Even without the background knowledge, how the hell did you see Dorothy and think "8 years old"??  No way she's modeled on a girl that young.
I put Dorothy at about 8 at the end of the second season. We have little idea as to how long she has been alive.

Wait, you must mean you think R. Dorothy has been operational for 8 years.

Cuz her mental age is clearly close to adulthood, and her body looks more or less like a 16 year old.

I'll take Vogler's advice and ignore Sharpshooter. He keeps things interesting?

of course her mental age is close to an adults. you think her father wants to raise her from 1 day on back to eighteen? if he already had back-up memories from his daughter it would be so much easier to just dump them into a robot body built to be the same age. also for the most part it would make the Dorothy we know that much closer to the original, all the life experiences are already there, so she wouldn't have to re-experience life lessons. I doubt Dr. Wanyeright wanted to raise his daughter all over again as a single parent, most likely Dorothy did know her mom, we just never see her.

Well if she has the mental age and body of about a 16 year old, as you so loudly agreed, then who cares how long she's been operational as an android? She's nearly at the US age of consent, and well within the Japanese one.

There are also plenty of real examples of girls who look younger/more petite than they actually are. Bllue and Graham can back me up with examples. It's possible Dorothy really is 18, mentally and anatomically, even though I do think Dorothy is one of those "sure she's 18 (wink)" situations.

Oh wow this thread is seemingly becoming "SO BANGING A 16 YEAR OLD (robot) ISN'T A THING, I MEAN SOME STATE LAWS"

Seems to have diverted from yuko's original post

well actually age and mental/appearance of age are two different things.
this is more for discussing her age as a whole, not how old Dorothy looks or acts.

Uh... okay, maybe I'm confused because I am heavily medicated right now for a sinus infection, but you seem to be contradicting yourself.  You started the thread asking if liking Dorothy makes you a pedophile, then concede that of course her mental age must be more than eight years old, but now you are saying that it doesn't matter...?  I don't even.  I just.. I'm confused.  I'm not sure the word "pedophile" means what you think it means, because Dorothy clearly is not a child.  She's a robot who is physically a duplicate of an eighteen year old girl and at least the same age mentally.  So what exactly are you trying to argue here?

Thank you, Tifaria. Your meds are definitely not the cause of confusion.
