Maybe we should give them a reson to revive the whole shebang, like all of us post at the same time or email the webmaster like hell so that they think they there are people out there that actually WANT to help the big O cause.

Already been tried. Insanely unlikely to happen.

Oh the donation thing hasn't been tried, but I'm pretty sure savebigos's strategy was to bombard Cartoon Network and Sunrise with letters asking for more Big O.

Which most probably won't work cus they're probably used to it (i sent on in a year ago).
I though they wanted to hire a dump truck full of tomatoes and drop them outside the Sunrise HQ or something. Now that would work!

I wouldn't describe SaveBigO as completely dead. More like in a coma. Stuck in limbo between life and death. If there was any fatal flaw to their strategy it was that they were too focused on Cartoon Network as the target for their campaign. This might've been a good idea right after the end of the second season, but it's pretty clear that Cartoon Network is no longer interested and even makes fun of those who push them for it. Maybe Targeting Sunrise or Bandai or someone if we could get enough of a show of hands might have more of an effect.

You're right about that, Ember, but there were two more huge problems with their strategy.  Number one, the owners of the site let their success go to their heads.  During the time when I used to go there, I saw that most of their time was spent on spamming about their site and boosting their stats instead of getting the word out about Big-O itself and coming up with new ideas.  When I visit a site to get a season 3, I don't care how many posts are on their forums or how many hits they had last week or what new features were added to their software, I care about, you know, SEASON 3.  They even had a contest to see how many people they could get on the forums at once to inflate their record.  WTF?!  Talk about not having their priorities straight.  Maybe they made money off ads or something, I dunno.

Number two, they tried to do WAY more than they should have.  Instead of just having news and information about how people could help with the campaign, the site was bloated with unnecessary stuff like forums, MP3 downloads, some kind of Big-O dictionary or something, and who knows what else.  The end result was cluttered and confusing, and like I said before, it took away time that could have been spent on the campaign.  Some guy on PCF (don't remember who, but I'll try to find the link) had a "Save Reboot" site that had a nice, streamlined approach with not much else beyond news and links.  That's what SBO should have been.  Much more effective and less confusing in my opinion.

But yeah, SBO is kinda dead now, so let it rest in peace.  We don't need to beg the webmasters to bring it back or bribe them, that's just lame.  If we want a site to brainstorm about season 3, why doesn't someone start a new site/blog about it?  Who says it HAS to be SBO or nothing?  I'm thinking it's a little late to do anything about Big-O, but hey, if someone can start a new site to get the season 3 gears turning again, I'm all for it.

Galatea: No objections... I fully support the creation of a Ressurect Big O thread, so fire away.

However, it appears that this thread has started drifting off the topic, so if no one minds, and before anyone calls us on it, I'll steer it back again, and see you guys over on the bring back Big O thread... Cool

Ok, one of the things that I would like to make seen is the lack of Merchandise for Big O. So what I have done is made a list of items wich if you don't have, maybe startled that they are even existant. And note, this is for a regular collector, because If you already got a copy of Both seasons of Big O in Region One, the international box would be worthless. But diffrent people have diffrent tastes.

...

If I have left out any essential Items, please list them. Smiley

OK, granted it's merchandise that's only partially Big O, but how about
Super Robot Wars/Super Robot Taisen "Destiny" for the GameBoy Advance (somehow "Destiny" fits here):

As quoted from Wikipedia.org:
Quote
Super Robot Wars Destiny (August 8, 2003): Series premiered: The Big O, Future Robo Daltanius, Getter Robo Armageddon, Macross 7, Megazone 23 (Currently being translated by Studio Llama)

Unfortunately, it hasn't been translated into English yet, but you get to pilot a megadeus. How about that? Grin

P.S. Readerman: I don't know if it's necessarily too late. I saw a YouTube Big O post dated
September 13, 2007 (see my YouTube thread), and it's not alone. If only Cartoon Network and
Sunrise realized there are still many Big O fans...

There aren't any plans to localize Super Robot Wars? And that's, like, the only professional game (series?) with Big O and Roger Smith. Why does Japan get all the fun stuff...?

According to that fascinating web resource out there, wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Robot_Wars#Games_In_English), only the 4 following games have been translated:

Super Robot Wars (GB, translated by Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation)
Super Robot Wars 3 (SNES, translated by Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation)
Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation (GBA, translated by Atlus USA)
Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 (GBA, translated by Atlus USA)

However, if this letter campaign gets going, I wonder if we could ask Cartoon Network or Mr. Konaka, to suggest either "SRW Destiny" be translated, or Big O get's it's own game. At least add a megadeus profile to Mech Warrior or something... Grin

Sometimes I ask myself the same question... That's not to say the classic American toys are lame (like Star Wars, Atari, Hot Wheels and Matchbox, Slinky, Silly Putty. Merlin, NERF, GI Joe, Tyco/AFX racing), or that there aren't a few standouts in the new American toys (Robotix, Micro Machines), but the Japanese did come up with:

Micro RC cars
Modern Console Game Systems
Gobots
Transformers
Power-Trons
Lots of other cool little toys...

That's not to say the American toy industry is dead, but they need to re-focus on cool, original stuff, and not always movie merchandising... Smiley

Gobots

 Grin

Just two Original Generation titles, though? Eh, thanks for looking it up.

I couldn't find anything about The Big O in that Wiki article, but I'll keep looking over it.
