While I was never a big fan of his, he died at 47, which is pretty shocking.

46, apparently. Based on the message posted to his website on his behalf after his passing, it sounds like MADHOUSE will likely continue production on his last film.

wow, seems like tons of celebs are dieing these days.

And I liked Paranoia Agent. I thought that series needed a little more explaining, but it was a good anime.

The article mentions he worked on Roujin Z. Damn it, I've had that DVD sitting on the shelf-- not two feet away from me as I type this-- and I never watched it in the seven years or more I've had it. Now I feel bad. I'll have to watch it soon.

I've got sigs turned off. Sorry, Dan, but it wasn't just yours. It just makes the boards look so much tidier.

Looks like he only did the art design, but wow, hard to believe I missed that the first time I watched that.

His last blog post was translated a few days ago.

It was really hard for me to read, and I pretty much sat and cried like a sissy the whole way through.  It's so hard to read the regrets of a dying person, to know that they saw their illness as the most disrespectful thing they could do to their peers and family, as if there was anything he could do to help it.  I greatly respected his work and am very sad to know that I'll never get to see what he would do in the future.  I think the loss of potential is more sad than if he'd had a full long life and a large body of work.

I've seen a quote going around from a blogger on Twitter who said, "It's not that anime will never be the same with Satoshi Kon gone. It's now much more likely that anime will always be the same."

I think it is safe to say that this has not been a good year for Anime fans. First veteran voice director and Anime pioneer Carl Mack, Peter 'Speed Racer' Fernandez, Satoshi Kon and master puppeteer Kihachiro Kawamoto who died just a few days after Kon.

"Paprika" is one of my 5 favourite animated movies. I'll never stop thanking and blessing him for doing it, wherever he's now. Cry

At least we know that when Anno dies, he will have dissolved into a puddle of LCL, and be connected to Rei Ayanami at the groin for all eternity in swirlyland.

Paranoia Agent was neat yeah.

Having recently started re-watching twin peaks, I'm still pretty convinced that thing with the cherry stem in like, the first episode of paranoia agent was definately supposed to be a reference

They'll find him surrounded by half empty bottles of zoloft, in a pool filled with money gouged from cretins who like to watch the exact same thing regurgitated once every other year, and anyway it was just one cliche nested inside another, and given a veneer of freudianism and completely unrelated religious symbolism.

Oh man I am just LOVING your hatred for all things Evangelion. I happen to like that series, derpaderps.

You're completely right, but it's not like I can change my feelings for Eva. It'd be like denying myself Big O YEAH I WENT THERE.

"But but Sharp! It's one of the greatest shows of all and it's totally deep and meaningful!" Yeah, I never really got the appeal of Eva. The mecha action is neat, but that's pretty much it. The religious imagery was more or less shock value.
