Aren't 2D fighting games just an advanced form of rock-paper-scissors? Prove me wrong.

Potential Skills:

- Reading your opponent's play style (how much and when he favors the rocks, the papers and the scissors)
- Judging distances
- Manual dexterity (button combo sequences)

I can attest to this theory in action.

The exception being when anybody plays (to use a SoulCalibur example) Nightmare/Astaroth or their equivalent. Then you can just spam scissors-scissors-scissors-etc. until your opponent stops moving. I used to clean up as Siegfried just smashing his Attack Throw (the one where he impales his opponent and hurls them backwards over his head) and praying the opponent went out of the ring, repeating as needed. Sort of like playing Rock-Paper-Scissors-Zweihander.

I suck at fighting games, by the way.

Honestly I find most fighting games to just be button mash-a-thons. Unless your playing with friends and both agree not to spazz out, I avoid fighting games for the most part.

If only I could find that street fighter pick.
It's a chart showing how to get Ryu to play Beethoven's 5th. But it involves 10ish lines of code. It's fake, but it's funny.

Only fighting game worth it's salt was The Justice League Rampage for the SNES. That was the best damn fighting game I ever owned.
