You have no need for me.

So I realize I'm opening up a can of hell here, but I gotta ask.
Do religious people that try to force their religion on other piss the hell outta you?

Well as for me they really do. Now don't get me wrong, I believe in God and all, but I just get so mad when people try to force their religion on others. I couldn't care less about which religion you follow, but I'm sick of seeing people force it down our throats.
What sparked this? A few years ago, when I was 16, I had a crisis of faith. It wasn't as to whether God exists, but why, if all are made in his image, is it wrong to be Bi, Gay, pansexual and all that other stuff. At 15 I discovered I had something for women, then also something for other things (furries (the human types), aliens, monsters, what have you). Then I just started to get angry as people told me it was wrong. So it really pisses me off as some overly religious people say it's wrong to be what you are. What pisses me off more is when they go to places like gamestop and try to convert the workers and shoppers (happened in a gamestop I went into).

So does it make you angry? Do you want to punch these people in the face? Or just tell 'em to get laid already?
Like I said, this will open a can of worms, but I think this can be keep things civil if we try. Lets just not name religions and talk about why it makes you angry.

This threads just gonna be a string of "I had a bad experience with some church"

Meanwhile theres a real problem with evangelical christians/the 'tea party', and need I mention fundamentalist islam which led to 9/11 and now theres fears over if Egypt will become a haven for reactionaries (Now THERES a discussion..but no we'll have a cryfest over religion)

Oh and before you ask I'm a heavily lapsed episcopalian.

Fuck it, commence the madness. Yukos got an issue apparently. (FYI yuko I couldn't give less of a damn who you fuck..except if the alien thing occurred, cause in that hypothetical an extraterrestrial would raise many questions. I mean come on, a damn alien, thats a thing)

Actually this is a stupid thread. It'll just be post after post of us agreeing "Yes, religious zealots are bad"

I wanna discuss the thing she mentioned about aliens from space. That is more interesting

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/science/space/article7107207.ece

This is what Stephen Hawking thinks about a first contact scenario.

Personally? I agree, if you look at our history thats how it pans out, the technologically advanced group subjugates the other one. If a species with faster-than-light travel showed up suddenly I would have concerns.

But the argumet against this is who knows what an alien civilization would be like. Or if we discover extraterrestrial life, it'll just be fungus or something. I have also read an argument that an alien civilization capable of traveling beyond their galaxy would not be warlike, because it would be counteractive to perfecting the technology

Sharp's Article: That's cool. Very thoughtful.

It would be funny if aliens avoided us for the same reason.

I don't like this idea of travelling in massive ships. If you have the technology necessary to build such a ship, then surely, you would have worked out ways to extend your resources and develop alternatives.

Also what's the point of transporting a huge population of messy, biological bodies, when purpose-built machines are so much more efficient? I guess nobody would want to get left behind or excluded in the rush to populate the new planet. Could make an interesting story scenario, though: the remnants pull themselves up by their bootstraps and embark on a cosmic campaign of revenge.

GinTama episode 1

The Amanto, various alien species with advanced technologies, have invaded earth in the 1860s.

Kinda relevant to the alien topic...

So this means, I suppose, that if a Tentacle Monster showed up, Yuko would go right up to it and scream "take me!"

On point to what she was hoping to get at, most religious people piss me off mostly for how they condemn people without waiver, as though they're automatically right. Not to mention all of the people that have died for something as stupid as religion.

Back to the trolling relevancy (that sounds like a catchy title...) ...not everyone could, and this is all in theory, could figure out alternatives. I mean, the build space stations in space, why not build a huge, vacuum sealed ship in space with warp capabilities? It's a similar process, truth be told, yet we don't have alternatives.

Then again, humans are stupid creatures full of greed. Why develop better things when there's more money in keeping the same things?

The concept of a warlike meeting with other beings is based on humanity. I'll put it down like this: Europeans travelled to the Americas, called the technologically inferior natives "savages" and forced them to convert to whatever they wanted or die. They assume that if someone better than them showed up, that it would be the same. "History repeats itself" more or less. Not to mention that the human race sometimes likes to resort to "shoot first ask later" or "catch it like a Pokemon so we can get all sciencey with it." That would be sure to piss someone off.

Lol. I would not walk up to it and say "take me". We would have to go on a few dates first. I'm not a cheap whore, I have standards.

Also yeah that does kinda piss me off too. When their like "hey we be right, even though most of our argument is pure bullshit". And "People must die for what they believe in" crap also made me mad. Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that only religions with a death god have that clause in there, and I know most religions with a death god are actually far more forgiving then religions with only one god. Plus most death gods I've read about do not want you to die for them, they already have enough souls to take care of.

Has to make you wonder right?

It's a tentacle monster. Taking it on a date would be like asking a mind flayer not to eat your brain.

But can't you kill the mind flayers by sneezing at them? or is that just aliens?

That only kills aliens in movies in Invader Zim. Mind flayers require not getting their tentacles attached to you, having a magical helmet, and lots of dice rolling.

Back upon the original subject, anon has released this!
And I must say it is about damn time too.

And of course these dumbfucks apparently have never crossed anon before.

I for one welcome our anonymous overlords.  Grin Cheesy

edit
--------
I just realize some of you might not get what I posted. So here I go.
Dumbfucks is a coloiquel(Dyslexia sucks) term meaning "so dumb they lack brains cells to eat and breath". It's used here to describe overly religious types like WBC.
The internet is for porn, not GOD.
Anonymous will destroy this group in less time then it takes me to cook my special sunny side up eggs with slightly crisped bottoms, with toast and bacon.

I can't find the article, or the specific one..I think it was in rolling stone, that lays out the entirety of the "organization" that is the WBC/fred phelps

Basically theres about 70 of them. In total, it's just the one guys family more or less. The other thing, and this part I might be remembering incorrectly, is out of the 70 a couple of them (or I know fred phelps at least is..or was, got disbarred) are lawyers. So basically you've got a bunch of trolls who keep trying to egg people on hoping they can drag them into a courtroom. Or..like, it's my understanding that thats the end-game of the con. Option two is they're just media whores and the attention sustains them which, occams razor and all.

Theres really nothing there TO destroy. Everybody either is aware of their act, or just goes "Oh its those jackasses with the retarded signs trying to disrupt a military funeral"

Tis true. I'm just sick too all hell of them though. I want to see them go goodbye forever. And I think it's about 150 people in the church.
I don't like the military, but I got respect for those who lose family to war. These people have no respect for anyone, most likely not even themselves.

Here's a hint, because we tend to have problems with Phelps.

If you see the Patriot Riders, Phelps is in the area. They are a group of retired soldiers (and some non) that follow Phelps to counter him.

Yes, they are a bunch of lawyers, that's why someone has to be willing to take themselves down to take them down. It's the same concept as "If someone breaks into your house, kill them. If you only injure them, they can sue for assault...despite the fact that they broke into your house."

And back off topic. They're still tentacle monsters.

Yeah I forgot to mention them, between that and the fact theres attempted/actual legislation to keep them outside a certain radius its now him like 4 blocks over drowned out by motorcycles

I've also heard, have no idea how true this is, that when he planned to protest the funeral for those Amish that got shot a couple of years back, he recieved a threat, called it into the PA state police, and the response was something like "Now, of course, we'll try to protect you like we would any group with a permit..but I should warn you, we're very busy and for all we know a lot of officers might be conspicuously unavailable."
