...it feels good to be back to Paradigm City.

« on: December 16, 2008, 03:22:13 AM »

Hey there everyone, been a long time since Ive posted on this new server. I was a regular before on the old paradigm city boards. I have long been a fan of Big O ever since it premiered in America and still pop in the DVDs when I get a chance. I have long wanted to establish a jazz cafe to honor Cowboy Bebop in a way but also make an up-class Piano Bar to commemorate and honor Big O, even though most people that would walk in might not know what its all about. My question to all the Big O fans out there is what would you want to see if you walked into a replica of the SpeakEasy in Big O?

Speakeasy bar.  What a concept!   Great way to keep the series alive.

What would I like to see?   Series cells, manga scenes, music from the series.  Good fan art/ fiction, amvs.  Fan art and fiction would be relatively easy to come by.  Hold competitions.  The prizes would be simple.  Enshrine the best works on the walls of the Speakeasy for eterntity or at least until the next competition.

What else?  Headquarters for the Season 3 movement

I think a general layout would be necessary for this replica.  On the right as you enter is an ornate wooden bar section (stools) with backshelves. Directly in the back is a row of 2-seat tables, one of which is reserved at all times for Big Ear (either that or has a newspaper on it).

To the left as you walk is separate from the seating area are two pool tables.

An absolute must are etched glass front doors saying "SPEAKEASY".

If you really want to either confuse people or impress the Big O Fans, have two or three back meeting rooms, one of which actually misleads people into the Amadeus "quiet bar", which is a drinking room with piano an a much more refined and calm ambience. Possibly a room reserved for being rented out for social events rather than just a different bar.

Haha....that would be a sight to see..Roger Smith as you walked into the bar...I would definitely put in the rules though, that you have to wear black inside the bar and only suits allowed...no jeans or casual wear....thats just a given....

I liked the other idea a lot though, having a separate area for a different ambiance.. that would definitely go along with an Amadeus type of feel to it....I would hang up professionally drawn artwork/manga on the walls if it were up to me...still looking into the idea of making this dream a reality..

Fan art on the walls and contests could easily detract from a normal customer base.

Also: It'd make the place look less like it did in the series.

That said, the Amadeus Lounge in back sounds awesome.
