Appropriate, indeed. Unfortunately, we're not crazy enough to create something like Gurren Lagann.

Where do you think the Japanese got the idea of piloting a robot piloting another robot piloting another robot?

Richard Dean Anderson did it thirty five minutes before Gurren Laggan existed.

More news upon more news!

Apparently the Gurren Lagann Parallel Works have released their "Libera Me" From Hell video this week. It doesn't feature any representations of characters or Gunmen... but it's really artistic with its video.

Also this past week the Gurren Lagann Movie: Crimson Chapter was released in theaters around Japan. I found a blog which has a translated account of the movie... obviously things have been cut out to keep the time down, and Eps 4-6 barely happen if at all... but most astounding is how the pretty much rewrote the story after the Episode 9 point of the story.

If I may direct your attention to this...

Allow me to introduce "Dai Ganzandu" and "Dotenkaizan". In additional to writing in these obviously movie-only inspirations, the movie seems to try and tell severa stories at once. First is obviously the rise of Dai Gurren-dan, but it also tries to fill in more development between characters which feature more heavily in the "time skip" (such as Kiyoh and Dayakka), but [again!] at the same time the story is not played out in the same style as the anime. So continuity comes into question.

I won't spoil too much else, as I can only go by what I'm read... but still... I can't wait to see the movie.

I keep forgetting about Gurren laggan, but I did manage to catch it a few weeks ago. It's a blast, good dub, and it's on a channel that seems to know how to advertise anime they air, despite all the commercials.

That is all.

I must say that the English dub (minus the stuff that was cut for frakking commercial time) is really good. I still prefer the Japanese, mainly because that's how I first saw it... but this was really good Smiley

My mom and I were watching some of Gurren Laggan tonight, and what I saw I was impressed, but I have no idea what episode it was and I missed lots of something going on. What I can tell you, is that someone bit the dust hardcore in a "crused under pressure" kinda way, but before he did, he took a drill bit, stuck it to his hand, and made it grow to immense size. Said some stuff, then got squished.

Congrats Snake, you just watched that last 3 episodes of the whole show.  So you have to watch everything else to get what happened. Because I was epicly sad when I first saw those episodes having watched everything else.
