I know you always picked University. Don't lie--you did. It's the logical choice.

Unless you're going to say you picked Spartans and decided to nerve gas/gene warfare everyone into submission. Cuz that's friggin BEAST, man! High five.

If anyone still has the disc or cares to download it on the sly, I would like to do multiplayer!

Your post reeks of pure awesome, but alas, it is lost on me as well. Enlighten us, posthaste.

Well, I'm pretty certain it's a game we're talking about. I just don't know which one.

This should explain most of it. It's part of the Civilization family of games.

I'm addicted. I got a day off of work yesterday and I spent nine consecutive hours playing it, without realizing the time until it was 3 AM. Played through a full 500 turn cycle. Then I uninstalled it. Again. It's that bad.

Google, dude. Or go to the fourth chan and download it wholesale. Basically, you and six other human factions colonize an alien world. There's diplomacy, exploration, nation-building, espionage, backstabbing, and massive wars. You have 500 years (turns) to either die or bring history to a decisive conclusion.

Speak not to me of Google! I use BING!!1

...although I still browse with Chrome.

But yes, this "Chan Number IV" we speak of, it, shall I be looking at.

EDIT:

*five minutes later*

NO I WON'T NO I WON'T NO I WON'T AAAGGHHHH MUST BOIL EYES IN VINEGAR

...okay, back to Bing I go.

It really sounds like fun -- kind of like a political SimCity on steroids -- but with my workload these days, I'd better be careful.

This is true. Workload is important.

Why are you shielding your eyes? If you just go straight to /rs/ rapidshare and search Alpha Centauri, it should be among the first few results. There are no pictures there.

Anyway, yeah, it's awesome. I don't know how multiplayer works for this game, but if it does work, then I'd love to go at it with an actual human competitor. Additionally, being restricted to playing when both parties are available would cut down the potential time-wasting.

As Wingnut's post demonstrated, even playing singleplayer, the game is so rich that many playthroughs can create a structured story. I remember two epic struggles I overcame in Alpha-Centauri, with unexpected twists.

Except that

Except that's not where I went.

Don't ask anymore.

Okay, I shall seriously go find it now.

I recently remembered something that was nagging me:

How, where did you find this? I actually spent the time to read the Gaian section about two weeks ago. It's a gem.

It just happened to be in the Archive for that site that I found while looking at a different game in the index. (I think it was God Hand.) I was browsing through the various games and eventually decided to check that one out.
