoded, or sometimes unpublished). However, overclocking provided huge performance gains for some people, and I think they liked the challenge. Yeah, I remember my one tech-savy friend attaching a small kitchen-cooling type fan (and air filtering material!) over a large self-cut side-hole in his case, to get more speed from his K6/2. I think he went from like 500Mhz to 600Mhz, which was pretty good for the mid 90's - the early years of overclocking.

However, I never thought of overclocking my 1200/266 Thunderbird in 2001, because that was already pretty fast (faster than the 1200/200's, and fast enough to run Doom III w/a 9600XT, which recommended using 1.5 Pentium 4). I mean, I still had inlet & exhaust fans, and a nice CPU cooler fan (w/"Arctic Silver" paste), but that was just to run a cool system. Before my 9600XT, case temp was room temperature. With my 9600XT, it was 77-80 degrees. I only had standard SDRAM, too. I do remember the ABIT motherboard having overclock parameters, though (it was a nice board).

Overclocking was usually a safe venture as long as you respected engineering tolerances. Believe it or not, the 9600XT overdrive mode was actually manufacturer- and ATi-approved overclocking, due to sensors on the card automatically controlling the overclock. The card would "throttle" the GPU at whatever speed would keep the temperature sensors happy.

Except for the T-shirt, the rest was food this time. Not many company booths at the walk this year, but those there were very generous, and the turnout for the event was huge. My wife and I were really proud of our city.
