I picked up on this show on a whim for about 35 bucks on Bluray for all 26 episodes, and was greatly surprised. I really enjoyed the hell outta this show. However, it's not without a few flaws. It starts off slow and tends to drag at times (common practice for anime these days it seems), a few weak performance in the dub (but it's certainly one of Funimations better ones), and the animation is pretty lazy in spots. I'd recommend it.

Been thinking about ordering Shigure and Trinity Blood on Bluray.

First reaction: unexpected delight.

Second reaction: impatience.

Current reaction: tempered optimism.

The first episode was delightful, with great characterization and an intriguing alien society (with overtones of Greek mythology). Then they just HAD to introduce the space bugs. Why can't humanity ever just nuke them? Never makes any sense to me. We send off our vastly outnumbered titan suits or atmospheric-shaped fighters, or drone fields... fire our super lasers... but it's never enough, and nobody ever thinks to just lay a minefield of nukes. Nope. So many animes, and always the same space bugs, always the same hopeless battles.

The characterization and society keep me interested... for now. I also like how the show makes certain to establish the scale of the battles every now and then, so they retain at least a little meaning.

Pretty much what I though of the first few episodes. It does drag on towards the middle though, but all and all it's a really fun show. I to loved the Greek mythology themes, hell most of the characters are based of off the story of Hercules and his 12 labors.
